There are a lot of straights on the nurb but also tons of off camber curves and tight corners. It's an all around tough track for any car. Our Audis were tuned on that track like many other performance cars...and even standard cars being stress tested on them.
I think the biggest thing that's still lacking in today's American cars are the interiors but that's still part of the pricing game (look at the new camaro and the interior cutbacks so they could use the DOHC V6)
Also the European V8s and American V8's can't even be compared. Some would call the American pushrod style outdated and again, as a european car driver, I appreciate that they take a different approach...high displacement but fairly low RPM for wide bands of torque vs the european small displacement/high RPM strategy. Two means to the same goal IMHO.
Do you realize how man straight aways are on the nurb. track! of course those two are going to set good lap records... but those are lap records for their class you idiot not for the whole track, because I can tell you that other production cars are killing their times, both cars set somewhere in the 7min range, and other european cars are killing that... anyways there is so many variables on track times... it's all on the driver, the car doesnt do the fucking driving automatically...

Love the ZR1, it's ridiculous amounts of brute strength, and its extreme performance capabilities but there is just something about a Ferrari that no other sports car can match. Ferrari's tend to go for a more balanced approach when it comes to performance delivery vs the domestics. It's super tactile, super responsive as it's almost alive in your fingers. No brute force needed here as it purely relies on balance, technique and tactility to execute the job. The new Italia should be quite the car

Here's your kicker. It puts out a slalom speed of 69.2, very nice for any country's cars. Skidpad holds up it's cornering pride as well, pulling 0.97g. Corvette C6 ZR1 posted a lap time around the Nurburgring of 7:42.99, beating many imports. Do a little research before you say an American car can't corner.

Hey, I like the ZR1 more than any Ferrari in terms of performance, but you can't be serious when you say that everything inside a Ferrari is plastic. Even if it was, it's not like the Corvette is any less guilty. Plus, it's not like plastic is such a bad thing in the first place.

I just bought a Dodge Viper ACR because it is more special than the ZR1. Dont get me wrong i love vettes and that one, The ACR is the fastest production car ever to lap the Nurburgring
i still think i like the sound of the 360 more than the 430 for some reason. the 360 sounds a little more raw, while the 430 sounds kind of beefier with a deeper tone. and in a car that you want to be heard and seen in the 360 will grab the most attention from a further distance i think.
Anyhow it's all opinion once you break the 11 sec/3sec barrier. It's like arguing over a 10ms hard driver versus an 8ms hard drive.. PLEASE!! And yes, it's true about production reduction on the ZR-1. hit me up for a link to back up my statement.

Check out Nurburgring lap times for production cars. Remember the GTR has some issues concerning the use of launch control and the reliability of it's gearbox.

You apparently have 160k to throw around? I would rather buy a used c6 z06 (7.0L Ls7 505hp BTW) for 30k and pump 10k into her putting hp around 800-900hp and smack the asses of those pretty little Euro cars... Maybe im just being a muscle headed american, But after all, that what i am, an AMERICAN! who works in a machine shop and has bills to pay and a small family to provide for. I can't be fuckin with 160k cars. just plane old ridiculous... thats why the vette has my vote -.-

@JayandJenn07 The F430 is a 4.3L V8, the ZR1 is 6.2L V8. F430's especially around 2005-2006 tend to be in the 140-170 range, while the ZR1 is between 110-125. I would honestly pay the extra $15,000 and get an F430.

Love the ZR1, it's ridiculous amounts of brute strength, and its extreme performance capabilities but there is just something about a Ferrari that no other sports car can match. Ferrari's tend to go for a more balanced approach when it comes to performance delivery vs the domestics. It's super tactile, super responsive as it's almost alive in your fingers. No brute force needed here as it purely relies on balance, technique and tactility to execute the job. The new Italia should be quite the car

I dunno, uroprop. Have you seen the stats for the new Corvettes? Pretty impressive. As always, our straight line acceleration is quick, 0-60MPH in just 3.9 seconds, and 60-0 in 108 feet.
Here's your kicker. It puts out a slalom speed of 69.2, very nice for any country's cars. Skidpad holds up it's cornering pride as well, pulling 0.97g. Corvette C6 ZR1 posted a lap time around the Nurburgring of 7:42.99, beating many imports. Do a little research before you say an American car can't corner.

ah, now that you mention it that makes sense. Wikipedia has a good list of times that I was grabbing some of the stats from, so I might've misread a line for the ZR1 instead of the Z06.

Everyone shut up the gtr is an amazing car so is the ZO6 and ZR1 they all are good supercars and amazing feet of engineering. you guys arguing over tenths of a second on street cars. unless you are racing on a track, the tenth of a second does not matter so please clam down.

i still think i like the sound of the 360 more than the 430 for some reason. the 360 sounds a little more raw, while the 430 sounds kind of beefier with a deeper tone. and in a car that you want to be heard and seen in the 360 will grab the most attention from a further distance i think.

Check out Nurburgring lap times for production cars. Remember the GTR has some issues concerning the use of launch control and the reliability of it's gearbox.

it costs 50,000$ more and has 150bhp more!! are you mad.the GTR is good for its price range, u cant get anything near for its price. the ZR1 is in a different territory all together. and you also forget the V- spec is comin out, and that GTR's can be tuned well. the numbers dont lie, and the GTR is 50,000$ less, and is only 7 seconds slower on a 7 minute track?
