I liked this movie. Even though it wasn't as good, I still enjoyed watching it from beginning to end, and what really surprised me about the story is that it was written by Joss Whedon, the creator of the Buffy series.

Didnt matter, the PREDATORs already knew this was going on. Weyland has been studying the ways of the "Predators" (Mesopotamians) who were really smart and good at warfare.
If the movie was directed the way this trailer was edited with the seriousness and suspense, the movie would have been just as good as Alien and Aliens. The directors camera motion and actors with bad dark humor dialogue made this movie a bit laughable. I wish it was more thoughtful and introspective.
The worst bits of this movie was the fact the aliens instinct is set on species survival and the fact the bloated alien/human at the end destroyed the entire concept by killing the queen?! with no queen how will the species carry on? Secondly how was it when cloning ellen she transferred characteristics FROM the alien? yes its been seen the alien get characteristics from the host but not the other way around? alien 3 drew this series to a tight close and then this film killed it all together.
No wonder why this movie was shit, it was made from the same crappy director that made 3. He can't direct films for shit!! Bring back Cameron!! 2 was the most in depth, scariest and best Alien of them all!!

@MrBassRabbit I totally agree! This film was great and so were all the previous Alien films in the series. When Ripley almost becomes part of the Alien family it added a whole new interesting dimension to the series. I love how the Aliens creep further and further to the human body in each film. Honestly people are tooo critical about this film. I FRICKIN LOVED IT!! Amazing visuals and music. I loved the melodic creepiness to it. Seriously people need to get their heads out of their butts!
But that does not matter. Suppose you weighed 70 kg and ate 5 kg of food today. That's a lot of food, but if you don't eat again until a certain point, you'll never weigh more than (70 +5 )75 kg (and that's overestimating, since I neglected the calories you used and shat out in the mean time). That's the law if conservation of mass.
So technically, the alien could grow in size by some strange mechanism in the time it didn't eat, but it could never gain weight.
This is such an awful movie. The first alien movie was suberb, and I liked the 2nd one. But the 3rd one was like, "whatever" not scary and i didn't care what happened. @Kousaburo In Alien 3, you saw in the escape pod what had crash landed a Facehuger next to Ripley's pod and right at the end of Alien 3, you saw (in a alternative scene I think) what appears to be an Alien Queen bursting out of her chest, and Ripley died (obviously) and in Alien Resurrection, when the cloned Ripley, they also cloned the Alien Queen. It's complicated lol! :)

The queen rippedd off her egg sack trying to get out of the burning nest. Both Ripley and the queen that burst outta her are incinerated. WTF!?

You simply can't gain what you don't eat. If the alien that just bursted out of a chest weighs 1 kg, the adult alien must also weigh maximum 1 kg, if it didn't eat. So that makes no sense, regardless of it's metabolism.
I don't like the ridges, but the Queen is cool, I think. I heard the story that the aliens with ridges are older than those without the ridges.

i liked the other alien movies better than this one, but it had some great scenes in it, i really liked the underwater scene and the basketball scene (in wich no special effects were used)
A sequel to Resurrection would be amazing. Since Sigourney and the rest of the cast is older you could set the time line 20 years in the future. The military could find them on Earth where they've hidden for years. Show Ripley 8's more humanistic side. Include more queen aliens on a planet run by the military. Have a larger and extremely dark alien hybrid. Find out more about the Weyland-Yutani coverup and last but not least have Ripley destroy the Aliens from their origin and conclude it.
This was the first alien movie i saw as a kid and it blew my mind. Sure it scared the living shit out of me in the ending, but i still like it and have nightmares about them. That wat horror movie are good at

i think alien resurrection is a combination of the first two films. i mean think about it, there is a hive of the alien creatures aboard a giant spaceship.
We don't hate this film, the acting is just sub-par, there's no character attachment.
The dialog detaches you from the surrealism of cinema - it's a hard target that fails to hit bulls-eye in a world of commercial Hollywood vs telling a terrifyingly haunting sci-fi story.
It fails to haunt after watching.
Whedon's writing was never scary or significant to begin with, and Jean-Pierre may be great at quirky films, but leave the sci-fi to the masters, ie Ridley Scott.

I enjoy this movie the same way as I enjoy Roland Emerich's Hollywood version Godzilla - just don't think it's a part of the series, and just see it as an independent film.

I must of been living a sheltered life because I NEVER knew there was an Alien 4 let alone the new Alien 5.To my knowledge,4 is not for sale yet at Best Buy,or Wal-mart.I just bought Skyline yesterday.Terminator 5 is also coming out.I still think the best Alien type movie was the original "War of the Worlds".Yes you could see the wires suspending the spaceship but it was good.No profanity,no sexual content.I'm not against it,but it's not a necessity for every single movie.
Great trailer although very staged with lots of sound effects. There was no way this movie could have gone wrong. Ron Pearlman in the same movie as Michael Wincott, the two best voices among actors, and Sigourney Weaver as the alien :) Self-taught director Jean-Pierre Jeunet makes film because he loves film :) Design work is only surpassed by his own La cité des enfants perdus. Btw, why does both these majestic retro-futuristic masterpieces include a fly..?

i saw this movie when i was i think 8 years old..ironically i didn't saw it at night :)...but this movie gave me some baaad nightmares.i slept always with my teddy bear :)) anyway yes the idea for it is a kinda stupid...BUT the movie in general i think it was pretty good,one of my fav movies actually...and Jean Pierre Jeunet did a great job at the filming and colours. Imagine if it was only this movie and not the other 3.
Sorry for breaking it up to you but the prequel was officially cancelled in mid-January by Ridley Scott himself who turned the script into something else, not Alien related... :-/
the reason why i appreciated Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection a little more than Alien and Aliens was for the fact that they were different in the own way for artistic and visual reasons including their directors who did the best they could to establish their own interpretations on the franchise

@Kousaburo That's what that room stacked full of discarded Ripley and Xenomorph clones were; failed attempts at bringing her back in the impregnated state she was in at the end of Alien 3. They kept doing it until they got her back at her state where the Alien could be harvested out of her; of course, some strands of it's DNA still stuck in her...

A sequel to Resurrection would be amazing. Since Sigourney and the rest of the cast is older you could set the time line 20 years in the future. The military could find them on Earth where they've hidden for years. Show Ripley 8's more humanistic side. Include more queen aliens on a planet run by the military. Have a larger and extremely dark alien hybrid. Find out more about the Weyland-Yutani coverup and last but not least have Ripley destroy the Aliens from their origin and conclude it.

We don't hate this film, the acting is just sub-par, there's no character attachment.
The dialog detaches you from the surrealism of cinema - it's a hard target that fails to hit bulls-eye in a world of commercial Hollywood vs telling a terrifyingly haunting sci-fi story.
It fails to haunt after watching.
Whedon's writing was never scary or significant to begin with, and Jean-Pierre may be great at quirky films, but leave the sci-fi to the masters, ie Ridley Scott.

I enjoy this movie the same way as I enjoy Roland Emerich's Hollywood version Godzilla - just don't think it's a part of the series, and just see it as an independent film.

I've watched this movie just 2 years ago. Never bothered watching it because of how everyone talked how shitty it was. It was on TV and i was like whatever i'll watch it. I had the lowest possible expectations as i knew it will be pretty bad and it still was worse then expected. This movie is beyond bad. It's a joke and an insult to anyone watching it.

I must of been living a sheltered life because I NEVER knew there was an Alien 4 let alone the new Alien 5.To my knowledge,4 is not for sale yet at Best Buy,or Wal-mart.I just bought Skyline yesterday.Terminator 5 is also coming out.I still think the best Alien type movie was the original "War of the Worlds".Yes you could see the wires suspending the spaceship but it was good.No profanity,no sexual content.I'm not against it,but it's not a necessity for every single movie.

Great trailer although very staged with lots of sound effects. There was no way this movie could have gone wrong. Ron Pearlman in the same movie as Michael Wincott, the two best voices among actors, and Sigourney Weaver as the alien :) Self-taught director Jean-Pierre Jeunet makes film because he loves film :) Design work is only surpassed by his own La cité des enfants perdus. Btw, why does both these majestic retro-futuristic masterpieces include a fly..?

i saw this movie when i was i think 8 years old..ironically i didn't saw it at night :)...but this movie gave me some baaad nightmares.i slept always with my teddy bear :)) anyway yes the idea for it is a kinda stupid...BUT the movie in general i think it was pretty good,one of my fav movies actually...and Jean Pierre Jeunet did a great job at the filming and colours. Imagine if it was only this movie and not the other 3.
