  • jon brion's amazing soundtrack is what made the movie for me

  • another great cruise movie phillip semour hoffman did a great job. As well as juilianne moore.

  • another great cruist movie phillip semour hoffman did a great job. As well as juilianne moore.

  • cruise does such a great job in non good guy roles

  • best movie ever

  • Cruise blew the roof of the entire movie. No one can ever write a character more perfect for him. Bravo to PTA!

  • I think John C. Reily had a very underrated performance in this movie, maybe it is becaus im not used to seeing him in anything this serious, but he did a phenominal job. Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Tom Cruise also did amazing.

  • john c reily plays an excellent serious role in chacago, truly worth seeing!

  • A Great movie.

  • isnt this the movie where like some kid loads his dads shotgun then his dad accidentally shoots him when he jumps off the roof?

  • right, but it was his mother

  • Yes but it's just the introduction and doesn't effect the plot really...

  • It's a sin that this movie was not a hit. It is a crime this great movie was not nominated for Best Picture. It is sickening that American beauty won best picture in 99. What a joke. Great trailer, by the way.

  • Oh, come on, it's not SICKENING that American Beauty won. Even if Magnolia is a better picture, it doesn't mean American Beauty is terrible or didn't deserve honors. Studio politics come into play when it comes to the Oscars, and American Beauty isn't nearly as bad as some other undeserved winners.

  • bro, this movie is awesome.. but american beauty definitely should have won! it has so much morals and beauty behind it..do not question that

  • It does, certainly, but Magnolia is so much focused on grace and forgiveness, that for me it uptakes American Beauty.

  • This movie was good and probably should have been nominated for best picture. But a better film was made in 99 and it was American Beauty. Magnolia was a great movie, one of my favorite, but American Beauty was better.

  • Amerian Bauty was clumsy and hokey at times. It wasn't terrible, but Magnolia is a masterclass. Fuck the oscars, there a joke, a popularity contest. Basically, Kevin Spacey won best film.

  • '98 and '99 were definitely the most creative years for film... Magnolia, The Truman Show, Pleasantville, Being John Malkovich... all my favorites!

  • What's the name of the song?

  • Momentum by Aimee Mann. It's on the movie's soundtrack.

  • And this will all make sense...in the end.

    Yea right!

  • The acting in Magnolia was excellent throughout but I thought Phillip Seymour Hoffman gave the best performance.

  • Yeah. But I also thought this was one of Tom Cruises best performances ever.

Seymour Hoffman and Tom Cruise did the best job in my opinion. But of course, all actors were great, and Julianne Moore was BTW fantastic in this movie also.

  • this is actually my favourite film

  • Magnolia has such a cute tagline. 'It will all make sense in the end.' I guess that's the hope we all share, Julius.

  • but that's what makes this film so good

yeah all the stories come together forming some closure

    and yet

it dosn't make sense, its so unexpected!

    .....

    simply put, brilliant.

  • Brilliant movie! Tom Cruise&Julianne Moore - outstanding perfomance

  • this film and babel seem to connect different characters in bizarre situations

  • Just check out "Short Cuts" then.

  • I thought Magnolia was better than Short Cuts. I'll be honest. I thought Magnolia blew Short Cuts out of the water.

  • I agree. I just mentioned "Short Cuts" because of alexman's comment about Magnolia and Babel. Short Cuts is much closer to Magnolia than Babel. Just compare this earthquake / frog thing at the end.

  • i cant stop watching this trailer. its making me wanna go watch that movie again.

  • PT Anderson is the best director ever!

  • Brilliant film!

  • agreed
