I see you have some different lights. I have heard that blue spectrum is the best for coaxing your mycelium to fruit. Did you find them to grow any faster when you used the blue light?

i have noticed and it says so in the pf book or somewhere i read that when the spores are fresh the germination will be massive and quick,but i also noticed that old spores make the mycellium take alot longer to colonize the substrate,and just slow the whole process down ALOT,i bought my 1st syringe from the original pf that got busted and is now defunct,i been makin my own &keeping the strain going myself ever since,but the 1 they sent me was awful,hardly any spores in it,looked like clear wate

i guess maybe i will make like 10 jars or so and try the ones from 08 from spore store and some from my prints and see what happens,and ill report back=)

then we will really know the best storage method,im not really worried about not using or wasting the rest of the syringe,as i will not use them again once i have a full colonized jar,cause ill make a clone solution and inoculate the rest with that,& then make my own prints again when i get a flush,its just that old spores make slow mycelium

@crellis yea i have a beautiful 1/2 pint jar spore print,its really nice and dark purple and you can see all the gill marks and it covers the whole jar bottom, i could make ALOT of 10cc from that,but its old like 4 or 5 years old ,maybe more,but the 2 pf strain syringes i ordered from the spore store are from july 08,i thought i heard that in distilled water they last almost forever,but i forget,the other pesa and b+ must be really old,and yea i use about 1/4cc for each hole,maybe less

distilled water and then i can draw up literaly hundeds of 10cc syringes from that

i do it in a glove but a poor mans laminar flow hood could work i guess,then i squirt it in the grain to inoculate

so what is this strain related to?and i take it this strain works well with pf tek,and pins in vitro without any casing or proding?im not too familiar with different strains,i havent done it in awhile but looking to grow an wasy strain that pins invitro ,even though i will use trays,i like to start with about a dozen or 2 or 2 and 1/2 dozen pf cakes and cut 1 or 2 up to inoculate grain jars or i use a blender blade setup on a jar and just blean a colonized cake chunk in 1/3 jar of sterile

anyway i havent grown in years ,and i have a few prints i made(i always made my own1/2 pint print jars,only ever ordered 1 pf syringe,ever)so i have about 2 really nice 1/2 pint print jars that r about 5 or 6 years old and 2 pf strain syringes i ordered bout 2 or 3 years ago,do u think there still good?i never stored them that long,i also have some syringes of b+&pesa that are really old,should i bother trying any of my spores?or do you think there dead?

what do you have to lose? PF tek cakes are cheap, easy, and fun to make. Make 10 cakes, and then use one syringe completely up. Rarely have I every had luck using half a syringe, then storing it and trying to use the other half later. Best to use the entire syringe at once, but don't be tempted to use more than 1cc of inoculant per jar. Dehydrated spore prints are best for long term storage. Just rehydrate before using.

wow that cake has a ton of em on there ,what strain is it?i only ever grew pf strain,but i find that trays produce better results than pf tek,i used millet birdseed in 1qt jars & a glove box to transfer pf cake chunks to innoculate my 1qt millet birdseed jars,i pre boil and drain the millet b4 pressure sterilization,and use bout 1/4"/1/8" filter disc over a hole in the lid,but those cakes look great,although u let them go way too long,also i case with 50/50 or st8 vermeculite,i start with pf tek

that is a great flush for pf tec.. i have never seen such a flush on a "noob cake". imagine if that spore set was cased.. then you really would have had some amazing results.
