This video is old. Maybe Blizzard changed the dynamics I am not sure. But at the end of the day this video is completly true.

As you buy the egg it is unique untill it becomes hatched. But after it becomes hatched it is not unique. You can have more than one in your bags. Just try it by yourself.

@deliprof As of Cataclysm, it's not. These were changed to a 3-day cooldown when patch 4.0.3 hit. (Thus cutting the time required almost in half.)

To get the cracked eggs you need to become revered with the oracles in Sholazar Basin and you can buy a cracked egg every 3 days now and you have a chance of getting the proto drakes..... to become revered your going to have to do daily qusts for a while.

Yes you can buy only one egg but as it gets cracked you can buy a new egg. And you can stock cracked eggs as many as you want.
