  • Launching at the strip and street are way different.. your probably just not used to the strip launches yet. You'll get there eventually, bogging happens to the best of us.

  • lol you missed the catching point

  • did u have traction contol off... also hold it at 3000rpms, drop the clutch, hold it at 3 till it stops spinning then mat it and shift at redline..... their is more ways to lauch our cars but thats the way i could do it and get the best time

  • Have you had any transmission problems?

  • @flattoprulez It whines, but other than that I haven't had any problems.

  • @hawkeye1893 How many miles do you have on it? And have you taken it to the dealer to get the whining taken care of? I'm wanting to get a manual GT but a lot are saying the tranny's are weak.

  • @flattoprulez I've got 12,600 miles on it now, and I haven't done anything at the dealer with it for the trans. I swapped the fluid out with MTL and that seems to have helped quite a bit. If you get a new one, Ford has done a lot with the trannies since even mine was built, and yours should be a lot better. Weakness has not been a problem with this trans.

  • Love the glass roof.

  • @Dennissays Thanks! I love it too.

  • man u need some tires that thing

  • @Chris35g You wanna buy me some? :P

  • @hawkeye1893 man i would if i had more than this lil military pay check and a project of my on. got to love that 5.0 thow

  • @Chris35g My military pay check ain't much bigger!

  • Nice choice on the glass roof! I love mine.

  • @DMC6021978 It is pretty awesome, isn't it?

  • love the second gear

  • love that glass roof!!

  • How much do you still like your car?

  • @PWRSTR0KER2008 It's still pretty awesome.

  • @hawkeye1893 Well, this would actually be my first manual tranny. So of course, I wouldn't be the smoothest shifter. I'm gonna renting a car and learning from friends how to drive it properly. But after hearing all the probs, I wouldn't know if it was me or the tranny messing up yah know? But, would you still recommend it?

  • suunrooof <3

  • something doesnt add up, why is the rear view camera still on if you're going forward?

  • @MustangTogunner Google "Sync LockPick". It lets you look at the RVC at any time, including at the drag strip.

  • sweeeeet

  • is he talking to himself?

  • @JPMRIR2 That's the announcer, coming in over the radio. MIR has its own radio frequency they broadcast on.

  • @hawkeye1893 that pretty damn cool!

  • @JPMRIR2 it makes the video so much funnier if you imagine he's talking to himself

  • My brother can't drive his brand new 2012 5.0 for shit either. Lol. He stalled 4 times when he came to show it off.

  • Powershift her till she blows!

  • @pwkid Er, that's my DD... it takes me to work and back every day lol.

  • hey.. the sunroof... can it be entirely shut with a panel or itys just some king of thin tissue that covers it???

  • @robax3r It's not a panel, but it's not exactly tissue-thin either. It blocks out 95% of the sunlight. It's a very tight synthetic mesh weave that rolls up.

  • When it wheel hops like that on the 1-2 shift, you'd better get out of it unless you want to be riding home in a tow truck. Shit man that was brutal to watch.

  • @LMBC6Brian It was pretty brutal to be part of, too. Fortunately, some J&M LCAs have solved that particular problem nicely.

  • Slip the clutch out smoothly, forget all the "drop the clutch" talk on street tires.

  • @fdjizm I have since then; went from a 13.5 to a 12.75. Didn't get that on video, though. Next time I go I'll take a video.

  • You and I both need some of the same lessons...and upper and lower control arms. :-) 0:30 wheel hop! wheel hop! wheel hop! wheel hop! wheel hop! wheel hop!

  • @Reaper87xx Yeah, this is definitely a video of how not to launch the car. I've done much better since then.

  • you need to get the RPMs up in the 3s or even 4s then you pop the clutch out and floor that bitch. thats how you do a good launch. but if you are going to be doing a lot of drag launches I recommend a stronger clutch for that kind of abuse. Although I never fucked my clutch up I have completely ripped apart my transmission from doing a hard launch 3500 dollar mistake lol

  • @zipper978 Gee, wonder why you destroyed your trans, dumping the clutch at 4000.

  • @hawkeye1893 thats not what ruined my transmission. There was a problem with it and driving it hard made it fail. they inspected the old transmission after they replaced it

  • ouch 2nd gear

  • wish i had the glass roof without the extra weight

  • @adams17561 Srsly, 28lbs is nearly unnoticeable in every situation. Unless you have SCCA, NMRA or NHRA trophies (e.g. at that skill level) I'd say it's not going to make any difference.

  • @hawkeye1893 it takes away from your Vehicle rigidness

  • Love that glass roof!! Nice interior on that Stang!!

  • how did you keep your back up camera on?

  • @vanquishman I have a Coastal Tech Sync Lockpick (google it - I don't think youtube is letting me post the link). It's really awesome, and allows you to do a lot more than look at the rear-view camera. Yeah, it's pricey, but I think it's worth it.

  • Give it time and you will

  • @Blindshot69 Funny you should say that; I took it out again and got a 12.758 @ 113.2 at the same track. Turns out the rear tires had 50psi in them during the video - no wonder I couldn't launch for shit...

  • @hawkeye1893 Hows the trans holding up? I was ready to buy a 5.0 until all of the bad reports on the MT82 transmission.

  • @Blindshot69 and the ringlands in the engine. my buddy is on his second motor, soon to go onto his third.

  • @426rwhpC5 Is it from a power adder? 2011 or 12

  • @Blindshot69 no sir. stock as a rock. only mods are some suspension components.

  • @Blindshot69 I have a 5.0 and my transmission is doing perfectly fine. 4000 miles and I've done some launches I'm not particularly happy about. No grinding, still smooth. Daily driving still feels like daily driving, can still launch the car well. Every car will have its problems. Camaros, Mustangs, F150's, Vipers, Corvettes...everyone has had a transmission blow. I know the MT82 talk has been out and about but there are also plenty of MT82's that are worked HARD and still going.

  • @Reaper87xx I'm getting close to buying one. If i could just decide on a color lol

  • @Blindshot69 Honestly, I'd do it, my friend. That's what warranties are for. And even moreso, there are problems, yes. But again, there are problems with EVERY car. And actually my transmission has gotten better as it's been broke in. SOme of that has to do with electronic adapation algorithms but it is getting better and couldn't be happier.
