why dont u just get a wacom pen tablet?? haha makes this MUCH easyer and its pretty fun to use, im a begginner and have a wacom bamboo right now, but i eanna get a cintq soon lol
@PlanetVerdia I hate vectorial tools for drawing in Illustrator, I prefer Photoshop, it gives me more control and the interface is friendly and easy enough to start inking even if you have no idea about Photoshop.
@00SOSNewbie00 I'm a big fan of Photoshop. I've been playing around with it for over 10 years. I do love photoshop more, than illustrator. And to be honest, I'm not a big fan of vectorial tools myself. Even though I hate illustrator, it does have it's advantages. Like tracing cartoons is faster and easier in illustrator, but I totally hear you on the "personal preference". Photoshop is easier for me too.
@00SOSNewbie00 Make an action for filling the path, then bind it to a key of your choice! That would be the best solution...if there isn't a keyboard shortcut, make one!
Actually, the pen tool is easier to use than a lot of people think =) I Remember when I didn't know how to use it at all, it drove me nuts, until one day I seen that I was doing it wrong. and I was all like, oh my god, what the hell. This tool is so easy to use xD and now I've been using it ever since, I think I made a really easy howto video on it that helped a ton of people. lol but yeah, don't worry, you'll get the hang of it.
En vez de hacer un montón de líneas rectas, para luego revisitarlas, y encurvarlas... ¿porque no mejor encurvarlas en el momento en el que las haces? Es mas fácil, y requiere menos esfuerzo, en mi opinion.
If you followed my channel info you COULD see it, but i'm 99.999% sure don't want to see it, it has a very 'special' topic for a very 'special' audience.
this surely is one of the lamest way to do inking :/ gives the drawing no life at all. i mean it works on some stuff but inking a full drawing. id suggest going back to the brush.
the problem of this technique is its VERY TIME CONSUMING. you will spend a lot of time making this inking this way in photoshop ( much more than the traditional way), with no quality diference.
The pen tool isn't as bad a s it seems. There are some very good 3-4 min tuts on here that explains it all. I can use it really well now and it's all down to just watching the tuts.
I gave up on the pen tool then discovered those tutorials, i haven't looked back since and has made illustrator and photoshop 10x better.
yeah the pen tool is painfull. however it creats neat strait lines. It is great for work on logo's and other design features you cant aford a wiggly line on.
Hi grreat video I have cartoon character they are call the eyes i want to make my character dance with me in the middel if you watch my vide you would see thery look human but they are not i
Very talented. And a great idea. I always end up going over lines, then erasing, then repeating the same monotonous process over and over again. I'm going to test this one out. I'll let you know how it pans out. =]
inking with the pen takes mad skill..i can't get the basics with the anchor points and stuff then get frusterated and give up...what is one tip to give me a better understanding to the pen tool
thanks for the nice tutorial. This save me a lot of time dealing with the anchor point. Like before, i was doing the anchors one by one in order, which it's frustrating when the final stroke didn't come out smooth.
You know you can just stroke the path instead of fitting it to the existing sketch. I mean, your method gives you more control but it becomes insane when your sketch doesn't have big lines.
great job, but the line width is anomalous. Everything has a nice variation to it, but some areas (such as the spike on his collar) have extremely small lines compared to the rest of the drawing.
The photo shop of the tutorial advanced digital inking is a Photoshopping process.

cool technique. but I would take way to long for a comic or a project with a tight deadline. I will keep it in my box of tricks though

Interesting vector method of inking. I tend to agree that a tablet with hand made strokes looks a little more natural though.

Is there a shortcut key to fill the path?
cuz I have to constantly press right click (on my mouse or wacom pen)to bring out the fill path menu and click ok which kinda annoys me.

Yo creo que así se invierte menos tiempo ya que las curvas de los puntos intermedios se crean automáticamente.
En cualquier caso es una preferencia personal.

Yes its time consuming but no matter how clean are your inks or how good is your scanner that you wont get a inking so clean.
Also you have all the advantages of digital mediums... you can undo the mistakes, play with history palette, use a very high res canvas...

Hello: bscapr, you replied yourself.
This method is good for modulated lines, if you need thin and plain lines you can use stroke path.
Cheers.
