It's kind of overkill to have that much low end power if it causes the house and all its contents to start buzzing and rattling. Very annoying to listen to the windows shaking when you're trying to enjoy the sensuous sound of the bass (imho) That have been said, who wouldn't want an 18"??? ;-)))
@CVLova its all about the lows! seems to peak between 26-30 hz though. massive window and door flex throughout the house @ these frequencies. I don't give my designs away for free /: I could do up the blueprints again on google sketchup and email them to you for $10.
@BroccoliBrigardist I was meaning to imply that i designed and built the box:) Left the sub building to Fi. The amp is sitting on 2 layers of poly-fill and 3/4'' of memory foam type material. There is almost no amplifier vibration:)

im thinkin bout trying something like this, but hooking up a Digital Designs 1512 sub in my room.. probably would be best off getting a pro audio amp ?
@snoop6604 Id go with a crown pro audio amplifier, but you could get a 12v power inverter, convert a pc power supply (which would only get you about 10amps or 120 watts of power) and use a car audio amp, use a bass guitar amp, or a home audio amp like a dayton plate amp from parts express. They sell a 240 watt plate amp for $99 or so!
@Frietpan If you can build your own box, then i can help you out. I would suggest using a single 12" dayton audio titanic MK III ($167.35) in a custom make box which I could help you design.
So what is your price rage and can you or somebody you know build a box?
i should be able to find someone that can build it yes (if i have clear instructions :P and prefferably in centimeters) and i have been looking at dayton subs
but the model you picked isnt available here, i could go with the RSS390HF-4 15"
(250 euro) other choise is a SD315-88 (70 euro) but than i would need 2 and doesnt go as low as the first one.
@Frietpan The RSS390HF-4 would be great! what king of bass are you trying to go for? Home theater, DJ, a sub to play chopped and screwed, or just a musical sub? If I can come to a understanding or your listening needs, I can design you a box, in metric, that would be easy to understand and build.
@Frietpan No problem, last questions: how much floor space can it take up, and do you have access to 19mm MDF? also send me a message containing your email so we can further discuss the details.
@Frietpan It's cheaper in a car cus of room gain (or car acting as another speaker box and boosting 20hz frequencies.).
If you are designing for 20hz in living room like I was, maelstrom x-21 is what you want but they are not made anymore. So find something similar! No replacement for displacement and raw cone area, especially at 20hz. Or check out rotary subwoofers if you have a spare room to use for it. Or build a huge ass horn!
@snoop6604 car amps in home don't work very good. it can only be done properly using a very expensive inverter that puts out at least 50A @ 14.4v. these are the things they use at stores for amps on display.
Its WAY WAY cheaper to get a pro audio amp, crown is very good, but expensive. I use a behringer EP2500, I highly recommend it. you'll also need an active crossover for your setup.
ur gonna fuk up ur speaker under powering it like that...plus u might as well go big or go home...well go big IN home in this case but MAN u just GOTTA have a lot of power for that big of a speaker!!! It has so much untapped potential and it's kinda disappointing :(
@landerchek You are right when you say that this subwoofer has the capability to handle more power, though when you say that i am going to "fuck up" the speaker, that is plain ignorant. amplifier clipping, or supplying to much power is what hurts subwoofers, not providing them a clean signal of less power than they are capable of handling. That is like saying that you are going to hurt the transmission in a car by installing an engine half as powerful as its designed to handle.
Every cunt has a point of making their subwoofer have the most excursion and they think theyre the king of car audio or some shit then get mad at people when they complain that their mic is distorting and what not. Fair enough if the point of the video IS to show the subwoofers max potential, but 9/10 people are usually just showing off their ride / setup.
Nice vid man I agree very clear bass I hate all the vid's with the bass so loud that it just distorts and you can not here jack shit LOL very nice sound I only ever herd these sub's distorted they sound amazing on low volume did not expect that. I from the UK not see any of these over here but I still very happy with my 10w7. LOL nice vid mate.
I EAT BASS FOR DINNIR I NEED 3500 RMS OR BETTER...thats nice i have subs in my room i just got done recording so everyone look @ my vids check it out and rate
You remind me of me, and that is a tune i have it on spotify :) im running two 10inch subs off my home cinema. the bass seems to be near my ceiling though. stand on my bed and it hits harder than sitting on bed. :o
Nice! I also have a 18" sub approx 350 watts made for having at home in living rooms e.g. Works like hell! Allthough the room mine is placed in is actually too small for such a big sub...
very nice.i think you're the second person on youtube that didn't turn up the bass and volume to max to make a "sub test".you kept the bass low enough so when you use the headphones it sounds really good.
@costellom5 yo listen to the song or the sub? i can search on youtube for that song.. but here i want to see how much flex, how deep and how hard that sub in that box with 350 watts can go.
@costellom5 i did that in my first vid, then i turned it up to full cause in the vids i do that, i have a DB meter out and i'm trying to break my current DB record(147 db @ 10')
nice man i got a btl 18 in my room on a boss 2000 mono amp i dont think its getting the true 2000watts rms it needs but when i get my first car im getting a powerbass xta-4000d =)
I dont understand why people dont just use dj amps instead of wiring up psu's and shit? You can buy a cheap 1000w RMS amp for about 120-130 bucks off of amazon....
@ninjafisheez I assume that you mean for the inputs. All you need is an xlr to rca cable, you can buy them cheap only for about 8 bucks. As for connecting the dj amp to your subwoofer most dj amps have standard speaker terminals.
I bet the low part of that song that hits for a split second pounds with that thing! that box is very nice. I dont think people understand how much bass is produced from a true 350 watts. Everyone sees these pyle amps and sony stuff that rates everything rediculously, so they think you need like 4000 watts to sound good when you dont
that is so true, an amp that puts out lets say 1000 watts RMS would sound amazing, sony, and all that shit overrates their shit like comon 1300watts from sony? hell no,
@imdaman1211 Thats the problem in the car audio world. So much propaganda! I ran my 15 Fi BL off 450wrms from a RockFord amp and it pounded like a champ.
@imdaman1211 No we see those sony and plye amp as crap, because of the quality and output, i bought me a great amp which put out 2200 rms and have a great build and sound quality for $389
@TheGamerPalace Dude, i don't know what the fuck your saying, my 2, 8 inch subs on my 150 watt pyle amp fill a entire basement with good bass and treble with almost 0.3% THD.(none the less the speakers are Black Phantoms)
@bait28 I bet they do. 150 rms amp in a house will pound, but in a car it wont do nothing. But i cant lie i use to do the same in my house and i also had sony, pioneer, and plye. Was good for the moment until i started to learn more and found better amps.
@TheGamerPalace Depends on the setup. Most generally in a house youll need more power than in a car since there is more room, unless the you have it setup perfectly sound wont resonate the way you want. 150 true watts is actually a good amount of power for a subwoofer in a car or a house. Obviously for people like me who love bass, 150wrms just aint gonna cut it. But it will still pound none the less.
@bait28 .3% is not great quality. And that sounds like BS, I bet the thd is closer to 1%. Even so, there are many other factors to consider in an amplifier other than power output and thd. I have an old 600wrms Precision Power amplifier that has a thd rating of .005%. Now thats sound quality. But like I said, there are other factors to consider. And frankly, neither Sony nor Pyle can deliver true power and sound quality the way dedicated brands can.
@320bit nope, it .3% on they Pyle amp, but the amps i use are my Kenwood M-2 with 1000 Dampening, 440 Watts RMS @ 4ohms, and .005% THD, My carver TFM-55x 750 watts RMS, and a dampening of 500 and THD <.005%. I also have a Carver TFM-15CB, TFM-6CB, Carver PM 1.5, Phillips C-577, and a alphasonik PMA-2175.
damn the lows are hitting ahrder then i though they would have on my system

I bet the low part of that song that hits for a split second pounds with that thing! that box is very nice. I dont think people understand how much bass is produced from a true 350 watts. Everyone sees these pyle amps and sony stuff that rates everything rediculously, so they think you need like 4000 watts to sound good when you dont
imdaman1211 2 years ago 22
that is soooooo true.
dvcsub 2 years ago
that is so true, an amp that puts out lets say 1000 watts RMS would sound amazing, sony, and all that shit overrates their shit like comon 1300watts from sony? hell no,
ROBLN460 2 years ago
@imdaman1211 Thats the problem in the car audio world. So much propaganda! I ran my 15 Fi BL off 450wrms from a RockFord amp and it pounded like a champ.
320bit 1 year ago
@imdaman1211 No we see those sony and plye amp as crap, because of the quality and output, i bought me a great amp which put out 2200 rms and have a great build and sound quality for $389

@TheGamerPalace Dude, i don't know what the fuck your saying, my 2, 8 inch subs on my 150 watt pyle amp fill a entire basement with good bass and treble with almost 0.3% THD.(none the less the speakers are Black Phantoms)
bait28 9 months ago
@bait28 I bet they do. 150 rms amp in a house will pound, but in a car it wont do nothing. But i cant lie i use to do the same in my house and i also had sony, pioneer, and plye. Was good for the moment until i started to learn more and found better amps.
TheGamerPalace 9 months ago
@TheGamerPalace the pound harder in my car. my main amp is 400 watts RMs. dampening of 1000 and THD of .005%
bait28 9 months ago
@bait28 What amp is that? a damping factor of a 1000 has awesome control and .005% has great sound quality. No clipping, i hope not.

@TheGamerPalace kenwood M-2 driver by a High powered inverter.

@TheGamerPalace My second amp I ever had was one of those old 1000watt Xplod amps. It made an excellent heater.
320bit 9 months ago
@320bit Lol, yea those sony amp produce more heat then watts. And they arent efficient
TheGamerPalace 9 months ago
@bait28 .3% is not great quality. And that sounds like BS, I bet the thd is closer to 1%. Even so, there are many other factors to consider in an amplifier other than power output and thd. I have an old 600wrms Precision Power amplifier that has a thd rating of .005%. Now thats sound quality. But like I said, there are other factors to consider. And frankly, neither Sony nor Pyle can deliver true power and sound quality the way dedicated brands can.
320bit 9 months ago
@320bit nope, it .3% on they Pyle amp, but the amps i use are my Kenwood M-2 with 1000 Dampening, 440 Watts RMS @ 4ohms, and .005% THD, My carver TFM-55x 750 watts RMS, and a dampening of 500 and THD <.005%. I also have a Carver TFM-15CB, TFM-6CB, Carver PM 1.5, Phillips C-577, and a alphasonik PMA-2175.
