  • Sally who?

  • I'm sorry, I love the AE, but it's painful to listen to Don sometimes.

  • this is not discriminations, teaching facts is not discrimination

  • @ThePeacefulAtheistt what facts?

  • @hanspeterpitsch the age of the earth, evolution...

    you get the point?

  • @ThePeacefulAtheistt Oh ok sorry I was confused there, also atheist btw

  • so lying and not telling the turth is now known as descrimination, well I gues america isnt such a great country as they want to show themselfe as. Seriously, people who STOP saying america is a great country with SO MUCH liberty, its BS.

  • The Religious Viewpoints Antidiscrimination Act would do nothing but infect and poison the minds of the youth. Obscuring logical truth and instead replacing it with refutable, mythological banter not only regresses the human condition perpetually but also warps what we know as reality. I quite frankly fear for our fellow man and would like to issue a public announcement to those who are absent of such abhorrent tendencies... Remain ever vigilant and allow logic to always be your guide.

  • Laurie Anderson! :)

  • The reality is that we live in a puritanical Christian culture, and the most popular pastime for Christians is to control someone else's behavior. So you'll always have censorship and regulation. You'll always have attempts at silencing or altering the way other people speak and think. That's the important thing. If you can change information, you can change thought. That's the dangerous part.

It's just an attempt to control others.

We just have to be alert. That's all.

  • Oh give me a break!

So a Teacher asks how Thunder and Lightning form, and Little Timmy says "God makes it" and all of a sudden he's the smartest kid in class?

  • @Bowmaj21 Yeah this bullshit allows "God" to be the answer to every question. What causes acids to dissolve things? God. What causes Earth to have gravity? God. What causes rain? God crying. What causes earthquakes? God break dancing.

Graduating summa cum laude; little Timmy!!!!

    Speech!! Speech!!

Little Timmy: god god god god god god gdo god god gdo gdog dogd ogdo gdo god god god god og do god og odgodgo dgo dgo go do gdo god g od godgo dg odg odgo go godg odgog odg odgogod god god gdo god

  • I prayed to Jesus and he told me 1+1=Canada. Therefore I must be right.

  • maybe we should find some muslims, wiccans, norse, hindus and ancient egyptian god worshippers as teacher just to fuck with these ppl who push this kinda shit

  • Wouldn't every answer anyone could possibly give be correct, if the qualification was belief, instead of truth?

If I BELIEVE France is in the middle of Antarctica... should I get that marked correct on a test?

  • Well that makes tests REALLY easy. I don't have to pay attention, I don't have to study, I don't have to do anything. I just have to answer every question with "goddidit!" and It's a parade of A+s for me!

Except on math quizes where I answer everything with "42". Because that is after all the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.

  • my religion say the answer to anyting is "banana" teacher, can i get an A?

  • paaaastafaaaarianism

  • Wake the fuck up USA.

  • @OneStonedBastard well most have but most are religious and not all but many would support this nonsense

  • I believe personal experience, and a logical mind transcends science. Science helps a little, religion hurts a lot. Anymore than a personal experience, and you have someone elses views, but at the same time, some of the minds are weak, and absolutely need something to help regulate their decisions. Either way, religion is the wrong answer to that dilemma.

  • But can you sight me verses on the bible which is not a fact or a truth to us? Woldnt itself adhere to honesty and truthfulness, how come you are more confident regarding science where it all based from ideal theories interelated to GOd theory and exitence.

  • Ok, you made this easy. I cannot show you verses from the bible that you consider to be fact, because it is you that considers it to be fact. Just because something is written in a book doesnt mean its true. Look at harry potter for example. I could tell you I know of a school that no regular human knows about, and no regular human can attend. I can state this to be fact because there is a book documenting it, and there is no way that you can prove against the school, other than its not here.

  • Surely it is under a label of fiction, but give it a thousand years, and harry potter will be a messiah that has saved the world from corruption from the evil whatever the hell his name is. Honesty, and truthfullness come from inside of you, not from a book, and honestly you are a horrible person that would follow a belief that says that I will go to hell simply for not believing, and if you read my og comment right, then you would see I am not on the side of science, they only help a little.

  • I am on my side. It is up to me to empower myself to become a better man, and a decision made through god on that topic is just as easy as the decision to be a good person. Science doesnt have it right, and doesnt claim to have all the answers, they will come in time. Religion is entirely wrong, and says that it has the answers, which is just a reflection of the stupidity of mans ego, and inability to not be in control. Believe what you want, but the blood is on your hands if your a christian.

  • @noudge okay, when you read the bible and see yahweh commanding the israelites too rape and murder children, you draw the conclusion that this is just? personally, i read this is and i am disgusted. this is because my morality is not from the book, but from an outside source. do you believe everything in the bible is true and just? if so, hopefully nuts like you will die out soon, and if not, how do you judge what is good or bad without an outside moral reference?

  • @noudge uh sure as fuck not from the bible and im guessing you dont get it from the bible either and thats a compliment

  • ok, first of all, I know nothing of harry potter. I have never read a sentence from one of the books, and I have never finished on of those movies. Second of all, you should probably hold your judgements back The reason most of us have decided atheism is that we have done our research, and I can say I know a helluva lot more about the bible than I do harry potter The christian belief caves in on itself in a fit of hypocrisy, and barbarianism Read deuteronomy if you want to know why I am atheist

  • furthermore, I believe it is you that needs to do your research. The problem with your belief is that it is blasphemy to question the faith, which is why most of you are just willing to accept the brainwashing that comes from these ridiculous beliefs. Christianity basically copies from other religions that pre-date it almost down to a T. Virgin births, great floods, sacrifice for the better of man, all of these things were in other religions, and even done better in those other beliefs.

  • So, you can harpe on us atheists as much as you want, but the simple truth is that us atheists are probably more educated in your beliefs than you are. Once you approach the bible, and the concept of god represented in the bible then you will understand. The christian god is nothing but a murdering bully, and of course he came down in a physical representation, just to let us murder him in order for him to forgive the sins in us that he created in us. That doesnt sound backwards as hell to you?

  • As much as a Church or congrigation reaffirms delusion of a Christian so that they feel comfortable in their continued disassociation with reality when it comes to the satisfaction of thinking that, because of arbitrary ancient, outdated laws, they will go to eternal paradise for something as inconsequential as the belief in a sacrificial, divine zombie?

Because I can only assume you have to agree if that's your outlook on what atheism is, a self-satisfying dogma, though not many should agree.

  • @noudge deuteronomy22:13-21, deuteronomy17:2-5, deuteronomy21:18-21, do YOU agree with those? if you do please do the moral people a favor and shoot yourself

  • If you mark what people believe is right to be right...then surely every single student will get 100% irrespective of religion.

Whatever they put down will be what they believe to be right, by virtue of the fact that they gave it as their answer. lol

  • Unfortunately, I live in Louisiana, where christianity far outnumbers truth. However, there are a few of us who use logic, reason and a scientific approach to understanding things.

  • Comment removed

  • ur an idiot..did u no hitler was christian? athiesm is reality..

  • Ever heard of the Holy Wars?

    Witch hunts?

    Hitler was a devout CATHOLIC.

Religion is the WORST thing to happen to Humanity.

  • @EchoGamer A WICKED song !!!

  • Really? Countries with the highest standard of living: Denmark, Finland, Iceland. Countries with the highest levels of atheism: Denmark, Finland, Iceland.

Countries with high levels of religion: Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakisan, Saudi Arabia

I'm sorry sir, but you're wrong, perhaps you should do some research into what it really means to be an atheist. It sounds like the facts will surprise you.

  • osr0 your absolutely right, it sure as great being a danish atheist

  • Don't forget Japan!

  • You are an idiot.

  • Either way, what does it matter if Stalin or Mao were atheists? Atheism, unlike theism, has no dogma or commandments which you could use to justify atrocities. You just can't link the two.

You might as well say all people that have moustaches were murderers, because Stalin had one of those as well!

  • If you knew what it meant to be an Atheist you would be one.

  • Good one, I'm gonna remember this to quote if needed. haha

  • Rather simple, if you want your kids to say 'god said so' as an acceptable answer, you send then to a religious school.

  • well if that is the law then i have deep religious faith that every answer on my test is true. If a teacher counts any of my answers wrong it will be discrimination against my religion.

  • Religilous twattery such as this will never cease to amaze me.

  • i'm glad someone has some seriuos guts and true agenda on this topic. Because i'm sorrounded some far off minds. it was only some 500 years ago that galileo was told to shut up or be killed. Copernicus just the same. Ohhhh yes we must have faith, I no 1 thing if I don't work faith doesen't feed me. & for god believers only, have they seen him,or is this religion was based on people seen "ufos". After all there r some paintings from 500 yrs ago or so that depict the like. yes u people have faith

  • Religious Nut: Can I preach "intelligent" design creationism in your science class?

Atheist, Agnostic, Secularist, Humanist: May I teach the Scientific Theory of Evolution in your church?

Religious Nut: Uh... Um... Ur... (scratches head)

  • The supporters of this so-called act need to refer to the 1st Amendment to the Constitution!

  • holy crap, is that a law that is actually going to be enforced in america? what a bunch of retards. im so happy i live in europe, where teacehrs teach facts not bullshit

  • It's very sad that the church corporations support a degradation of the US society toward backwardness all to keep the collection plate funds rolling in.

  • This can't include all beliefs. What if my belief is that the earth is 20 hours old and made of delicious spaghetti? Are you allowed to make up any bullshit and it'll be correct if you say that it is your religious belief? Probably not. It's a stupid idea either way.

  • Wow...I hadn't heard of that bill before now. That's just insane. Again, I feel for you guys over there. Keep up the good fight.

  • Im being berated people lately because I've stated Atheists don't not only believe in a god or deity, but as well, reincarnation, ghost's, afterlife, and other types of unsupported supernatural occurrences, I'm thinking I'm being roused by theists, what do actual Atheists have to say?

  • Atheist just don't believe in a God by definition. From there it's fair game. Some do believe or suspect some other types of supernatural events as possible. For example I haven't ruled out the idea of ESP though I think it has a VERY VERY mundane and non-supernatural explanation. I certainly believe there is some events that would APPEAR supernatural on first look, whether they are or not would require a sound study.

  • Atheist simply say there is absolutely NO EVIDENCE of any god. Saying that we dont believe in god is saying that we acknowledge there is one! Even in your example the word is believe ESP exists; no empirical proof. There is quite a difference between knowing and believing.

  • well you can disbelieve a sugestion even if its not real. Example I don't believe in unicorns. That doesn't mean that there are unicorns and I disbelieve out of stubbornness. What I believed was that there is some anecdotal phenomena that people contribute to ESP. I think that the reality is more mundane. Likewise, there are actual real world unicorns, but they're nothing like the ones of myth. (ie the Rhinoceros)

  • This is false. By "we don't believe in god", they mean "we don't believe god exists".

  • Atheism is the lack of belief in a god or gods. We lack belief because the believers have not yet produced sufficient evidence to warrant belief.

It is important to note that atheism entails only a lack of belief. Some atheists would say "I believe there are no gods" instead of "I lack belief that any god exists." The former would have to be justified, the latter does not.

  • Atheism IS the lack of belief in deities. Atheist can choose to be either religious or non-religious and gnostic/agnostic.

A more accurate description of a person therefore should be triple-barrel, e.g. I am a non religious agnostic atheist.

  • lol "triple-barrel" might indeed be the most accurate description. Someone should coin that phrase.

  • Your agnostic friend is probably an atheist, if this friend lacks belief in a god or gods.

Agnosticism refers to knowledge, not belief. Perhaps your friend is mis-diagnosing his beliefs.

I really hate to get so hung up over labels, though. They cause confusion and make the issue at hand muddled.

  • ESP isnt a religion based idea, now if you mean it to be an ability to communicate with god, well yes it would be, but the religious based beliefs, ghosts reincarnation, everlasting soul, are things Atheists discount, no one should or is telling anyone what to believe, but if a person has reservations about the posibility of an afterlife or ghosts and such they are agnostic, having extra sensory perceptions that do not involve a god are human genetetics when we die they die with us

  • Only a fool would believe a claim before the claim met the burden of proof. "God" or "souls" or any other supernatural occurence has not yet demonstrated enough evidence to warrant belief.

Atheists merely reject that which you assert. It is the believer that has the burden of proof, not the other way around. We're still waiting on you to make your case.

  • Oh, I'm with you brother, we don't have to prove bothing to those foolish beleivers. We can put the burden of proof on them, we don't have to walk a spiritual path or study the sages, let those fools try to prove something supernatural exists.

  • see what I mean, this highpriestofatheism guy is trying to pretend to be an Atheist and acting like an ass, instead of intellectual dialogue, theist's now seem to have resorted to commenting as atheists, making absurd and idiotic claims, What to do?, I guess ignore them is the only reasonable response, but sometimes they play along just long enough, that I think they are being serious and just misguided. It is unfortunate but these people are a reality, wouldn't god be proud of them?

  • Its just out of their grasp, i guess. They re trying to synchronize or to analogue self-dependent living of Atheist and perceived forms of the phenomena as "another religion". Because theyre so used with worshiping, they think Athesit must also be worshiping something ... Poor guys.

  • i am so sick of shurchy nut-jobs trying to force their superstisions into science classes. i want to start a new initiative, let's force them to teach evolution in bible study. boy, they'd whail and cry about that.

  • oops, i meant churchy nut-jobs.

  • The world will end in 2012!!!

  • when is this show on? i want to call in.

  • Amazing that these things is even an issue in US. In Europe the EU has decided that EVERYONE shall learn about evolution and other proper science in science class (For instance that the earth is about 4.6 billion years old). Teaching creationism in science class is illegal in Europe. MAN US is far behind Europe in these issues.

  • yes it deeply saddens me

  • true very true i hope i can eventualy help deal with this problem (some how)

  • I love the little songs in the beggining so much.

  • This is just the backwater hillbilly states doing it, the Dumbfuckistan of America.

  • I think you mean all of the usa.

  • No, I think I was pretty clear.

  • Wow what stupidity... now if this is truly followed there is no wrong answers. Unless of course, as most likely will be, only Christianity is promoted.

  • Why is all of this rising to such a fever pitch now? It seems like we may be witnessing the death throws of fanatical religion in the United States. Only a cornered animal fights this hard. Either that, or we are witnessing an ascendant theocracy(God forbid).

  • I will pray to every god ever made up in all mankinds time that it isn't the latter... we've had enough of those, and we know exactly where they lead.

But then, some Christians LIKE the model of freedom built up in the Middle East right now. If only it were the Christians in charge. Freedom for them, and nobody else... ideal for them, eh?

Lets hope we don't have to rely on faith it doesn't happen...

  • WOW, is this really happening in the US? It's so hard to believe!

  • this is why it is so important that there are discussions and groups like the atheist experience. People need to see such bigotry and have it be openly exposed.

  • As a bio teacher, if any law like this gets passed, I will not comply. ID is not science and not welcome in a science class of ANY kind. If they force it on me, I will stand outside every church each Sunday and preach science on a public sidewalk!

  • Love your reply!

  • We need more teachers like you. ^_^

  • I'll be right there with you. Keep up the good fight!

  • Bravo sir!

  • Thank you and I mean it. If these bozos think they can bounce us back to the bronze age, they have another thing coming. With Bush and his xtians around for 8 yrs, it has put us way behind other countries in science endeavours and put us on a serious path to theocracy. I am only one man, but I will do my best to help our youth find truth through science methods and not some ancient book of fairytales.

  • No, thank you. People like you are what your country (and by extension, the rest of the world) needs. I suspect you are probably not as alone as you might think, are there no local organisations that might be able to back you up? (parent groups or secular organisations)

The way creationists are fighting this betrays a great deal of desperation, after all they are looking to use loopholes in the law rather than make an honest case. This cannot help their standing and people are now seeing it.

  • I teach in the bible belt and I am very alone but have tenacity and courage.

  • Hmm I imagine that would be difficult there. Even Mississippi and Texas have atheist support groups though, so I would suggest googleing them. Even if you don't want to specifically affliate with atheist groups on this issue they might be able to put you in touch with secularist groups who share your views on science teaching.

  • @saxmanchiro now that is what I am talking about. I as a student would refuse to take that class. It is not science. If they do, call me up or something, we can preach science on the sidewalk!

  • @Shawn21769 We might have to get in line. Seems the sidewalks are full of fundies trying to sell their supernatural friend in the sky. To make it easier for them, they have to threaten their audience with violence and suffering in a very hot nonexistent place. What 'stick' can we use to spread our truth? Oh ya, let's take all the conveniences of modern living away from them until they 'see' the science behind those modern conveniences. Plus we can refer them to a farmer for an ox and cart.

  • @saxmanchiro nothing in the bible disagrees with that :)

  • @only2nocrew

A lot of things in the bible disagree with science.

  • @Amphioxys lol, u don't get the joke

  • Antidiscrimination Act = epic fail.

    Period.

  • Fucking creationists! If they want creationism taught in schools, then we should be allowed to teach science in their churches.

  • did i just hear that right..... can i get a doctorate in science by answering all questions with 'God did it'. will this work with maths....my god (the god Inumerate the great) says that 1+1 equals a miraculous 16.345. how about chemistry..... my other god (chemicalus fuckupodus) says that washing up liquid and lighter fluid makes pure oxygen. i'm giving this technology to nasa for the next mission. retarded idiots that perpetuate this crap will get us killed and make us as retarded as they are.

  • Creationist retards retarding science again.

  • i hope this doesn't affect canada.if so i'm just gonna teach my kid home school.fuck that shit.some fucking wing nut telling my kid the worlds 6000 years old then some real person telling him it's billions of years old.the kid will become so confused his head will explode.fuck i hate religion sssoooo much it drives me insane.

  • This is just great. How many ways can a group of people find to get offended? Apparently I have not seen it all as I once thought. Literally they have no idea what proof and evidence are and even knowing it plays no part in their lives. It is the same as me saying in an anatomy class that the heart pumps fudge just cause I think that would be cool! I should get an A!!!!!

  • If religion enters the science classroom, then science should be allowed in churches, mosques, etc.

  • Thats complete bullshit. People could just make up whatever answer they want to pass a science class. Even an atheist like me could jus say that god didnt if we didnt want to study and do the work.

  • The fact that that act got so far is...

    I-N-S-A-N-E.

  • It was on CNN just the other day as to what bible Obama chose? and, what verse he may have chosen? What is next, a class on **Green eggs and Ham**?

It is rather freaky considering how far we have advanced only to have these religious bozos insist on bringing us back to the dark ages!

I feel like sitting outside of a church and saying **I am squishing your head** as I sit from a church just far enough so when I put my fingers at eyes height I can pretend to squish their heads!

  • KARIN094

Kids In the Hall(squish your head) Good stuff. I will be right next to you doing the same my friend!

  • I think that the anti-discrimination act is a great idea! That means that my firm and devout beliefs in the Flying Spaghetti Monster will finally be accepted by academia and that I will not be punished for saying that I was touched by His Noodly Appendage! Hoor-ray!

  • hmmmmm, what's that word? REALITY!!!!

    hahaha

  • If the religious get their way....the US will be in the stone age in very short order.

The Chinese will be the next superpower anyway. The US is simply fucked.

  • I want a medical degree; it's my sincere belief that people can be healed by witch doctors. I demand a diploma and a position at a major hospital. Don't discriminate against me!!!

  • What a joke. Little Johny can get A+ in science class by answering "God dun it" for every question.

  • That bill is nothing like what I thought it would be, before they explained. Disturbing!

If such a bill passes, then students could go on to say ANYTHING they wanted in classes, and be allowed to pass.

  • omfg the "god did it" joke could come true. This is both sad and hilarious. Way to drag the US back towards the freakin' stone age.

I can gaurantee that if this is implemented anywhere, that it will be parodied/abused in hilarious fashion.

I can't wait to see the first science test where EVERY SINGLE answer involves the flying spaghetti monster, or maybe something random like flocks of magical space turtles. Also, if this happens in your area, DO IT. And challange any low marks. :D

  • ANYONE WHO HAD THIS PASSED fuckin' abuse the system!!!!! be line "the universe doesn't exist" or something and do it right back to them!!

  • Indeed, this MUST be abused to make a point anywhere that it passes; by both students and teachers.

Answer/teach that the universe is 37 seconds old and that all of our memories have been implanted. Or, go with ancient greek mythology. OR incredibly sexist/racist/xenophobic Bible literalism.

  • OMG! someone would totally go BORAT on heir asses!!! XDXD

first man, then donkey, then horse, the little slug animals, then woman XD

i hate fighting hate with hate, but it might be the only way!

  • nuh-uh, it's fighting stupidity with a parody of stupidity. ;)

  • fuckin' awesome.... the one reason i might ACTUALLY wish i lived in America XD

to be fuckin hilarious XD (and of course insight political change)

  • The Religious Viewpoints Antidiscrimination Act... Sounds a lot like the "alternate viewpoints" argument...

I guess I'll pull a Bobby Henderson on Sally. I'll get her to know about my religious viewpoints as a Pastafarian, and how His Noodly Appendage is the ruling work of this dimension.

Gravity is just a theory! Believe Intelligent Falling! FSM bless you all.

  • i dont get it i really dont

how can people be so dumb

i mean how is it possible

    is it genetics?

is there to much inbred in america? do we see the results of this now?

  • that annoying woman telling that story at the start and end.. what an irritating way of speaking

  • Oi, she's my bird, so leave off her.

  • seriously - it's kind of dogmatic... "skeptics" sounding crazy doesn't give 'us' a good image.

  • Statement from Gov. Rick Perry "Freedom of religion should not be mistaken for freedom from religion".

Shouldn't that tell us what they really want?

  • At 1:54, Matt is being far too kind about Sally Kern. This vile piece of putrid protoplasm wants nothing less than a Christian Taliban. Sally Kern, crap like the Religious Anti-discrimination act passing the house and the senate, and 66% of OK voting for McCain/Palin are just some of many reasons I am proud to be from Oklahoma - FAR from Oklahoma. My sincere condolences to the three hundred Oklahoma citizens that actually have brains - and use them.

  • funny intro

  • great video

  • In my area (KY) the churchs have taken over the grade school sports programs (they call it Upward Progam). You now have to participate in prayer and other religious activities for your child to play grade school sports. They do this so they can get to our children and begin the brainwashing process. The grade schools eliminated the sports when the churchs took them over. To coach or ref you must lead prayer, I will take a pass.

  • bdarnell - This Upward Program isn't run through the school but through the church, is that right? I did a look on the net and that was really all I could find about it.

  • Wow. I wonder how long it would take for kids to set up their own religion in which all questions are answered "The invisible pink unicorn did it." or Tipudi for short. "What is 2+2?" -"Tipudi". It'll be straigh A's for everyone.

  • I dunno, there'd be some kids who would forget that answer.

  • That would be insanely awesome. "Canada lies where?" "Ask the unicorn"

  • the woman sounds like she's high.

  • Agreed, but he is becoming a media person. Their job is to be always on top of the debate and lead and guide the debate.

  • Excellent point from the caller. I did think Matt was being a little rude, though, interrupting him all the time like that.

    Oh, well....

  • sorry to say this ... but Americans have serious education problems

  • ya thats why so many of them are dumb.

  • well ... yea .. i just want to say it in a nicer way .. but when you get right down to it ... they are retards

  • That's an understatement. Our education system is just as damaged and broken as our health-care system. Our education system needs to be protected from external religious and political influences.

  • i had no idea there were problems with the health-care system too.

is it as bad as with education?

  • Where do you live? Antarctica? LOL

  • Worst ... Romania :)

  • You might want to see Michael Moore's Sicko.

  • just seen the trailer. and OMG ... hell we have better health-care then America.

thanks for the info... i'm going to watch the movie
