Cool video. You mentioned that have had the macbook pro as well as this new computer. If you had to carry around a computer all day in a backpack which would you choose? Is the weight difference between the two computers very much?

@LovingPoontang69 there is a noticeable difference in size and weight between the two. Going from a 13" MBP to a 13" MBA, I only gave up the DVD drive and gained a much more portable laptop, a higher resolution display, and a much quieter package. The solid state internals are much faster also. Very happy that I switched.

Benchmark unboxing! Ignore the 'wise guys'. What's your opinion of the MBA after a couple of months? Would you still buy it over MBP? I get the feeling that the MBA and MBP become more alike performance-wise, thus almost making the MBP obsolete (apart from drive space and upgradeability). I suppose a bit of photoshop editing (not professionally) is possible on this machine? Thanks!

@MekKaiver Thank you! I love, love, love the MBA. It's plenty powerful and super light. Every time I pick up my MBP I wonder why anyone would buy it over the Air.

I edit video in Final Cut and iMovie, I produce a podcast, and I do lots of Photoshop on the Air without issue. It's a great all-around machine.

@amarjev normal hard drives have moving parts and are slow at read and write speeds. Ssd have no moving parts and alot faster. My Mac boots up in 10 secs with ssd and with normal hard drive 30 secs average

@gidigida I switched from a MBP to the MBA and was very happy with the change (from a speed and portability perspective). Depending on the resale of your MBP you could minimize the cost of buying the Air by selling your MBP. That's what I did.

You're missing the point of the MacBook Air.

I'm not a PC gamer, and I don't want/need a massive gaming laptop that runs for 90 minutes on a charge.

Of course you know what's best for you, but just a note about the size of the 11" vs the 13", and your big hands:

The keyboards on the two Macs are exactly the same (with the exception of the function keys). The trackpad is exactly the same, too. So it's really just a matter of the screen size.

I like the 13" a lot, but if you otherwise prefer the 11", don't let your big hands be the deciding factor as they shouldn't be an issue at all.
