Marina is the anime counterpart to the female protagonist Crystal of the games and the Pokemon Special Manga. To be precisely the Pokemon Special characters are the true original in the way Satoshi Tajiri always intended. The anime characters are just shadows, because they weren´t directed by the creator himself. Would he had the take direct participation in the anime, we would have the Pokemon Special Anime.
