  • @lairdsipper Google agrees, although they translate "haba na haba hujaza kibaba" as "little by little fills the pint", and "haba na haba" directly to "little by little". Interestingly, from English to Swahili they translate "little by little" as "kidogo kidogo", and "kidogo kidogo" translates back to "a little bit". And "lala salama" translates to something to the effect of "sleep well", so it would appear that he took some creative license in the translation.

All of that aside: awesome song!

  • lala salama- sleep well

  • god damn this is beautiful !!!!

  • Tommy Emmanuel is an outstanding individual and musician. I have seen him live several times and he has exceeded expectations on each occasion... he truly is one of the greatest minds of our time.

  • the eurovision 2011 song of norway by stella mwangi uses the saying in a different way and incorporates the whole saying as well. I'm not saying tommy emmanuel is wrong with his interputation just giving some info about the word of lyrics :)

  • his translation is a little bit off... haba na haba is actually part of a saying which goes "haba na haba hujaza kibaba" which translates directly to "a small mesure and a small mesure usually fills a bigger mesure". and lala salama translates to "sleep well" or "good night" (lala=imperative of the verb kulala which means to sleep, salama is a loan word from arabic and means "good" or "well").

  • He is the greatest guitar player in this world! started as a young one and didn't ever stop with his god given gift, so many stop, but he never has, how lucky are we, the listners?

  • There is absolutely nothing better than seeing Tommy live. I've had the privilege of seeing him three times and I'm deeply saddened by the fact that he won't be even remotely close to the New England region this year.

  • @hendrix0is0lord they were amazing, I saw them on thursday, and blew my mind :)

  • Saw him on two days ago performing live at Burnsville MN, video can't interpret the energy that he was projecting! Simply a man living his dream!

  • I just saw him in Chicago last night and this song has been playing in my heart ever since

  • I've seen him 3 years in a row in San Francisco and ordered by tickets for next February. robby55 is right. It's not just the music, it is being in the presence of a true master at work. You can feel the emotion coming from the stage, and it being returned to Tommy for the gift that he gives. We are blessed to have him.

  • To everybody who likes this go see him live,.. this video is nothing in comparrison to a live experience. You will never forget a Tommy concert, and as soon as you leave the concert building you wanna go again ipromiss you. It's a unique experience you wont regret is i promiss.

    Cheers

  • @Analist While leaving the venue after my first show, I said to my wife, "I would've paid $500 for those tickets!"

  • @bloodydoll9 yes it would seem that you are..

  • I saw him yesterday.

I actually had tears in my eyes when he played this song.

  • What a Beautiful song, Wise words, Haba na Haba, This is how i will live my life, Little by little, Thanks Tommy.

  • It's a bit like that song 'Africa', -that song written by that guy, and is always played on the radio...lol

But gosh I love this still...its so nice...a great story behind it too.

  • Toto - Africa

  • Its awesome how the name Immanuel means 'God with us'. This is exactly what Tommy has done for me! This is also why I'm going to do what Tommy does. More people need to hear this. We all need to find our peace. I love it how he says that we should go to God because we are all weary and he will give us rest. Beautiful

  • Man i know what you mean, i went to his show and it was so spiritual,.. so much love it was powerfull.

Tommy is not only a guitar god he moves people,.. i would advise everyone to go and see his show. Its an experience you will never forget

  • This song reminds me purely about how much God really does love me and how he really does love you. So beautiful. Makes me cry.

  • wow! hes the man

hes turned me from metal to acoustic......

    amazing

  • welcome to the acoustic community!

    :)

  • the acoustic family

  • I saw him live in california for the shooting of his kvie video... it should come out in a few months. We actually sang haba na haba, la la salama. The sound of the 200 people in the show room singing all at perfect tone backed up by his guitar was one of the most amazing moments in my life. As i met him he just told me.... Keep going, your leadership is important! Keep teaching! No im not a teacher, but one day ... you never know.

  • I was also there in Amsterdam. It was the first time i ever saw him play. Wonderful, what a great experience. This song almost made me cry.

  • I was also there 18 april 2009 i took a picture with him by the exit , really a nice guy,... ( i felt much love in amsterdam)i hope he will come to holland in 2010 i will be there.

  • Guess what, I was there too and it was a great night again, was my second time and in 2010 he will come to Holland too. At least one night in Venlo;)

  • according to his touring dates he will also be in holland in 2009 a couple of times. check his site and then tours

  • i saw him yesterday in amsterdam.

    what an amazing show

my father was head of the musictechnic. there. i talked to him personally and shook his hand.

He's such a nice guy. He's an angel on the guitar. God bless Tommy!

  • I agree with robbys55.

I saw Tommy in Stockholm, Sweden 2 days ago... he's sooo good..

  • yes tommy made me train guitar

  • Everyone needs to go see him live at least once in their life. Words cannot describe what he does on stage. The sound is absolutely incredible! Most of all, his energy just beams from the moment he steps onto the stage. Steve vai once said he is the greatest guitar player in the world...not necessarily based soley on his skills, but because of the way he makes you feel. Amazing!

  • @robbys55 Couldn´t agree with you more, saw him for the first time yesterday, everyone should do it! Hes amazing!

  • @robbys55 Not only Steve Vai, also Mr. Eric Clapton said that he is number one... And he is so damn right!

  • @robbys55 Have seen him 3 times. Once from about 10 feet in a small theater just this May 2011. You are correct. It doesn't even matter if you like this kind of music you will love him. But how could you not love 2 hours of pure melody?

  • It's definitly time for another studio album from Tommy Emmanuel! Love this!! Thanks for the post.

  • One will stop to think after so many years how such beautiful melodies keep coming from this man. God Bless you Tommy, your music has forever changed my life, and may you continue. It gets easier to say everyday but this guy is the greatest guitar player the world has ever seen.
