There are problems not addressed here. For starters, ADHD is not just "trouble focusing." it is a neurobiological-developmental disorder that more accurately involves SELF REGULATION! Sure, attention and focus are part of this, but there are so many more ways we are affected. Secondly, we have what some call 'hyper focus' but is probably more like obsessiveness or perseveration - which is another central trait - difficulty or inability to shift attention when we need to or when we should. Actually, that cost I told you about. was five years ago. The way the ecomony is now in 2010, it is probably much more expensive. yeah the lady says SOME DAY children will ber able to use it. Meh !!
Too bad they dont make this available for all those who seek it out to have treatment without meds. I on disability, thought it would be part of the services to help me. WRONG. ITCOSTS 2,600 for the program. This is wrong and something tells me this is tainted by another source of spiritual organizations looking for alternative ways to control the world, and the people in it.
@truestyleoutlaw Thanks, but I'm disgraphic as well. The picture would be quite crazy. I'm really good in maths, but I'm permanently overwhelmed and with my procrastination it's difficult for me to hold any job. I'd hand over "the gift" to someone at once, if I could. Damn it.
I have been dealing with my Asperger syndrome without any Meds.
I did not intend on upsetting anyone, but for the Medical profession to say that ALL ADHD kids should be given drugs, without consideration for what works for the individual is stupid. Furthermore, it is very close minded to think one therapy or another is what is best..
And, No it was not difficult for me to control my kid. Did you miss that part about her being in college?
@joeotow I have been studying Adhd for several years now. I believe I have Inattentive ADD and have been diagnosed as such. But when I was researching disorders the one I came across that sounded like my own father was aspergers. It's interesting how similar aspergers and Adhd are. Something to consider, i think.
My son has been doing this training for only 1 week. I am keeping him off of his medication and so far so good. He looks forward to his training sessions, despite some earlier complications! Great!
I am Glad to hear it! You have taken a Large step in helping your son. I hope and pray that ALL his treatments help him overcome ADHD!
One added benefit, you may see. I did with my daughter. Your son may develop Photographic memory. Not a bad side effect. It helps when he needs to recall information to pass tests, ACTs SATs, and so on.
Also, the main reason Ritalin does not work is due to Teachers and School Administrators. My Daughter had to adjust her dose based on NOT what she needed but the behavior the Teacher wanted. One wanted her to be like a drugged up little soldier, the other wanted her to be more active so she would participate more in class.
Ritalin problem #1 MORONIC TEACHERS! If you fools can't handle the job go into real estate and Stop Drugging our kids with Speed (Ritalin)! Thats the Drug Class of Ritalin.
Two things happened from my experiences dealing with the Cleveland Catholic Church (schools) : 1.) I am NO LONGER Catholic 2.) I would NOT RECOMMEND any Catholic school to a dog, much less a human child!
These folks have it all wrong and care more about upsetting a teacher, then the needs of a child! SORRY, Father Hypocrite! Children should NOT be placed into drug regimes based on cookie cutter feelings of teachers. The child's best interest should always be #1!
mykidsrgrate: I am looking for a Video of My Daughters Biofeedback Session. It was Broadcast on WEWS - 5 (ABC), a Cleveland TV Station back in the 1990's. It is on VHS and I have to Digitize it and code it for the internet before I can post to YouTube Soon.
@joeotow That would be great. I would like to see it. I should maybe talk to a local tv station to get the news out there! I'll keep checking back to see if you get it on you tube.
This does work! My Daughter has ADHD and back in the early 1990's her Doctor used a more crude version in his office. She did not have a controller and used only her brain waves to move Pac-Man through his Maze.
Long ~ short She has been off of Ritalin for 16 years, has photographic memory, and attends Kent State University.
remember you have to have an open mind. I believe this will work. There is so much positive research out there that proves it, and very little to say otherwise.
Those of you who don't believe this can help probably don't have a child on meds.
I do and now he has to take other meds to counteract the side effects of the first meds. The brain is wonderful.. maybe you all should open yours to the possibility that the brain can heal it's self. If it cures my son or even cuts his problems in half it is priceless. Artificial chemicals are not the answer. They are a bandaid! Get a clue and get some real answers about the real facts about meds.
@threadysparrow yeap, so is my son. I believe that with God's help there is a way to get him better without all of the artifical chemicals. They are bad for you and there's nothing else to say. Bad!
DRUGS NEVER CLAIM TO BE A CURE! you cannot cure a brain wiring problem. god damned retards on youtube need to STFU!. drugs help to suppress symptoms for as long as they are in the bloodstream. thats it. and the thing about ineffectual makes no sense. i cant even follow her logic. medication is a great tool and unfortunately many kids who can benefit from medication are not able to take it because their dumbass parents listen to quackery instead of mental health professionals
This works. My child did this and was able to dump the crappy drugs. Learning to play an instrument is also a good way to boost this procedure; it help them lean to focus.
This same type technology is used in Jet Fighters, but in that application the position of a pilots eyes are tracked and the pilot can control everything including weapons just by moving their eyes.
In this application brain waves cause movement of a game interface like Pacman as mentioned by coastergurl7.
When your brainwaves and therefore your brain is focused, then PACMAN moves.
When your brain is unfocused, then the PACMAN stops and dies. The idea is to find a way tom refocus and make PACMAN move again. This will train your brain to overcome unfocused clutter.
shadowstar120: I take it this is an informed opinion based on years of medical and psychiatric training and experience, and not just an opinion that you pulled out of your ass?
this is a formed personal opinion based off of, personal experience and friends of mine. I'm sure there are some conditions that are plausible and correct. but i do realize my statement was ignorant.
ADHD is often diagnosed to easily and incorrectly, thus resulting in adolescents being prescribed drugs they don't need at all.
I was diagnosed with it too, and i didn't take any pills all i did was focus more and pay attention.
There's a slight problem with this: people with ADD are usually very good at things they're interested in - you can concentrate really well on things you like. Homework.. that's a different story. Kids are already interested in video games, so all it's doing is teaching ADD kids to concentrate harder on things they're already paying attention to. (I'm assuming. If this actually works, then great, and I want one. :) )
THIS IS FUCKING TRUE!!DONT LIE U STUPID FUCKS!!IM COMPLETETELY CUREED!!!I FUCKING LOVE PLAYING FIFA 2001 EVERY FUCKING DAY...BUT IM GONNA PUNCH MY MOTHERS FACE IF SHE DOESNT BUY ME A NEW ONE REAL SOON.
i have found flight simulators and war simulators actually increase my situational awareness. WHy do some people deny that this works and thing they are just toys. THey don't realize these devices actually are a form of mind control
Incorrect. They're not a form of mind control, they're more of a mutual understanding.
You have control over your body but your body also responds to its situation and currently known issue.
Playing games is a lot like managing both ends of that stick: you have a directive that you want to accomplish and to do that you have to adjust your focus, attention, and situational awareness and incorporate that with timing, judgment, tactical planning, and patience.
you gotta admit the flight simulators are pretty good. I love CBT(computer based training). YOu can desiong any program to teach you anything now be it maths , physics or what ever.
My son went to the Nadeau Educational Center in Cerritos and had bio-feedback like this. It does work. He is now reading way above his grade level, when at one time he was reading at pre-school level in second grade. He is going into 5th grade now. He is not on medication. His math has improved. He still is having problems with multiple tasks in math....but as his mom I was never good at math and don't have ADHD. I would highly recommend this to anyone....it is expensive though.
well this explains alot! my freind has adhd. he almost always got in trouble with teachers, but ever since he started playing videogames, such as "skate" on the xbox360, and actually skateboarding, hes been a whole lot calmer, but he still takes medication. sometimes he makes loud outbirsts, which is a little weird, but alteast he can control himself most of the time.
thanks... you just offended me and other ADHD people trying to compete with that image non-ADHD people has from us by making ourselves more productives.
Kicked out of pre-school. Daily trips to the principal's office. Our home a frenzy of uncontrollable tantrums.
When the diagnosis was complete (this was a VERY intensive testing routine), the description fit her COMPLETLY!
With this diagnosis, I was able to get her legal protection from the CONSTANT punitive measures at her school. We were able to form appropriate support in areas she needed.
Drum lessons. Dance. Swimning. Consistent routines. And TONS of love.
damn... I have ADhD and i went to this doctor that taught me how to control my thoughts and how to focus on one thing this guy worked miracles on my brain.. my mind is alot slower now its awesome and i no longer need my adderal
sorry had to comment again. I see people saying that ADD or ADHD doesn't exist. I agree in part with thetumblingweed55. Most kids that have add/adhd are miss diagnoses cause most children act like they are hyper active and cant pay attention anyways cause thats the way kids act anyways. but there are some out there who really do have ADD/ADHD. But it takes weeks of testing to really find out. No one visit to a doctor can tell you and parents should be able to tell.
a doctor? if only I could finally buy a house. I've just done some research on it. I've seen people with ADHD and they seem to not be able to concentrating no matter what they do. This kid I know I was talking to him. as I was talking he out of the blue ran outside picked up a stick with his teeth. Mid conversation.
Honest answer is I don't really know All I know is what i see and read that all. Theses day we are expected to multitask beyond that of out ancestors.

ADHD is simply a minimal amount of cell receptors in the front of your brain that processes Dopamine and other chemicals produced by the brain. The result is other overly active regions of the brain, such as creativity. The ADHD gene sequence "The Edison Gene" can be found in DDR2 genome and is closely linked to Autism.
ADHD is a real, and it's also a wonderful gift.
Maybe you shouldn't assume things that you don't understand.
one man's gift is another man's curse.. you shouldn't be subjected to your genes, some of these people are struggling with their 'ADHD' they are not sent to neurofeedback training against their will.. learn to control your mind , don't let it control you. this isn't any different than meditation
sad thing is a lot of parents and doctors are ignorant when it comes to kids. yes i know that sounds harsh... well listen... For instance. say Billy who is eight years old can't concentrate in class and is very hyper. Most doctors would say he had add or adhd. But the real fact is that Billy is just eight and acts according to his age also School is boring for a lot of kids which is the reason for the hyper activity and lack of concentration.
F*ck that man if this happen where ADHD kids went to video games, then we wouldnt get tha k*ck ass pills they tha pharmacy gives out, like adderall xr/ir, concerta, rittlin them anmpetamines and what not. I take my friends adderall all tha time. SO LETS HAVE THA DANGEROUS DRUGS AS YOU CALL THEM, AND THA GAMES, this combo is tha sh*t.
Being a controlled substance, most grown adults who've had their lives materially impacted by ADHD would never waste their pills on getting a friend high. A true friend wouldn't ask for them, either.
I take Concerta daily and would sooner ditch any "friend" asking for my pills than give them out.
That's like asking for a chronic pain sufferer's percoset or oxycontin; but let me guess you've got no problem with that either?
I totally agree w/u!I am a cp suff & have been hit up for my meds 5x this week alone. They know we have to get meds from 1 doc, they hit us up anyway. The old "my tooth/back hurts bs" Hope they start watching their backs. I; as well as many others I know are becoming tired of getting hit up for pills; & these people lurking around our houses steal them. We've all decided that if they continue this; they'll be in for a nice surprise when a DEA agent shows up at their house asking them 4 pills!
wow thanx for the information i've had ADHD ever since i was in first grade and i'm now in 10th and its nice to know that somebody actually cares about people like me *Tear* :)
I in no way wish to offer medical advice. I just want to say that if such things interest you, Tai Chi is a very healthy practice. It is a very powerful art even tho it looks easy, soft and slow. It is great for the body as well as your complete state of being. Of course consult a doctor before beginning any exercise program. I say this because I have studied various arts for about 22 yrs and it has had a profound affect on my life.
we are originally monkeys, to ask a child to sit still for almost the whole day is neocon brainwashing bullshit. They should be studying more physical training techniques, martial arts, move and no distress. Focus attention by action, without drugs.
Although I don't agree with your foul language, I totally agree with your point about education & its methods. As a psychotherapist and educator, and from my own personal experience.
I thank you very much. Most likely I was under heavy attack that day from some groups that troll videos and harass people. I had a few moments a couple weeks ago and was probably coming down from a moment of telling them off or putting them in their place. I am a retired soldier and take some flak from ppl mostly due to current world events, but I apologize to you.
they start on a few, "your kid has adhd, pay us for these meds, then a good racket gets going, all kinds of doctors get into it, then the public starts comparing, my kids on it, your kids on it...then awareness of scam, too late.
You can tell who needs this brain training by some of the uneducated out of control comments below...LOL Listen and learn.Oh but ya can't you have Add or ADHD.
Man, all these folks saying "ADD doesn't exist" make me wish that ignorance didn't exist . . . that way I wouldn't have to see all those stupid comments!
ADD or ADHD doesnt exist.its just a quik and easy way for parents to explain y thier kid doesnt pay attention in school.Ever think its because he would rather be outside playing or kikin ass on Xbox rather that in school? no it couldnt be that.
You're wrong. The existence of AD/HD has been proven through the use of the TOVA test on samples of the general populace, and the results distributed across a bell curve, indicating degrees of the disorder, or "reverse degrees" of the disorder, or just being somewhat normal.
Every parent with an ADD or ADHD child should consider neurofeedback treatment. As with any treatment approach, it is always good to to do your homework and research the pros and cons of each treatment approach you are considering. Visit mindfitnesscoach dot com for more information and research article links.
I wish more people would know about this wonderful treatment. I sent my son to the Nadeau Educational Center in Cerritos, CA and it really helped with his ADHD
Cool. We could use ‘Grand Theft Auto’ for Antisocial Personality Disorder? Seriously though, I’m impressed. Looks like a potential drug-free way forward for some youngsters with symptoms of ADHD.

I have ADHD ovbiosly you don't! I have a photographic memory! And I'm not on Ritalin or adderall I'm on another one it's different!
also the only reson you think people suffer from it is because it's difficult for you the parents to control kids with ADHD!
I belive ADHD isn't a disorder it's a gift! So suck it up buttercup!

Your wrong!
It is whatever works for you!
joeotow 2 years ago
@joeotow I have been studying Adhd for several years now. I believe I have Inattentive ADD and have been diagnosed as such. But when I was researching disorders the one I came across that sounded like my own father was aspergers. It's interesting how similar aspergers and Adhd are. Something to consider, i think.

My son has been doing this training for only 1 week. I am keeping him off of his medication and so far so good. He looks forward to his training sessions, despite some earlier complications! Great!
mykidsrgrate 2 years ago
I am Glad to hear it! You have taken a Large step in helping your son. I hope and pray that ALL his treatments help him overcome ADHD!
One added benefit, you may see. I did with my daughter. Your son may develop Photographic memory. Not a bad side effect. It helps when he needs to recall information to pass tests, ACTs SATs, and so on.
joeotow 2 years ago
Also, the main reason Ritalin does not work is due to Teachers and School Administrators. My Daughter had to adjust her dose based on NOT what she needed but the behavior the Teacher wanted. One wanted her to be like a drugged up little soldier, the other wanted her to be more active so she would participate more in class.
Ritalin problem #1 MORONIC TEACHERS! If you fools can't handle the job go into real estate and Stop Drugging our kids with Speed (Ritalin)! Thats the Drug Class of Ritalin.
joeotow 2 years ago
I don't agree with the fact that teachers are given so much freedom in how much someone is given in their medications.
werdlife420 2 years ago
Two things happened from my experiences dealing with the Cleveland Catholic Church (schools) : 1.) I am NO LONGER Catholic 2.) I would NOT RECOMMEND any Catholic school to a dog, much less a human child!
These folks have it all wrong and care more about upsetting a teacher, then the needs of a child! SORRY, Father Hypocrite! Children should NOT be placed into drug regimes based on cookie cutter feelings of teachers. The child's best interest should always be #1!
joeotow 2 years ago
This did Happen. It is not based on my personal opinions. It is based on facts!
Fact: 2nd grade teacher wanted ALL students to behave like tin soldiers. She told school administration, that my child needed Ritalin.
Fact: School Administration told us to either put her on Ritalin, or remove her from their school.
Fact: 3rd Grade teacher wanted students less "DRUGGED UP!" ~ We had to tell Doctor to lower Ritalin Dose.
I have the proof! And, the school wanted to talk directly w/DOC w/o parents

mykidsrgrate: I am looking for a Video of My Daughters Biofeedback Session.

@joeotow I'm so glad to hear that. I'm just waiting to get it, it's on back order. My son has it pretty bad and I can't wait!

remember you have to have an open mind. I believe this will work. There is so much positive research out there that proves it, and very little to say otherwise.
mykidsrgrate 2 years ago
Those of you who don't believe this can help probably don't have a child on meds.
I do and now he has to take other meds to counteract the side effects of the first meds. The brain is wonderful.. maybe you all should open yours to the possibility that the brain can heal it's self. If it cures my son or even cuts his problems in half it is priceless. Artificial chemicals are not the answer. They are a bandaid! Get a clue and get some real answers about the real facts about meds.

This same type technology is used in Jet Fighters, but in that application the position of a pilots eyes are tracked and the pilot can control everything including weapons just by moving their eyes.
joeotow 2 years ago 2
In this application brain waves cause movement of a game interface like Pacman as mentioned by coastergurl7.
When your brainwaves and therefore your brain is focused, then PACMAN moves.
When your brain is unfocused, then the PACMAN stops and dies. The idea is to find a way tom refocus and make PACMAN move again. This will train your brain to overcome unfocused clutter.

sri66 3 years ago
There's a slight problem with this: people with ADD are usually very good at things they're interested in - you can concentrate really well on things you like. Homework.. that's a different story. Kids are already interested in video games, so all it's doing is teaching ADD kids to concentrate harder on things they're already paying attention to. (I'm assuming. If this actually works, then great, and I want one. :) )

i have found flight simulators and war simulators actually increase my situational awareness. WHy do some people deny that this works and thing they are just toys. THey don't realize these devices actually are a form of mind control
fayik123 3 years ago
Games are a full-body-experience.
Firgof 3 years ago
you gotta admit the flight simulators are pretty good.

And TONS of love.

sorry had to comment again.

PS - This video is bullshit. BioFeedback sucks.
jhurley3 3 years ago 2
one man's gift is another man's curse.. you shouldn't be subjected to your genes, some of these people are struggling with their 'ADHD' they are not sent to neurofeedback training against their will.. learn to control your mind , don't let it control you. this isn't any different than meditation

any creative criticisms welcome.

sad thing is a lot of parents and doctors are ignorant when it comes to kids. yes i know that sounds harsh... well listen... For instance. say Billy who is eight years old can't concentrate in class and is very hyper. Most doctors would say he had add or adhd. But the real fact is that Billy is just eight and acts according to his age also School is boring for a lot of kids which is the reason for the hyper activity and lack of concentration.

BudSmoken420 4 years ago
Being a controlled substance, most grown adults who've had their lives materially impacted by ADHD would never waste their pills on getting a friend high. A true friend wouldn't ask for them, either.
I take Concerta daily and would sooner ditch any "friend" asking for my pills than give them out.
That's like asking for a chronic pain sufferer's percoset or oxycontin; but let me guess you've got no problem with that either?

I totally agree w/u!I am a cp suff & have been hit up for my meds 5x this week alone. They know we have to get meds from 1 doc, they hit us up anyway.
