@colorinthemoon You are very welcome for the video and thank you for the comment. As for lethal techniques I do not know the audience who the people watching actually are. I do not want little kids watching and practicing such techniques. The only people I show that stuff to are my personal students whom I trust and can do hands on training. Video learning is great but not the same as hands on training and even lethal techniques are only taught to students showing they are responsible adults.
hi there im an aikido guy but i was recently looking into adding some karate/ninjutsu/wingchung type striking so i was wondering what you thought of a Makiwara board or punching inot a bucket of sand ? also do you use dit da jow liniment or anything to heal your hands after practice? any tips or advice would be greatly apreatiated
@moviemobster23 I rarely use dit da jow or any type of ointment or concoction for my hands they just naturally heal. I suggest a Makiwara board as opposed to punching into a bucket of sand. Makiwara boards are relatively safe on your hands so long as you hit properly and just take it very slow and then hit with more intensity as you progress. There are videos on youtube how to make Makiwara boards if you do not want to buy one. Aikido is a great art happy training . Thanks for the question
oi seen the rollin pin i commented too quicky lol ive heard about using the rolling pin, but as i mentioned before I have an Eskrima stick, and i forgot to ask when working on the shin, do you also use the mallet on ur knee i dont think i would, but just wondering because i dont know if the conditioning would be even through out the leg, i just dont wanna be injured lol especially when i get oldr, you know what ur doing and that is cool, thanks.
@DjRodimusPrimeXyZ I have been trying to write you a comment and it keeps disappearing on me. Dit Da Jow is hard to find nowadays but is good. Do not worry about the mallet thing you are doing concrete push ups that is good enough. The rolling pin, hitting a heavy bag or using your stick on the shins rolling it is good enough. Never ever whack your joints the knee , elbow with a mallet.Especially the knee just hit a heavy bag to condition. Good question and thank you for watching.
very good stuff, i been doing some of that stuff for 2 years, knuckle push ups, and doing them on concrete as well. the shin ive been doing for almost a year, but my question is after using the mallet, or if u dont have a mallet, would could u use, and do u have to put dat dit jow, or is aloe vera ok. i have an Escrikma stick, but i havent used it on my shins. thanks, keep up the good work.
@MsSandCrane Grasshoppers are not supposed to do this stuff until they can catch the pebble from the hand LOL. I am glad you found it interesting grasshopper and thanks for watching and commenting.
That's pretty cool Rick! My husband uses baseball bat to condition his shin and there is a shin conditioning class in our MMA class that he conducts once a month to strengthen the shin for Muay Thai kicks. I've never seen anyone do this method though so that was pretty cool. I've seen some old Karate masters punch a train for conditioning, some crazy stuff too. Its always good to see different methods :) Thanks for sharing!
@CoopersNEMA I have seen the videos of Cooper , Yuli and he is very tough I can imagine his classes are amazing. Thank you for watching , commenting and your points.
TU! nothing like old school training :) I had a coach from Thailand who came from the mountains, and his idea of Muay Thai began with shin conditioning. thanx to him, this training kept the bullies off of me, in high school my nick name was shins of steel. take care bro!
@wmpyr You are lucky Sensei Wmpyr to have trained with such a master , I guess I should call you shins of steel now. Thanks for watching and the comment.
@DTGtaihojutsu oh no, that was back in the day, now it's like shins of butter lol, back in high school, they were much stronger, there is a video of me snapping one of my escrima sticks off my shin, not that hard to do, especially considering it wasn't a burnt rattan stick.
@vegdevil call me Rick my friend. I appreciate the Sensei respect thing but calling me by my first name is cool. Through you tube I am not in person teaching you but just doing videos to refresh the memories of those who practice the arts or to give people some self defense tips.
Thanks a bunch for the encouraging reply, Sensei. I practice Krav Maga at the Dojo and I'm very happy with the military style training. However, whenever I get free time I watch videos from Park Sensei, yours and few others. While Krav Maga is purely a hard art. I believe Taijitsu takes more time and makes a person more aware of the dynamics. I intend to learn some disciplines of the Ninjitsu in future.. Bow.
@vegdevil Remember you have taijutsu in your Krav Maga it more or less means body movement in a combat art . The Bujinkan call their movement Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu but I could have sworn that I once read Hatsumi Sensei mentioning that a flower arrranger has their own Taijutsu not referring about it in combat but their own natural body movement for the task which has to be done. Thank you so much for watching my vids. Stick with Krav Maga it is awesome and focus on the movements and how you move
I learned similar stuff, same time frame. I was taught to use my kali sticks or a coke bottle for rolling my shins, dont see why a rolling pin would be much different, except smoother. Getting the bone built up and the nerves deadened helps a lot. I only condition my first 2 knuckles, so for pushups all my weight is focused on them, same way I hit. It's all about time and patience. I use my kali sticks on my arms and hands too. Cool video.
@Calimantalkin See you know your stuff coke bottles I totally forgot about that and yes my friends who practice kali/escrima/arnis do the same thing. I think to the average person seeing what we do freaks them out and they think we are nuts but it is the way we were taught to not feel pain when we hit. I want my kicks to feel like a baseball bat hitting someone and the same for the hands like a brick. You are right I should have focused more on the knuckles. Thanks for watching and the points..
No wonder you look like a solid block of rock, seems that you were training to be rock solid :D ( kidding a bit ) ! I tried a bit of this, like you were conditioning at the beginning of the demonstration with a little chair and a piece of cloth on top of the chair surface as to not make direct contact with the wood. My mom tossed the chair out after doing it for a few days and that was the end of it :D for me. Any tips on how to develop stronger bone structure besides the training, as in food?
@VickThorrable Vick I appreciate you saying I look like a solid piece of Rock I need to work on some areas of the body which are more like quick sand LOL. Nice to hear about you working on the chair. As for nutrition brother I cheat too much. However when I am not cheating I try to limit my carb intake and tons of protein. Tons of water. When I eat carbs they are complex carbs and not junk. It is very hard but try to stay away from processed food. Tim follows the Paleo diet. Isolate Whey is good
Thanks a lot for posting the videos so far. Really appreciate it. However, I don't think its very extreme. I practice Krav Maga and we do all of these conditioning at the end of each class. Including the wooden roller on the shin and hitting the tyres. Also we do some resistance training by lifting and dragging moderately heavy objects around. We also do various hammer exercises to develop power in the forearm. But again a lot of people quit during 1st 2 classes. Bow. :)
@vegdevil you know what my friend to some it may not be extreme at all but I can assure you some people watching this on you tube will go is that guy nuts doing that ? I am glad you are doing this in Krav Maga it is an amazing art . Sounds like your school is doing everything for training good stuff. You are also doing Hojo Undo with the hammer exercises. Thank you for the comment , Points and watching.
Nice reminder what people have gone through to get where we are today. I haven't ever conditioned my shins other than back when i was doing TKD & was coping plenty of impacts when blocking kicks with kicks. I'm concerned about blood clots in that area of the body but that's just me. i prefer to condition the knife hand so as not to risk damaging the tools that are my likelihood, my hands. Great to see I'm not the last one of a dieing breed LOL.
@1pathseeker Very true Mark about our forearms and legs getting conditioned by all the blocks from our training partners and such. My tools are my hands as well and I work on the knife hand as well. When Benny "The Jet" Urquidez experienced the leg kicks overseas I guess well over 30 years ago he was a pioneer in conditioning the legs for shin kicks. My teacher and from me reading tons of articles being a sponge as a kid I started doing this training. Thanks Mark for the comment and watching.
great information. It takes many years to condition the hands etc. I punch a stone no problems. Common sense and go slowly at the conditioning is the key.
I like that you thanked the soldiers for their service. Thank you for the video.
@socks1949 You hit it right on the nail "Common Sense and go slowly at the conditioning that is the key" I should have said that in my video. I see that if you are hitting a stone no problem you have conditioned your hands too. Today is a special day where I live and remembering the soldiers who have fought for my freedom to do what I want is important to me. Also the soldiers who are still fighting. Thank you for your comment , points and watching.
@TheDemzlyChannel I am no master Demz still a student just learning and as I get older I see things in a different light , I had always heard from my elders "you will see when you get older and reflect" well my friend it has come to fruition. I have two students who call themselves masters who left me over 15 years ago and they are both higher ranked than I one is 6th dan the other 7th dan. After 4th it is more about politics to me which I do not play. I am seeing my way now. Thanks bro.
Traditional training is what I still do, and this video reminded me that, despite having the privilege now of going to the gym, nothing beats training like this. Nothing. So happy you uploaded this again =D!
@Loyal2law you probably thought it was old since I have made a couple of short vids in the past encompassing all of these things. I just appreciate that you watch and like the stuff Jay. Thanks again my friend.
@ShuriKurogane I always try to be cognizant of what I am posting to ensure I am not posting something too extreme to strangers and not what I reserve to my personal students. I do not want children or beginners in the arts to harm themselves. Thank you for the comment , points and watching and the thumbs up.
@blackswordshinobi Thanks Billy for watching and the comment and your points sir. I do worry about kids nowadays and how they can sign in as adults and do whatever they want. My daughter is now an adult on her own but we always monitoried her internet access even in her late teens. Thanks again brother.
@blacksilkblacksilk I see I am not the only one who did this type of stuff , I use a wooden mallet for myself but only wanted to show the rubber mallet for my viewers. Glad I have a friend who does not think I am nuts LOL. You are right dit da jow is amazing but I find it hard to find legit stuff here in Canada and I do not believe in the recipes on line. Thanks for supporting me Silk as always and watching and commenting and your points.
@DTGtaihojutsu Nuts ??? There is nothing like traditional training, when done properly.
Sadly I have to agree on the dit da jow. It is not an easy thing to comy by the legit stuff.
Normally I try to find a traditional Hung gar school, or a legit chinese herbalist. Prefarably a traditional Hung Gar school. Sometimes, once the Sifu sees that you are legit as qwqell he might depart with some of his stuff.
But as a rule the good stuff is always hard to come by. No matter what "the good stuff" is.
Thanks for the video, and for not uploading lethal techniques. :)

Fond memories of traditional training coming up when I see this.
Also you emphasis on caution is very right.
Used to just bash my right hand into concrete when i was young (and stupid). One knuckle still has a skin condition.
Years later I did it properly with the left hand, and the left hand shows no sign at all - and can punch as hard.
My advice is to try and get some dit da jow, and perhabs perform some breathing exercises to round it up.
Rubber mallet is a genius idea.
thanks for postin
