  • nice save bill!

  • Back when Brann wasn't endorsed by Meinl and played really good cymbals (Paiste)...

  • How awesome does this sound live! Damn...

  • This is my fav off of Remmission. That catch looked fake sooo awesome!!

  • Lol, it's great that they all look younger except for BRANN.

That's because he has eternal youth though.

  • @ChaoticaMortis yep, smoking, drinking, sleep deprivation, and being stuck in a cramped bus with an alcoholic,, former alcoholic, and a giant keeps you youthfull

  • @albundie3 that sounds like the life!

  • 5:15, multitasking lol

  • Trippy song i smoked that song up

  • anyone notice at 5:15 that bill caught the mic stand?

  • @donkarankauleone he's just beast like that

  • @donkarankauleone That was seriously amazing bro I noticed it too.

  • @donkarankauleone Yea, Bill doesn't even need two hands to play guitar, he's too cool for that!

  • They look really young compared to now. One of my favorite songs to melt my brain to.

  • What's with the sound constantly cutting out it fucking hurts my ears!

  • Imagine being there...

  • at 0:39 there is a time paradox and time slows cause mastodon has such epic riffage

  • mastodon is one of the few bands where the drums act as a melody and lead instrument

  • @underscoreisnotvalid very wise comment, ure 100% dead on. the intro to hearts alive is a good example, ... along with 3:23-3:56 in the last baron. i don't know which came first, brann's drummming, or the riffs. (referring to all of their songs). they are like ying yang.

  • Lol nice catch Bill at 5:14

  • @powerage225

    MOST BADASS CATCH EVER!

  • you can buy this at best buy and its very easy to find.on the relapse website

  • 5:08 Troy dies T_T damn!! what a felling O_o they all feel the soul of the song INSANE!!

  • Dude!! Did anyone see "Ninja Bill" at 5:15 ?! Troy knocks over a mic stand and Bill grabs it with his right hand and keeps hammering chords with his left !! He's not even looking at the mic stand when he grabs it ! Haha !!

  • He doesn't even drop his pick !!!

  • why does the audience look bored at the end?

  • @onepieceofnaruto because they've been put into a trance.

  • @onepieceofnaruto well, this is pretty old and mastodon wasn't a big of a band as they are now.

  • the intro is killer

  • i love troys vocals on this!!

  • wish they would play more remission live, i like crack the skye but would really love to hear ole nessie, mother puncher, crusher destroyer and march of the fire ants live at BIGDAYOUT2010. but im guessing they gonna b playing 80% crack the skye, and theyr play time is limited and crack the skye songs r really long so ill b lucky to hear one remission song at all!

  • @Ridethelightnin69 they played mother puncher after crack the skye when i saw them in Seattle for the mastodon-dethklok tour, it was an amazing show that i still think about on a day to day basis lol

  • you might get some remission. my friend saw them when they came around here and said they played ALL of crack the skye, but like 4 song which he thought we're from remission

  • They are playing alot more remission stuff nowadays, well more than early last year, there playing Bohemoth, Fire ants and Mother Puncher alot now.

  • is this ripped from workhorse chronicles?

  • Nah, it comes from a live DVD that came with a special edition of Remission. Kind of hard to get a hold of, so I thought I'd share the wealth. :]

  • @gt3stuntman01 you're a good man indeed

  • lol at troy knocking bill's mic stand down

  • Ol'e Nessie has always been one of my faves. :D

  • i do wish that they were still like this though

  • Take a look on ebay, some vintage ones that range from $3,000-$3,600 in good condition.

  • what would i give to go back in time just to go to a show like this...

    the intimacy... the emotion...

  • i like the way mastodon have grown from the roar shouty metal to prog but man i must admit while the new sound is expressive here on this vid they have a sparkle and energy that they lack live now

  • I wonder where Bill got his les paul silverburst custom. I mean back then when they didn't have a lot of money he had a silverburst LP that's worth 3,000$ today? He has always used it. Really has become an icon.

  • Comment removed

  • @tcbshaded39 I heard his was made in 89', and back then alot of people didn't like them because after awhile the silverburst started to rust and made your guitar sound a little different.

  • @Darkcheef He has an 82' and a 79'. The 79' never comes out on the road or so he said in this interview I saw.And another that is probably his 89' that looks newer.

  • Holy shit. If only they still played shows like this.

  • i know right? their music was much more brutal. although crack the skye was an awesome different direction. i miss brents schreeching

  • What I would give to see them in their early days...

  • Really nice footage! The audio was a bit out of touch, but acceptable.

  • Oh Brent and your old goldilocks hair XD

    I love this song.

  • Ol'e Nessie rules!

  • Brann=SICK

  • I thought you said Suck and I was about to be like what the fuck man then I took another gander and yes you're right.

  • EPIC

  • 5:15 , bill there multi tasking haha

  • Brent looks a bit like Layne Staley without his beard here.

  • best band out now , hands down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • HELL YEAH! GOT THAT RIGHT!

  • MAAASTOOOODOOON!

  • pure art!

  • If I was there I would have sparked a ginormous fatty as soon I heard that first riff...

  • If this song was a girl i'd put my willy in her but then go for a test to make sure i hadn't picked up anything weird.. then after the results came back i'd text her lots and ask her to send me pics but never take it further.

I really like this song.. i love the natural reverb on the guitars on the album version.

  • i listen to this when i drive through the canyon on my way to the beach at like 1 am.

  • when they start going...

    i meant.

sorry a bit stoned like... but it's one of my fav stoner songs.

  • trippy intro

  • i love it at around 4:00 mins they are start going bat-shit mental.

  • mesmeric

  • one of their best songs, the crowd stands still like they should, the music is hard to understand when your in a pit throwing yourself around like a fool

  • you cant mosh to ol'e nessie. its an amazing groove peace

  • The whole crowd should be moving there heads along to this song, a fuckin classic. Cant wait for the new albums tour in Canada.

  • I have had the pleasure of seeing Mastodon 3 times and they never fail to inpress the crowd. T-roy, I love you!!

  • jealous

  • why the hell do they always turn the bass down all quiet? its practically inaudible!

  • One of the best

  • crowd sucks, but at least Mastodon and Ol'e Nessie kicks ass!!! Thanks for sharing dude

  • Haha, people are allways saying that the crowd in Mastodon shows sucks, but I think a big part of them is so overwelmed by the music that they just want to listen to it, I mean, it is well-structurated and mysterious music, it owns!

  • that's true. the music reaches you so much that you just stare in amazement.

  • I agree. I saw them play this the same year this was filmed. It was amazing.

  • very amazing song. i want this whole video!!

  • 100% best band Live and ever

  • Yeah. funny as hell:D

  • HAHA! @ 5:15, you see Bill casually catch the mic before It can fall over and keeps playing in the process. B-)
