When I first learned this song, it was in school. We were learning poems by Edgar Allen Poe. First, we listened to it being spoken. then, sung, and then read it ourselves in front of the class. I was in 7th grade i think, but I am not sure. I only remember flashes. That happens sometimes. This song is a good song, and maybe the people that dislike it dislike the lyrics, not the singer. I can't speak for the US, but here in Canada we have a massive celtic heritage. Nova Scotia = New Scotland, and Cape Breton speaks better gaelic then most of Ireland. Newfoundland celebrates St Patricks day as a bank holiday making it 1 of 2 places to do so outside Ireland. Scottish, Irish, Celtic festivals are held throughout the summer, which are true to the heritage and culture. I dont consider myself anything other then Canadian, but we (at least part of the country) are celtic people.
