I have emu but when i make my character how come i never see traders to get armour and deeds off when i start? is that gone now or where can i find him?
Quick question, is this an exact replica as in you need to work to get mounts and skills or is it a private server where you get everything handed to you.

@TheSwg4life lol well SWGEMU is a SWG EMUlator it has been in creation for over 5 years i think. Its in development by a Volunteer Team and is having to be completely re-written to be legal, so this is wjhy it is taking so long, cause they are volunteers that are re-writing a LARGE game with a Fraction of the size of people it took to create SWG

Last time I heard from someone, a couple of months away (I don't remember exactly), one of the things they emu doesn't have, at least not yet, is space to launch from the starport (despite that you can see that Starship Terminal at 6:03) You know, flying in starships. Although they do have atmospheric flight by now, where you can fly in starships in the sky. Do they EMU not yet have space?

not to mention Sony would have had to acquire licensing from LucasArts to use Star Wars material, so once there license officialy expires, sure any emu wouldn't be unlawfully using Sony licensed material but would be using LucasArts material without prior consent unless they got it.
Will the swgemu actually have updates and new features etc? I was considering running a server for the swgemu community but adding features to the game, like new classes and planets, that parallel the SWTOR game.
sad thing is the current SWG that's closing was better than this incarnation of the EMU, since this version is still incomplete and full of bugs...better to play a crappy game that's finished than a skeleton
@williamkendrick You don't judge a product on what it claims it will be able to do eventually. You judge a product on what it can do currently. And the fact is, SWGEmu is nowhere near done, and has been in development for YEARS now. Even with its flaws, the official game has more features, is more complete, and it more fun than the emulator. Great, the emulator reverted the combat and level up mechanics. Look at how much content got lost in the process.
@DarknessSquall75 hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but that game that has 'so much content' which is in truth the same content as launch, when i played, and we made the game popular, is about to be lost, because sony doesn't want pony up the money for another license renewal.

@williamkendrick I can only get missions from one type of mission terminal, and they're all the exactly same. The enemies are bugged, and loot is not implemented. Most of the planets and moons are not implemented. The space mode is not implemented...Player cities are not implemented. You can say that I'm full of shit, but the facts are on my side.
I do hope SWGEmu actually does what it claims it will do one day, but until then, it's bugged as hell and incomplete.

there is only a few things on that list you mentioned that arent implemented yet:
player cities are imp'd planets and moons imped. enemies are still bugged tho, and loot isn't implimented yet. JTL is a different beast entierly everything else you mentioned i've found to be utter bullshit. find the right server. nova isn't for playing its for testing. try galaxies reborn; worked for me.

It's like this, if you own the client, you can download their Launchpad Enhanced software and start playing. SOE has no control whatsoever over this because you own the client, and EMU has designed their own server code to run the game, so it's perfectly legal.
ofdiscordia have you ever bought a MMO game in the recent 10yrs and bothered to read the T&C ? Sony own the software not you. you just buy the CD's for ease of installing and you rent the use of there server until such time that they decided to pull the plug or ban your account.
It's not legal if they are using material that Sony created and has license too and are using it without the consent of Sony, it's irrelevant if it's emulated or not.

Yes they can revoke it for exploiting their servers but outside that can't do much of anything unless they can illegally hack my computer and find I was using it for something they didn't want me to use it for. I recently finished downloading and installing the emu. I was wondering what the difference between servers is? Core3 was recommended, but I can't seem to get it working. Liberator works, but I've read some forum posts (dating from January) that said it didn't feature everything or was buggy. Can anyone clarify?
@giantrobots1122 Core3 and STMN are test servers...as players, we can't access them. For the time being, all players can create toons on Liberator. Yes, it's a little buggy and there's not much to do...but it works. More info at the SWGEMU website.

I know some of you guys loved the PRE CU but I think you should face it. It was nowhere as good as the game is now. I know a lot of "players" are just exited about playing for free, not how good that game was. If you ever feel like coming back, we'll be waiting for you back at the REAL SWG.

Economy isn't broken, either
Keep in mind, this version of Galaxies was built from scratch from the ground up -- cut em some slack.
Classes are more precise, too. I'm a fan.

@giantrobots1122 Core3 and STMN are test servers...as players, we can't access them. For the time being, all players can create toons on Liberator. Yes, it's a little buggy and there's not much to do...but it works. More info at the SWGEMU website.

@corporateCoffee No you don't just download an install the trial, then the EMU, it worked for me. And they are planning to implement Jump to Lightspeed, in 2 months.

I know some of you guys loved the PRE CU but I think you should face it. It was nowhere as good as the game is now. I know a lot of "players" are just exited about playing for free, not how good that game was. If you ever feel like coming back, we'll be waiting for you back at the REAL SWG.
