@TheJayhawks99 Oh no, but I personally know a lot of the scareactors. :D I go to HHN often so the scareactors tend to remember me and friendships often start. They're usually cool people! Not only that, but the creative director John Murdy is very close to his fans. So it is really easy to talk with him.

I know a LOT of the scareactors and they've confirmed they get paid for this. They even join a union. Do you really think Universal would just pick random volunteers for an event that holds auditions to cast its scareactors, gives custom clothing, custom masks, and has them doing physically strenuous work for over 8 hours a night? It's a paid position.

@TheRocketVoltage O.O well we both have good points. but only one of us could be right. besides they have a couple 20 min breaks. and dont scare every single person they see. besides it's fun as hell. think about it: dressing up as one of your favorite movie killers in a movie quality costume and scaring the shit out of complete strangers. so even if i didnt get paid, i would be a scareactor!

@HHNReport These people work until 2am and easily leave the park past 3. A lot of them have families and these work schedules strongly affect their time with them. Because they are in an acting position, there is a specific union by Universal they join which requires a paid fee. Usually this fee is taken out in increments on each paycheck. Scareacting is definitely a passion for these people, but at the same time, it is far from non-profit volunteer work. It is very strenuous work for them!

@TheJayhawks99 Well because Universal is a movie producing company and being a scareactor is an actual acting position, Universal puts them under a working actor's union for the duration of the job.

It's like any regular union in any job, except for actors. Think of a union as a group, where they protect their own and make sure each and all are treated fairly. ^^
