Some pple still hunt just in case something happens and you cannot count on the grocery store. When I shot the deer it didn't just break the jaw of the deer, it created that temporary wound cavity and blew out the jaw. You were in the infantry and know what I'm talking about. There's no entry or exit wound now is there any blow out from that temp wound cavity. Unless they shot it with a .22l I don't see any other rifle doing so llittle damage
@streakingcameraman I hunt and know what a Rifle is capable of! And a .50bmg creates a temporary would cavity larger ten the body itself! Thats why it's capable of doing such dramatic damage. I'm ex ranger and have a better idea of what rifles can do then want you think you know about rifles. And like I said while hunting I've shot a deer in the jaw like what this video says. It does way more damage then that shown in the video.

I took a 130lb doe Saturday with a head shot(only shot I had) first time ever and my deer stood up after I shot him just like this I shot him 4 times with a 308 so I am a hunter but headshot will be of my list for a while.
So I know from experience what that type of damage that does to a deer, and there was no such damage there. Unless it was hit with an arrow and the arrow broke off or somebody hit it with a 22lr which I don't think would do that. It wasn't shot or atleast it has no signs of being shot with a high powered rifle or by a hand gun
@SSshane6d9 So you have no clue what a high powered riffle is capable of then. Yes, a high powered rifle will take off a body part especially in a body part with high density bone like the jaw. When the bullet enters at an extremely high velocity, the bone that is splintered, in turn, becomes hundreds of smaller projectiles. Pair that damage and the shear damage that the bullet caused itself and it's easy to say this is possible. Ther is a video of a 50 cal fmj blowing a man into peices.

I intend to make a difference after seeing a few videos of failed attempts of head shots on deer. I myself am an outdoorsman and I can't stand to see an animal suffer, I'll be sure to correct anyone who thinks head shots are a reliable shot whenever I get the chance at work. @scooter6722 Headshots (if done right) are the most efficiant way to kill an animal. But I'm not saying that if a deer is broadside you should shoot it in the head.
@scooter6722 you have a good point but you are overlooking some tihngs... if youre hunting with lead and feeding children you cannot shoot them in the chest... the lead dissintegrates and shards of lead spread allover the wound cavity and into other potions of the meat. a headshot makes all of your meat clean for the children. just dont miss! also if youre using the leather for clothing it will devalue your end product with extra holes
the only reason i would video tape me cleaning a deer is to show someone how to do it. headshots are dumb. now this wont ever be a good buck. thats definatley not ethical..shame
I've seen this before. It may not be a head shot. My dog chased a small deer all around my yard and it jumped at the fence so much it broke it's jaw and ran off. It may have been an accident.
Its a shame to see things like this. I am an avid hunter and know all to well shots don't always go as planned. Going for a head shot is never a good idea. That is the part of the deer that is moving the most. Plus, you are targeting a kill zone about the size of a softball. If the deer moves slightly you will take out its jaw and it will starve to death. Yes, bad shots happen when you take every precaution and aim for vitals, but it is at a much reduced chance.
whenever i hunt i respect the deer once ive killed it and i see it dead i thank god for letting me get the deer, if i ever seen a deer like this with its bottom jaw off i would worry about killing it and not letting it suffer. thumbs up if ur a responsible hunter

Just put the deer out of it's misery I don'e go for the head because of this.. I don't like to see animals who can't eat or feed themselves, just shoot it once more. Blind fold it so it can not see it's own death. If you leave it like that death will find it's way to that deer and all other deer like it. And @wyv3rn your wrong at slauter houses there almost toture the animal. ( ex. some pigs get hung upside down and get their throuts slit and they stay alive and feel the pain.

@johnwinstan if you don't hunt the deer will over populate and eat all their food source and starve, controlling their numbers help them. Also I hunt to provide meat for my family because I don't always have money to "go buy that there store meat". This is the product of a moron, responsible hunters take heart shots and track them if they run. Just because one person is stupid does not mean all hunters are.

I intend to make a difference after seeing a few videos of failed attempts of head shots on deer. I myself am an outdoorsman and I can't stand to see an animal suffer, I'll be sure to correct anyone who thinks head shots are a reliable shot whenever I get the chance at work. (I work at Gander Mountain)

the only time you should ever shoot an animal in the head is if it's already down. always aim for the vitals, not the head.

The shot took off the front of the lower jaw, is that what happened? (I don't hunt, so I'm not familiar with what injuries an animal can sustain.)
I don't hunt, but I'm fine with hunting, and have had the pleasure of excellent meals from animals friends have hunted. That said, I agree with the hunters who criticize this kind of shot: it'll leave the animal suffering until it dies of starvation.
I wonder why the hunter didn't track and kill the deer once he made the bad shot. Lack of skill?

That is super fucked up. I am a respectable hunter and always aim for the vitals. Anyone who aims for the head is an idiot. God this vid. Makes me so mad. I shouldn't of clicked on it but the curiosity killed me. I'd like to shoot who ever did this in the head and see how they liked that. It's one thing to take the life of a deer, but to straight up make it suffer is so wrong..

@scooter6722 you have a good point but you are overlooking some tihngs... if youre hunting with lead and feeding children you cannot shoot them in the chest... the lead dissintegrates and shards of lead spread allover the wound cavity and into other potions of the meat. a headshot makes all of your meat clean for the children. just dont miss! also if youre using the leather for clothing it will devalue your end product with extra holes

I've seen this before. It may not be a head shot. My dog chased a small deer all around my yard and it jumped at the fence so much it broke it's jaw and ran off. It may have been an accident.

Its a shame to see things like this. I am an avid hunter and know all to well shots don't always go as planned. Going for a head shot is never a good idea. That is the part of the deer that is moving the most. Plus, you are targeting a kill zone about the size of a softball. If the deer moves slightly you will take out its jaw and it will starve to death. Yes, bad shots happen when you take every precaution and aim for vitals, but it is at a much reduced chance.

whenever i hunt i respect the deer once ive killed it and i see it dead i thank god for letting me get the deer, if i ever seen a deer like this with its bottom jaw off i would worry about killing it and not letting it suffer. thumbs up if ur a responsible hunter
