Had the book when I was a kid, enjoyed it. Saw the movie as a young adult, enjoyed it too. I think nostalgia really helps in enjoying this film. Now I would love it if they make Harry Turner's Meadow.

Go to the scene were the world was being destroied by food.

When shown Mount Rushmore being hit by giant pies, hitting each President in the face... but one. When it reached Abraham Lincoln he was not hit in the face like the others, but instead hit in the back of the head, then pie dripped out of his eyes and noes.

Its not hard to get what this means, its a joke (and a dark one at that) making fun of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

Ever since "Toy Story" Hollywood have been churning out som many of these CGI Animation films, for the sake of making money. They have NO charm, nothing in them that really appeals to adults and kids alike. I only rate a few of these types of animation movies, Bugs Life, Toy Story, maybe Monsters Inc and thats probably it (maybe Incredibles). The rest are just money making, boring cash-ins they're all the same, sick of them. But after all that, I guess the kids have to have their films too.

For me, as an animator, this was "better than sex." I'm a tiny bit disappointed you didn't discuss the beautiful animation and character design more, but I thought the stand out voice was NPH as Steve the monkey! I love this movie, but mom made me mad when she watched this because she fell asleep 3 times trying to watch it and as a result hated it. She falls asleep on most movies I tried to get her to watch DAMN! I wish I could fall asleep that easy the lucky devil ( She makes me mad, but I love her though^^). I think this movie was inversely proportionate to 9's hype. This didn't have a lot of hype, and ended up being awesome, and people thought 9 would be awesome, and it sucked.

There were a lot of awesome gags, like the audience erupted when Flint goez nuts in the snowball fight.

He also uses an atari controler once. If you pay attention, somewhere there's an atari controller.
