I fail to see any form of jkd in this. people think just because they know the principles of jkd that they fight using jkd. You must be in the mind set to use jkd correctly.
No disrespect, but this is why i prefer boxing and kung fu type of styles. Id really hate practicing with my buddy all the time and rolling around the floor with him. I think i rather just own a gun than learn how to be a wrestling , bjj, whatever master.
@Guinea54 thanks for yuor comment. I like practice above all for myself and I find rolling on the floor (and standing sparring) a good way to keep in shape. However I tell you we often we change our experience with other ma, we sparred also with traditional ma practitioner and we found very easy to take to the ground one who use only kicks and punches. However everyone has his own experiences and ideas...
I perfectly agree with you on the gun as better self defense solution!
@ParkFight I am just bitter because I think part of being a human being is standing on your feet and not walking on all fours. I think humans should fight that way as well. Why not bite than for that matter, or do eye gouges etc. MMA, UFC is supposed to be for entertainment, I don't find it that entertaining with all the new ground game. But I know some great boxer or martial artist is going to learn to counter the wrestling and the fad is going to change eventually.
@Guinea54 Always thanks for your attention, I like mind exchange. I always think everyone has his own experience and skills and probably you are a good standing fighter, too bad we can't training together!
@ParkFight I used to do muay thai, boxing, kung fu and very brief wrestling. But I am no fighter now. An 8th grader could probably kick my ass. I am just saying the MMA, and BJJ fad now I think is a downgrade to fighting sports. Key word is sport. There is a reason why wrestling (real) was never a popular sport. But people are sadistic and the ufc u get to see blood and people beating each other up, so that appeals to the masses the same way the gladiators appealed to the romans.
@ParkFight I think there is a differentiation between effective and practical. I think it could be effective, but it is not practical. I think some principles from Aikido could be useful, but I doubt many could master it. I wouldn't bother with it because that style is probably more difficult to learn than kung fu. Maybe there are a handful of people in the world who can use Aikido effectively in something like MMA.
wtf first off in the very beginning you cant kimura sweep a guy that you have in half guard, and really guillotene in while in full mount, your lettin this guy get guillotenes like crazy keep your guard!
@del1000005 I was wondering the same thing! Holy CRAP! I thought that was impossible to do because you couldnt produce enough leverage. It looked like he might have had halfguard when he got guillotined, but thats still pretty remarkable
So what have you learned in sparring with JKD vs BJJ? I am learning JKD right now, and was always curious about the grappling part of JKD or Jun Fung (so I'm told).
excuse me, LEAST, not leat

@ParkFight also wouldn't it be more cost effective ?

@Guinea54 by the way, I think you have a good experience. What do you think of small junction manipulation (aikido style) is it really effective?
