Tap water is better than bottled water. Bottled water sits in a plastic container and absorbs all that chemicals. Plus plastics isn't biodegradable. There is a doc named Tapped that shows how bad bottled water is.
Its because of the temperature! tap water is warm yuck, and who has time to make it cold. i used to then i enjoyed it! Such a good point, i wont get bottled water anymore to save money.
It definitely makes a big difference where you live with the taste of the tap water. I live on one of the Florida Keys and we are told not to drink the tap water here unless you boil it because our main sewer pipe line and our water pipe line are right next to each other and both are so old they break on a monthly bases. Now how would want to drink sewer laced tap water?
Well it does make a point that tap water from different places are different. Some tap water has a bit of chlorine in it...that's why I usually filter and or boil tap water before I drink it, but yep.
I won't drink bottle water. When I did I've gotten bottle water where the plastic in the bottle got into the water and it was nasty and not healthy. Maybe it was because they used cheap plastic or soemthing, but I don't take the chance anymore.
The major reason why everyone thinks bottled water is better than tap is because they never put any ice in it and let it cool down. Their excuse for this is it dosn't look healthy enough'.
By law tap water has to be free of chemicals and lead. If you got it in your tap water you probably should replace your conduits. In fact stale bottled water always has more bacteria in it than tap water.
There are traces of lead (pronounced "led") in tap water (depending on the pipes that bring water to your house/apartment. It can be very bad for you if enough of it builds up in your system.
Fluoridated Tap water is horrible for your health, and Fluoride is not the only bad Chemical in your water.
Also most of the Fluoride you get in your water isn't the same as in your toothpaste. It is scraped off of factory chimneys and pipes and dumped into the water, after all why would they waste Fluoride they could put in toothpaste?
Also You have to be careful to not drink distilled water, Your body still needs minerals.
My Grandpa died from kidney deficiency as a result of drinking distilled water: What we do is get pure spring water by the 5 gallon Jug. Its not much more expensive and is WAY better for you.

20/20 conducted this test on NYC tap water which is kinda unfair because in china the tap water is horrible. But if you're a NYer like me, drink ur free water! (it comes out of ur taxes)
Bottled water tastes worse than tap water. Most of them taste like they have massive chlorine content. The best tasting water I've had was from a small island, with almost no civilization, from a spring, at a summer camp.
one thing that isnt taken into account is that NY tap water isnt cleanest in spite of the fact that it comes from a big city, its cleanest BECAUSE it comes from a big city. they clean the ever loving shit out of it in order to protect the residents. i dont know how the tap water is in other cities though, because all they ever test is NY tap. somehow everyone assumes its filled with plague
They tested this water for germs. Germ factors for all of the tested waters will very easily even out with multiple tests, however they did not say in this video that they ran chemical tests on the water, searching for fluoride, chlorine, drugs introduced into the water from urine (IE birth control pills), and many other nasty chemicals. There is a difference between Germs and Chemicals and in the video they stated they only ran germ tests.
Don't know about the other "nasty" chemicals you're so scared about. But take into account how many people have died or got sick due to tap water, now factor out the ones due to germs and viruses.
You'll have almost zero deaths and illnesses.
But bottled water is good for something, when you're in the shop and you don't want a fizzy, sugary drink, you can pick something clear and healthy for you.

I'll drink tap water... usually, if I'm really thirsty I'll drink it. However there are some places where I've tasted it, it seriously just tasted... BAD. Some places certainly have a distinctly different taste... and it just tastes BAD.

I agree with Leonicdragon below, you USA folk just aren't used to real unfluorodated water, that was not drunk by at least 8 people before you! Fluoride was used by the Nazis for mind control, and they put it in your water, in your toothpast and in rat poison.
also, they do not mention the ph and acidity levels in the tap water they test. Hmmnn. Wonder why? Nor the flourides, lead, and chlorine.....all they mention is TASTE.

I buy bottled water only occationally, usually because I reuse the bottles, but you can only reuse them so many times before they aren't terribly sanitary. So I use a bottle for a while, recycle it, and buy another to use for a while. I like to refill them with Crystal Light (made with tap water) and take on hikes.
I think the major difference is, the majority of tap water is fluoridated(thanks to your local and state Representatives) and bottled water isn't. Although, they now have fluoridated bottled water! Please do your homework..Flouride is for TOPICAL USE. Digesting it does not BENEFIT us in any way, shape or form...
i'd like to see this test done with the presidential candidates. have each candidate's running platform spelled out without the candidate's name attached and see who people pick.
At Northeastern University, my labs analyzed samples of Boston Municipal tap water vs. many high end bottled waters. Tap water won hands down every time- it had least # of microorganisms. Some of the more expensive bottled water was nasty. And one in particular was equivalent to bath water! Stossel is right: you're buying the hype!
This is a great video. It is amazing how much ads can control what people think of something as simple as water. Your right panterastang, makes you wonder what else is just hype.
this is so much more than showing how people are just wrong about tap water. It shows how easy it is to mass mind control a population through constant advertising. Think about what else is just "hype"
i agree. If I ask anyone I know if commercials influence them, they say no. Yet people will pay $55 for a bottle of water when FREE water is just as good. It's all just hype, and living in the moment.
The reason Evian was so "horrible" is b/c we arent USED to the taste of REAL water. Note it was last. I personally drink Fiji water and I KNOW there is a difference. It stay cooler longer too which I find odd. I can take a bottle of Walmart water and a bottle of Fiji and refrigerate them and put them in the same car at the same place and for some reason, the WM Water gets hot faster and tastes like chemicals where as the Fiji is cool on my palate and tastes smooth.
Fiji is the same price as Evian... at least where I live ne way... and Evian was the one they were saying is over rated... I uphold my original statement of ppl like the taste of chemicals b/c they are used to that flavor. I for one cannot stand it and preffer distilled water (not in plastic gallon jugs b/c the water leaches the taste of that kind of plastic) and Fiji water.
You don't want to drink the tap water because of the FLUORIDE in it...very bad for you.

I can take a bottle of Walmart water and a bottle of Fiji and refrigerate them and put them in the same car at the same place and for some reason, the WM Water gets hot faster and tastes like chemicals where as the Fiji is cool on my palate and tastes smooth.

ok, but i dont really care. That's fiji, not the huge expensive crap.
bully129 4 years ago
Fiji is the same price as Evian... at least where I live ne way... and Evian was the one they were saying is over rated... I uphold my original statement of ppl like the taste of chemicals b/c they are used to that flavor. I for one cannot stand it and preffer distilled water (not in plastic gallon jugs b/c the water leaches the taste of that kind of plastic) and Fiji water.

And I've been to REALLY high dollar places and I've NVR seen water about 6.00 a liter so what are you referring to?
