Mayer plays some blistering licks with both precision and grit - when Clapton tries the same he fails - and his muddy sound alone makes me want to clear my troat. The "Clapton Is God" banner should have been lowered some 30 years ago. If You look a little closer at Clapton I think You can see that insight is written all over his face. Mind You - his groundbreaking playing on the Bluesbreakers album is his best ever, so my hat off for that. But this suicide duel with Mayer is almost sad to watch.

I am talking the technical aspect of playing acoustic guitar. Look up John Mayer's song Neon. Tell me that is easier than what clapton does in acoustic. Of course clapton has more feel of the BLues but you cant deny Mayer has a GREAT feel for it.

Mayer is a pioneer in his own right for the newer generation of guitarists it's good to see a relatively new artist still keeping the tradition of good music alive. Especially in todays manufactured studio artists Mayer still has the roots of the classics and that's why him and Clapton blend together so well and that's what makes Mayer a pioneer as well as Clapton and don't get me wrong Clapton is King but Mayer is, in his own right, a BAMF.
