But it makes no sense for someone to call Bale shit and and an embarrassment when he brings so much intensity not just to Batman but to Bruce Wayne too. IMO, the Joker ALWAYS steals the show/overshadows Batman with most audiences. He's just that kind of larger than life character. Ledger gave an excellent performance as the Joker, but I think any actor worth their weight could have given a lesser performance and they still would have been said to "steal the show".

When I watched the movie, I recall actually being more impressed with Bale and Aaron Eckheart than Ledger, because frankly, the Joker is less of a character than

I agree with you completely. If some people think that Ledger was the best part of the movie, that's fine, but one actor can't carry a movie and have it be as praised or as awesome as TDK was. Really enjoy the dialogue between Batman and the men he apprehends at the end. You can hear some frustration in his voice when he growls "I don't need help!" Though he says Batman has no limits I think he very closely approaches them in this film.
