@XxsoulermachinaxX I agree, After Silent Hill Origins, which I disliked, I never even bothered with the newer SH games, they just don't have he same creepy factor as the first 3 did. Silent Hill 2 was the most disturbing for me, I can play it over and over and it still gives me the chills.

I think how much it takes to kill mega mary depends on what difficulty setting you play the game... I remember ages ago when I first played SH2 it was on the 'beginner' setting and she was down after 4-5 shots with the rifle. Bit disappointing really, but at least I got to finish her off with the Great Knife.

I think Mary/Maria-boss' attacks are symbolic too. She tries to kill James by choking him, the same way James killed Mary by choking. I guess the moth are symbolizing her corpse; rottening due to the insects covering her body. She does look like a corpse too with brown stains and lifeless facial-expression. The demon is therefore a manifastation of the instant of Mary's death; a corpse flying in a cage resembling her deathbed. That's what I think.
