  • @Dima4702 The director regrets the politics of the movie and the person who lived the story never shared the films attitude.

  • It's fantastic.

P.S.: I wonder why everyone comments in english except from the greeks.

  • Believe or not this music was used frequently in Turkish Movies without any request.

    Especially as a love theme.

  • d best song ever !!

  • @jimjones2012 Really appreciate your comment.

  • if you really want to hear the real theme, i posted it years ago...please feel free to tell me what u think...one of my favorites...execatty...is what its under...peace

  • Musica muito bonita e triste, lembro tinha 13 anos.

  • jai lu l'histoire de william hayes et sa véritable évasion est différente de la fin du film mais ya tout de mm eu bcp de difficulté

  • Yeah, good music throughout, but I really like the "chase scene" sounding music, which was brief, but I think was played when he escaped briefly, prior to his lock-up, then the guy from Smokey and Bandit caught up to him, and shoved a gun in his ear.

That scene, following the upbeat music was actually the most depressing for me.

  • Rhyme Asylum - Unreasonable feat. Diabolic

Outkast - Return of the G

  • it's the return of the gangsta

  • Le theme final n'est pas dans la BO, on va dire que ce theme s'en rapproche mais n'atteind pas l'émotion du theme du film. Voilà à koi ressemble le theme final du film c'est qu'en même différent

  • Dilla Dilla mix mix mix!

  • my friens help how get this music mp3 version ?

  • i saw this movie when i was a little kid.i think it is one of the best movies ever only the thought that it is a true storie it's a little shocking.but i'm sure that everybody who have seen this movie know this song,i don't know why but if you see the movie once you never forget the song because of that for me it is one of the best songs ever!!!!!

  • Elle fout vraiment des frissons cette BO.... elle colle vraiment à l'univers apocalyptique du film !!!

  • outkast return of the g... look it up

  • You don't know how many foreigners suffer far worse fate in the U.S. yet there's never a book or movie on their story -- gangstalking dot 20m dot com

  • I saw this movie when I was a kid and that music stay with me for ever and the first time I saw two men kissing.

  • a chill runs up my spine! i remember when i was a little kid watching this movie ,with lights off,on a sunday evening on the couch. I really get traumatized with this film , so deep film , a great tune I will never forget!

  • @TheGoaBase Η Καλύτερη Ταινία Πατριωτη όλων των εποχών (Κοινωνική)...

  • @lazerbeak2125 yep. this is the theme music.

  • musica da minha vida !!

  • Excellent music from an excellent film :)

  • glad to have this album

  • Love this theme...this movie was great. It really impressed me. One of my favorite movies!

  • outkast sampled this beat on "return of the gangsta"

  • @chunkgizzle7 mf doom samples this track too

  • this songs sounds like: Dont be a Hero of Jim Capaldi in my view whoever composed this they ripped jim capaldi`s riff

  • cette douce musique me transperce et me fait souvenir quand j suis sorti de mes 7 années de detentions.humanisez nous....

  • There's another version where some woman is singing it;can't think of her name right now.

  • super

  • This IS the Midnight Express theme song. The "soundtrack". Giorgio Moroder wrote it and let it be the soundtrack for the movie. Aswell he made all other soundtracks on the actual movie too.

    - And this song is awesome.

  • Marco una época, un tiempo, ... Excelente! Genial! Inolvidable! hasta las lagrimas!...

  • A masterpiece ***** .

  • Actually, this is the music that is played at the very end of the movie, when he finally escapes from the prison and makes it safely back to America...Its the happiest part of the movie! Great tune!

  • @boxpleatfan it's also briefly played during his capture at the start of the film.

  • @boxpleatfan its actually played throughout the movie!

  • @boxpleatfan This music is also played during the movie and at the end.

  • @boxpleatfan You are right. It isn't depressing at all. The best scene of the movie. Love this song.

  • I have this CD but I want the Turkish music from the film. The Turkish music what keeps coming on now and again in different scenes like when Jimmy is getting beat up. I just know it is going to be a long haul trying to track it down!! Anyone know what it is or what its called???

  • theme song from my life..

  • I just commented yesterday but I gotta say again that this is beautiful; the golden era of soundtracks..

  • epic synth disco melody

  • so good when the melody changes into major mode

  • Dilla, Dilla, Mix mix mix

  • @kermaleivos Doom Gazillion Ear

  • @kermaleivos fuck yes dude. made my month with that one. just watched the movie and it was wracking my brain the whole time. whats this shit titled???

  • @floogmasterflex "J. Dilla - Phantom of the synths" is the instrumental, and it's used in the second verse of Doom - Gazillion ear. Slightly faster than this version, still sounds like angel dust though.

  • @kermaleivos good look dude. thanks

  • I really felt sorry for poor Max's fate.

  • So horrible that now the U.S. is the new Turkey as far as prison treatment goes... The U.S, whom I love so much, has lost her honor. We are committing attrocities to human beings in illegal and legal prisons, and war worse than in our entire history. God help us all.

  • I wouldn't say this was that depressing. On the other hand, I wouldn't want to hear it if I'd just been diagnosed with a terminal illness - I doubt it would make me feel better

  • i love it.

  • THE FAT COP IN THE MOVIE WAS A JACK

  • One of the best movies ever produced, covered with splendid music.

  • super musique

  • Great Music******5/5******

  • GOOD but really FUCKED UP (*movie*)

I used to call anybody I knew who was stingy or hoarded thier shit (*RIFF-KEY*) lol for like 5 years after I first saw this in 94 I think for the first time even though it came out in what 1978 ?? usually it involved drugs (lol) like "quit holding out on the (*weed - painkillers - cocaine*) RIFF-KEY" (Lol) im 29 years old by the way if anybody gives a flying f u c k

  • That IS the main theme from the film, used throughout and at the finale. There's also a love theme and a chase theme. Unfotunately the actual soundtrack performance has never been released, just the remixed album.

  • @Prospro8 Actually I had the original film soundtrack on tape bought just after seeing the movie on its release. It remains one of my all time favourite music soundtracks. The Film was brilliant in a disturbing sort of way, I was emotionally drained after seeing it. RIP Brad Davies.

  • @23751 very well put. I was, too, after the movie.

  • Actually, the entire film was done in Malta. They officers speak the Maltese language and the so called Turkish jails are actually a fortress built by the Order of St.John just after the great siege of Malta in 1565.

The American in the true story denied completely the fact that the Turkish jail he was sent to was as shown in the film. In fact the actual jail was closed in 2000.

  • Of course the music is depressing in this film and it must be..because the young man want's to be free....if you are in a Turkish jail..think..you are not only having a depression...but you are going to die....

  • @beautespa what do you know about turkis jail I recommend you to listen to the interview of the writer of the book the midnight express. don't talk about someting that you don't know anything about

  • @erelf47 First I talk about the film and not about Turkey...we are talking about

the film!!! It's my opinion to say what I am thinking and I am not asking anyones

    permision?ok?

  • @erelf47 And first of all I was talking about the music! The music is sad

because you are in jail and whatever about the country..if you are in jail you

are not happy...that's sure think! And if you are having experience about jails

    you can tell us..

  • @beautespa

    4 realz

CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES by (*KOOL & THE GANG*) probably wouldnt have been the right song for this soundtrack or movie (Lmao)

  • wrong, it is (Theme from) Midnight Express...you may mix up with the upbeat one 'Chase'.

  • Magnifique !

  • Yes a great film. I particularly enjoyed this music. Perhaps 'depressing' is alittle too strong as an adjective; maybe 'haunting' is more kind.

The melody has a middle eastern flavour to it I feel fits the scene.

  • Great song, Great Movie.... this track is from the end, when he escapes, when he sees his freedom!

  • mobb deep and bounty killer used this sample from this song, great song btw

  • This has an electric drum sound what keeps comin on through out the tune. In the film it didnt have that electric drum sound!!!! Its a great tune but its not the same, that sound spoils it!!

  • I often find this music depressing, which is appropriate being that the film itself is also depressing.

  • return of the gansta oukast has the same beat

  • come and listen to my remix ...pasc1977...midnight express

  • Yes,this IS the theme.

  • Not theme. NO. THIS is the actual theme of the movie. The other song that is wrongfully held as the theme is called "Chase". I prefer this song to Chase.

  • Such a sad beat.

  • it is the theme...i've got the album and the song's name is midnight express theme dohh :)

  • Donyori doyo doyo!!

  • i really love this song ...awesome movie aswell ..part of the scene was filmed in Malta :D

  • I was looking everywhere for this tune. Thank you so much!

  • Great movie !!!

  • napalmstrikewhatever: I think Count Vlad was Romanian... but then, I may be wrong.

  • @DeltaGolf72 he WAS Romanian.

  • I wonder what kind of Synthesizer Giorgio Moroder is using when composing this song!

  • I'm sure it is a Minimoog or an Arp Odyssey.

  • ;;)

  • @SidWL

    sIktIr!

  • This movie is just plain racist

    thats is

    worst movie ever

  • i agree.the turks are the most civilised people in the world.you never impale anyone.you never hang someone from hooks.all europe got enlightenment and progress except greece, during 400 years of slavery.thank god you couldnt get in the rest of europe in that time.

  • We have learned impaling from hungarians. Have you heared about Vlad III the Impaler?(look at the wikipedia please but read the english version) he impaled Ottoman prisoners of war! By the way do you know that Greek prime minister Venizelos nominated Atatürk for the nobel peace price in 1934? And at those years Turks and Greeks were friendly again? BUT THEN ENGLISH PEOPLE DESTROYED OUR FRIENDSHIP LIKE THEY DID BEFORE! We should be friends not enemies. Our real enemy is england.

  • @SidWL fuck offfffff :o it's not rasict it's based on a true story god damn it!

  • no its not man

if you watched the interview with the lead role he bares his heart on how its an over exaggeration of the truth, but w.e believe what you want, its ur opinion.

  • @SidWL so what even if it's rascist who cares? ...i truly am rascist myself :) u can spam as much as u like i dont give a fuck

  • @naggaroth399 dude im not spamming i am simply replying to your messages just to tell you that your fucked buddy... good luck with that

  • @SidWL fucked about what? being rascist is just a choise....and the choise wont come for nothin beileve me i have my reasons to be rascist!... anyways i still don't see any rascism in this movie ....it's not done to offend anybody its based on a true story so it really did happen it's not rascist at all it would be maybe if it was inveted by some producers or whatever....now that's what u think and i beileve u re totally wrong about it

  • uhh huh.... that good ole snes music. lol

  • Excellent synth music !

  • God damn this movie and its supporters! This movie is filled with lies, whichs intension is to humiliate good Turkish people with some lies. First of all, our police force is never cruel to people like in the movie(especially to foreigners, and especially to americans). secondly there aren't any soldiers visible in our airports, there are normal police officers . seaching is done only at the boarding gates and main entrance. and torture happens in all world prisons. not only in Turkey.

  • Relax Napal it was just a movie and what a movie it was !!

  • Comment removed

  • I am not denying what you said. At that time, left(socialist) and right(nationalist/religionist) were fighting eachother. There were bloody events in universities. The government wasn't able to stop this, and they didn't ask help from the army. So the army made a coup d'état to stop this killing and started torturing and hanging all socialist people(irony)!. Many Turks believe that USA ordered this coup and tortures because a complete dog of USA(özal) became the prime minister after the coup.

  • You're right. At that time, you had a military state, that was cruel and against every free voice. Even today, the Turkish army's influence is very big in the government. The religion's influence too.

  • Disrespect of human rights, may not be the same as in '79, but it's still there. That's the reason, you're not in the E.U. yet. You need a government that's free of army and religious influences. A government only for the people. But of course, that's a little difficult with the increased power that the army has in Turkey. Let's hope, one day this will change.

  • But today the roles have been changed. Army became the good guy, state became the bad/religionist guy. The state is trying to bring scheria and is arresting people that speak against them with no reason(they call them as terrorists!) the army tries to stop this injustice. At that time the chief of the army was a religionist, today it is a socialist. Generally, the army must have power to stop governments bringing scheria. Also we don't get in EU because half of turkey will go to europe for job.

  • And Turkey has too much population, if it gets into EU and goes on growing, because of the european laws it must become the chef of EU. (the one with the biggest population becomes the chef) Also there are many jobless people in Turkey, when they get the right to freely travel in EU, they will rush to european countries for job. Also this government gets supported(money) from USA. Somehow USA wants scheria in Turkey. Probably to supress its clever people with religion and doesn't let it develop.

  • its not like we went to see the movie saying " ALL RIGHT, let's go hate some turkish people on screen and beat up some immigrants after the movie"

  • outkast used this song as sample on aquemini the song is called return of a g

  • yep, Rhyme Asylum also used it more recently for their track Unreasonable feat. Diabolic

  • What can i say Its BRILL ;)

  • Brad Davis R.I.P.

  • very nice movie epic..!!!!!!!!

  • I have this on vinyl. it's great.

  • thanks for Posting Depressing Songs , we love ti !

  • Linda música!!!!!!!

  • this aint depressing

    awesome song

  • well the movie is exaggerated for sure , but it does not change the reality which is there has been violent torture in the turkish jails and still it maintains , and the turkish jails have very strict rules , they are desingned to kill the people mentally , i have a lot kurdish friends who are asylum seekers in uk and they are still on the effects of diyarbakir jail after soldiers became power in 1980 so they say that due to violent torture many people killed and lots of them committed suicide

  • oui c koi le titre ? HELP

  • salut c'est quoi la vo de cette chanson svp ?? merci

  • What is the name of that song???

    Please!

  • This is the orignal song, not only is it played on the movie, but its also on my vinyl soundtrack.

Saying this is a simple sinthetyzer is a disgrace to Giorgio Moroder.

This is a great piece, do not knock it.

  • DO you know where i can find the original that was playing in the movie im dying to have it an ive been looking forever but all i get is this synthesizer crap :C

  • You are either having a shot at me or you really didn't watch the movie at all. 0.o

  • @Rawr1990 Giorgio moroder doesn't do "synthetizer crap" . Lady gaga does synth crap(probably virtual) . moroder does synth art

  • @bxlfr3 I'm not saying i don't like it I just prefer the more instrumental version that was in the Film It had a much deeper meaning to me at least.

  • Sorry, i guess i didn't caught the right meaning of "synthetizer crap"

  • "Rifkiiiiiiiiiiiiieeee !!!!!!!!!!"

  • About two decades ago...there was a documentary about the procedure of death sentence...

    and this theme was used..

    Creepy...

(Here in Hong Kong...Death sentence was executed by means of hanging..no one had recieved that punishement since the 1960s, and about a decade ago, Death Sentance was wiped out completely from the Law )

  • A brilliant movie, but I wouldn't want to watch it again, ever. Indeed, very depressing, and this theme song suits the movie very well. Even after 29 years, they (the movie and the music) still haunt me.

  • this film is an 18 cert so alot of you on here should not have been watching it at such young ages! i watched it when i was 18,a haunting piece of film that seems so real when you watch it,i bought the tape(cds werent invented yet!)in 1980 when i was in argentina, the film left a lasting impression and i think it actually scared me to death more than any other film before or since,i watched the film last night, still hard to watch, just pure brilliant film,RIP Brad, your finest hour,

  • Definitely the best movie I ever saw....!

  • awesome movie - music theme... loved that!@!!

  • Awesome.

  • I have this on a vinyl record.

It's awesome listening to this as the record turns in 33 rpm.
