I had a look at the TG01 and it has solid reviews just a bit outside my price range atm.

Can't you just overclock the omnia so it can runs games a bit faster? or could i get another phone around the same price?

The omnia can't be overclocked, impossible.

The tg01 is a real beast of power, but I must admit it's also a device very hard to handle easily, not complitly finished, it's much more a pc than a phone, etc.

Maybe you should consider the omnia II, or the omnia pro (already out in some asian countries), or wait for the HTC using snapdragon CPU (but you'll have to wait a little more)

In the options, don't select fastboot.

Then when you start the game, if you don't see the PSX logo, or if you see it completly crappy, your iso is not "pure" enough, you must find another one.

If you see the logo but then it crashes, tell me, we'll find the solution

I'd rather suggest you to google FPSEce... i don't know, but there might be 1.0 out already or they are testing it. And for PlayStation games try torrents ;)

In fact, you must first download the playstation emulator called "fpsece", then you must have FF7 in .iso format.

Emulation is not an easy way, but it worth it.

For the games, like every other emulator, you're supposed to own the original games to rip it into .iso ..............................­..

hehe, I know dude, I'm stiring you up, makes me laugh. I'm using finalburn which is letting me emulate sf2ce and 40 other good roms aswell as genpp for sega megadrive emulation which runs fine. neither of these emulators support the ati chipset in the qualcomm but atleast support the arm processor so they run fine. I tried finding the specs on the omnias gpu, I couldn't find it, apparently the other newer omnia has ass kicking specs with wvga, you should have bought the omnia hd dude.

FPSEce also supports arm processor, so I'd like to see it running on an xperia or an HTC with good screen ;)

I also use morphgear to emulate snes, and strangely use a 800 nes games pack for playstation THROUGH fpsece to play nes games.

Quite strange lol but works well and 800 games in only one file is nice.

The new HD omnia is not availiable in my country yet.........

The older xscale and lower resolution gives the omnia an edge however when emulators support the qualcomm ati chipsets then you will suck eggs. Look at xtrakt for an example, it's running at 800x480, twice the omnias res and it runs at a decent framerate with far more detailed graphics then you could believe. finalburn and genpp are about all that work properly on qualcomm ati chipsets. Omnia is taking advantage of older hardware. I phone is being updated in late 2009. xperia and htc rock

How can you compare finalburn or gepp with a psx emulator? It's like comparing a neo geo with a psx!

Of course fpsece would run better on a faster device (mine is 624mHz....how many ppc are faster? c'me one, be serious!) and an HD screen (fpsece works well in VGA).

Instead of criticizing, try to find a better, more playable playstation emulator^^

Yeah true you are right, the new xscales are faster then the old ones but I suspect the video hardware is pretty much the same which is why the omnia runs fpsece. Doesn't matter about speed, matters how well the hardware is implemented. You said fuck all about xtrakt being a wicked opengl ce application. fpsece doensn't use the qualcomm ati imageon at all. Damn intel. Why don't you have a look at xtrakt and compare it's 3d opengl ce to your fpsece hardware acelerated low resolution graphics.

But it's not an emulated game. Emulation takes much ressources just to make the ppc believe it's not a ppc but something else, a playstation here!

BTW, with FPSEce, I can play maybe 1000 games, including games like all the final fantasy, metal gear solid, resident evil, tekken, etc...........

FPSEce 1.0 is about to be released, but I have a 1.0 beta to test for Schtruck.But this video of FF7 is on 0.9.6.

The Omnia is 624Mhz, but don't worry, 1.0 will run very good with slower devices.

1) It is not an iphone but a samsung omnia. The iphone is extremely slow when emulating the psx

2) I bought this device without knowing it was possible to do this, not instead of buying a PSP

3) The next version of FPSEce will be full speed, so why should I buy a PSP????

I'm not so rich, and my pockets are not big enough to have a PPC, a PSP, a MP3 player, etc...

you don't need a psp or ds because you will eventually tire of both. I hacked both devices including my n93 eventually realizing my n93 was more then enough in terms of entertainment and having the more then handy ability to make phone calls (psp phone anyone?)

Unfortunately my n93's new home is in on some motorway and looking at this i'm pretty damn impressed.

When the new version comes out do you think it will run at full speed for sure? I'm seriously considering getting this

It actually works at full speed on the Toshiba TG01 and its 1000Mhz snapdragon CPU (I have this device, now, beside my good old omnia).

I'm sure it will be full speed on the next HTC using snapdragon CPU.

I'm pretty sure I can be full speed on the Omnia II

What do you think it's better, the MSI Bt gamepad or the "Super mini bluetooth keyboard". I ask this because the bt keyboard is cheaper but it's unconfortable to play with (i think) and the MSI Gamepad y more expensive than the keyboard,

I did bot try the keyboard so I can't really tell.

The gamepad is quite good, more: you can fit your phone into if you want to play in "portrait" mode. (see my video of F-zero with morphgear)

And BTW, do you use in PSX L2 or R2? Because I can't see L2 or R2 in the gamepad.

And, how are your configs of fpsece, arm v4 or v5, sound, frame skip, etc...

(I can now play FFVII but haven't keyboard...)

The gamepad has got one L and one T button, but so far they refuse to work with fpsece (but work with morphgear, strange)

arm v5, frameskip on 0 for the final fantasy.

In fact, changing the other settings of the emulator changes nothing most of the time

I hope it will work for you too:

In the "GamePad config" application, in the omnia, change the values of L-Fn and R-Fn.

I uses 7 and 8, so you should have this:

Define L-Fn

Number Key 8

Define R-Fn

Number key 7

Then go to FPSEce, options, joypad, and try again to assign L and R, it should work now.
