@ganthonyvr No, don't recognize them but I was gone for about 35 years before returning so I missed a couple of generations! As for the spelling, you can go in to your videos page and edit the title.

@ganthonyvr That would be great, wouldn't it! For us that love this town, we take it even with all its warts. This video was meant to excite people to clean it up AND people were starting to get excited! I guess I just have to post it again, huh?! :) Salinases are good people! :) Sometimes, things just don't work out, right? :)
@LoanCougar her name is anna isabel salinas and we were together about 3 years. her whole family lives in benavides and some of them in freer i think. she took me to benavides and it was my best trip of all i fell in love with that town. i made a video of my trip too. actually it took me 9 videos to upload the whole trip on youtube. i dedicated my trip videos to anna's father Private Jose Luis Salinas 1950-1992 you should check out the videos when u get a chance.
@ganthonyvr I've seen them. Pretty cool the way you documented your trip. By the way, Benavides is spelled with "s" instead of a "z"...at least not the town anyway. Some people spelled their last name with a "z" (requires the dealie over "i").
@rocco210 Next time you see her, tell her to join Benavides Connect on facebook. She still has a lot of fans here in Benavides that would be tickled pink to see her connect. We are very proud of her! She dreamed big and made her dreams a reality. Her nephews, the Palacios Brothers, have a band that post videos. They are friends of Benavides Connect and I repost them for all 1700 friends (and counting) to get a chance to see them.

I finally found some by accident and realized the problem. I figured maybe Bonnie had changed the spelling of her name to coincide with the way most people pronounce it in English! :) I'll share the video with Benavides Connect. My name is Chumbe Salinas; my father was Adan. She may not remember them but I know her parents knew them.
Good vid with good lyrics It made me think of my old school days when Freer played Benavides Eagles back in 72-75 Life was good then. I am right down the hwy from you at Freer I came back after I left in 77. been back 5 years now. I am planning on going there to hunt coins and possible other relics (metal detecting). you have very old buildings and good history. After that I go to Realitos, La Chona and Ramirez.......Que dios te bendiga my friend

I'm now retired and live here again..and when I leave for several days and come back, "this ol' farm feels like a long lost friend. It's good to be back home again! "

i was just there for new years to see my grandparents....... everything is almost gone. SAD :( it was much more alive when i visited as a little girl @ the age of 11.... im now 32.......
Benavides, TX happens to my grandfather's hometown. I was doing a random search on google...I typed in Benavides, TX and ghost town, and I stumbled across your video! I like it! Unfortunately, I think that after my grandfather and all the other people who live there (mostly elderly it seems) pass on, there won't be anything left. Right now, I think the small handful of people still living there and the schools are the only things keeping the town going.
