  • Cómo me hubiera gustado tocar en una banda como esta, exáctamente como esta!

  • finding and awesome girl sure can get you off the drugs... unless shes into this song and drugs too

  • I like it. It's like a rock version of the GhostBusters!

  • This shit really does sound like the ghostbusters theme.

  • Wow this and the Ghostbusters theme sound nearly alike lol, Ray Parker Jr is a douchebag.

  • I want a new Ghostbusters! Seriously.

  • Anybody catch the Purple Haze riff? I watched them live in Manchester, England and this song lasted about 20 minutes. Each player, including Tower of Power did a solo. It was so outrageously good. And some drunk Mancunian kept yelling out 'Play Ghostbusters!' He tried to get on stage and the security dude threw his ass out. What a night...

  • Pretty simple R&R tune, Brought to a whole new level with the TOP horns. Love Doc!! Thanks to Huey for pushing for Tower.

  • This music was used in a Simpsons episode as well.

  • i love this song we do it in pepband along with many other of huey lewis' songs

  • Das ist wenigstens noch richtige Musik und nicht so ein Casting-Müll

  • I'm a bit more impressed by the Tower of Power than Huey this second. They are bringing the power to this song.

  • @Montesama314 Yeah, Huey even goes up and plays his harp next to Greg Adams.

TOP is best horn section ever.

  • Nice.

    Thumbs Up. Favorited.

  • Huey and his band rocked back then and still do.

  • My friends didn't believe me when I said that Ghostbusters was a rip off of this. I laughed at all of them when Ray Parker, Jr. settled out of court!

  • @querschnitt LOL I'm totally here cuz of the ghostbusters law suit, this music kinda sux tho, it was kinda cool in the beginning how those saxophone guys were really into the opening LMFAO

  • what a load of shit why da fuck did my friend send me this link!?

  • @TheTetra11 LOL

  • This is a song for all ages. No one cares about anything but themselves. We all just want to feel good, no matter what. The truth hurts but you can't deny it.

  • If you haven't seen them and 38.special live you missed it .

  • Ghostbusters !!! i see a pale white person

  • Funny thing is, the ghostbusters song was actually written before this one, and it hit the charts earlier, too. I love both, so I dont care what really happened. It's still so catchy!

  • When the similarities between this song and the theme song of the 1984 film Ghostbusters were heard, Huey Lewis sued Ray Parker Jr. for plagiarism, claiming that Parker had stolen the melody

  • @jaimel180 The story I heard was that the producers of Ghostbusters wanted Huey Lewis to write the music for the film but they were doing the music for Back to the Future at the time. They then heard this and asked Ray Parker Jr to write something like it.

  • @BreTHEMighty I don't think so buddy, I clearly remember that long before the ghostbusters movie came, this song and a few others were already a hit

  • @rfd73 This was #6 in the Billboard Hot 100 6 months before the Ghostbusters theme was #1.

  • Pop up video was right.. It does sound a lot like ghost busters

  • Maybe ghostbusters ripped this off but fact is this song sucks ghostbusters is a kickass song

  • GHOSTBUSTERS !!!!!

  • After the first few seconds ray Parker just jumps into my head and replaces all the music from then on

  • I always thought that the bass player from The News was the coolest bassist ever.

  • @brothertee1017 me too!

  • The 1980s was a great decade for music. This song was great.

  • thumbs up if you got here because of the ghostbusters lawsuit :)

  • The 80s were the best!

  • 3:18 I love when the bass starts

  • xD, just came back after some months seeing my old comment has 70+ thumbs :D

Thank, hehe. ( if you're curius my old comment was just me being mad about people thinking that this is a copy of ghostbusters when it was the other way around )

  • It's funny all these Ghostbusters comments... Ghostbusters ripped off THIS song, not the other way around.

  • Huey Lewis ain't 'fraid of no ghost.

  • The funnest video I've ever seen!

  • i love this, the jimi lick thrown in is great!

  • no talent now its all bs rappin

  • surprised more people haven't commented on how UNBELIEVABLY PERFECT everything about the live production in this is, not to mention the amazing musicianship. It sounds as though this is a studio recording, right down to the perfect snare drum sound...yet it's all live. These guys were gods.

  • @hermitnerd Well said !!!!!

  • It's want a new truck

  • One of the coolest songs ever!

  • Purple Haze in the solo?? 3:10 They ripped off Jimi, but don't do it to them.

  • @erancambridge More like a tribute from one great to another? That's what I hear :)

  • There is no music like this today..All junk and trash. Huey Lewis defined what cool was back then. He truly said it in his song "Hip to be Square" He didn't need any electronic enhanced voice stuff, this was all him. Loved him then and still do.

  • Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

TRY GETTING A RESERVATION AT DORSIA NOW YOU FUCKING STUPID BASTARD! YOU, FUCKING BASTARD!

  • @RDBeatnik omg what was the break down at the end all bout? lol

  • @KidMoneyFresh420 The whole comment is from the movie American Psycho. The book and movie are both excellent. I wouldn't read it or watch it if you're uncomfortable with grisly murders, torture, mutilation, graphic sex, etc.

  • In a way having Parker "copy" Lewis' song in away makes people listen to the songs, buy the CDs, ect. It's a win win for both sides.

  • love love love those Tower of Power horns too!

  • love love those Tower of Power horns too!

  • Huey Lewis & the News - Sports (Released 1983)

    Ghostbusters (Released 1984)

    Now, who copied whom?

Don't worry Huey, I got your back.

  • The 80s are in a class all to themselves. Happy, happy good times. The best ever!

  • Umphree's Magee backed up Huey @ Summer Camp 2011 Cillicothee,IL. the we watched moe.

  • Who you gonna call? MY-LAWYER!

  • My father figure! Huey rules! The first concert I went to when I was 18 was---Huey Lewis! :)

  • Kind of a big 'coincedence' that the song they used sounds just like the most current hit from the guy they wanted to hire in the first place.

  • It's not so much that he got ripped-off, it's that Lewis had turned down the offer to write the theme song for Ghostbusters; then they steal this tune and write it theirselves. It's more the fact that basaically made money off him whether he liked it or not. I would be pissed too.

  • totally different barely if at all the same. shit for the man to sue another guy over a song that is diffrent is stupid.

  • @mjjcng8958 are you retarded? Its almost exactly the same riff.

  • @sixofour23 are you retarded almost exactly is not the same as it being the same. but i get your point

  • You guys should listen to the Glen Phillips cover of this song. Its crazy how much he changed it.

  • Huey Lewis sure did give a lot of horn players GIGS in the 80s ::-)

  • Funky Doctor rules!

  • Great Song

  • Lewis sued Parker because it was too similar to Ghostbusters? It's almost completely different... Ghostbusters was catchier, too.

  • Chris White plays a mean sax too... at least he did with Dire Straits.

  • So sad there isn't good music like this today. Huey Lewis and The News were one of the best and still are. Great music.

  • Sigh, it's truly sad music like this doesn't exist anymore.

  • @thatXxFRESHxXguy it could tho thats whats truly sad

  • Comment removed

  • @thatXxFRESHxXguy Why do you think that is? That music isnt like this anymore? Do you think people would still go to concerts like this? I do!!

  • @thatXxFRESHxXguy I think we will always say things like this about the great music of each era and genre. But I am glad that today's artists are looking forward, evolving, and inventing, So that in 20 years, I can look back to today's music and remember it fondly, just as we look back to music like this video and get nostalgic. So, yea, you are right, but its not a sad thing.

  • @thatXxFRESHxXguy yeah it does. You just listened to it.

  • Sax is the best of all time,The Funky Doctor.

  • @oakland420420 It's sad that most people don't even know who the TOP is. Great song.

  • @dharmaseed I think other Sax player is Richard Elliot who I think was kind of in TOP at the time...

  • Such an awesome combination of Huey Lewis and Tower of Power. Cant really get much better than that.

  • thats was musik in the golden 80`s

  • This performance may very well represent the pinnacle of Western civilization.

  • ghostbuster!

  • I actually got here from Simpsons lol

  • Its what was once known as a Fan fuckin tastic band with TOP back up. Huey Lewis AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! And the crowd goes WILD!

  • Marijuana.

  • Who's in TOP here? I recognize Doc, Emilio and Greg Adams, but who are the rest of them?

  • @dharmaseed I think other Sax player is Richard Elliot who I think was kind of in TOP at the time...

  • HELL YEAH!!!!

  • What soul-less 5 people didn't like this?

  • @cashdollar more like ear-less.

  • I,ve been listening to Heuy Lewis and the News for years and have

seen them in concert a few times and they still got it. Great song and

    Group. Keep it rock'n!

  • Great Song

  • green aint enough?

  • But damn he has some big ass eye brows

  • Huey Lewis is the BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • HUEY LEWIS IS THE BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5 people are on drugs.

  • If you can't tap your foot to this ....sorry you're without a pulse

  • That part around 4:00 is just wacky! haha

  • Nice! Wow, you look like your dad, Johnny!! :)

  • Man this song takes me back!!! Gotta love the News

  • Who made Who

Let´s give some space each other

  • oh man....art at its finest...

  • Very talented guys live! Amazing stuff.

  • To grab this mp3 just go to easymp3grab doht cohm.

  • GHOSTBU- oh

  • Uhhhh... so Huey Lewis gets Royalties from Ray Parker, right?

  • This video is from one of the "Bridge" concerts, Neil Young's bridge concerts.

  • All you have to do is listen to the song and know where Ray Parker got the music. Huey Lewis because of previous engagements couldn't do Ghost Busters. Yes he did win the law suit and rightfully so. Huey Lewis is a class act and I have always loved his music.

  • plagerism huey lewis won severall million quid from ray parker junior for the jacking of the song

  • this doesnt sound liek ghostbusters.. well a little, but not enoguh to go in court like parker and lewis did.

  • I always thought Ghostbusters sounded vaguely like Huey Lewis and the News.

  • druggin' makes me feel good!

  • The songs are at least in different keys. This one's in A minor and Ghostbusters is in B minor.

  • New York

    London

    Paris

    Munich

    Everybody's talkin' 'bout...

  • Wow, he wrote the music to Back to the Future AND Ghostbusters! lol

  • @donuthead551 lol technically :P he wrote this song, and when Ray Parker Jr. did the Ghostbusters theme (becasue Huey Lewis was too busy working on Back to the Future), he ripped off this song. HLN sued, and won :) but they couldn't change it because it was already such a hit.

  • @Grannyslittlegirl yeah i know, that was just a joke about how rpj stole this lol

  • @donuthead551 *blush* oops. Sorry, I'm known for not following jokes and sarcasm.

  • @Grannyslittlegirl lol it was a bad joke anyways

  • @donuthead551 dude this was like ten years before those movies there is a giant lawsuit on how the gohstbusters stole this

  • when I was 14 or 15 I wore a Huey Lewis and the News "I want a new drug" concert shirt to middle school and my math teacher took me into the hall, to try to talk to me about drugs! I said, "It's not about actually drugs, it's about love" OMG! memories!

  • The guy playing the trumpet next to Huey looks like Richard Dreyfuss

  • yup, ghostbusters was a rip off on purpose. the producers asked ray parker to make a song like this and were stupid enough to write it down.

  • Must be somethin about being an 80's baby that you gotta feel that beat, addictive

  • i saw these guys live in 10 th grade in '85 - they were sound wise - great - it was one of my early concerts and they sounded awesome...

  • Love you Huey & the News! such good times...

  • Sounds better than studio record ;).

  • When a band sounds just like they do on their albums plus the crowd, you know they're good

  • @AllHailZeppelin its not all live

  • They both lifted it from M - Pop Musik, so whatever.

  • jeah donk u think huey steels from ghostbusters LMAO

    I WANT A NEW DRUG

"one lets me feel to happy...."

    INSANE

  • you can really hear the bass line from this to ghostbuesters at about 3:20

  • awesome just got into these guys now... absolutely epic

  • Clean cut guys playin ROCKNROLL ---Turn me ON!

  • Ray Parker Jr. lost the first (initial lawsuit) and then filed another lawsuit against Lewis after comments made during a recent interview... both settled accordingly!

  • Does anyone know where this is available to buy? this version was a b-side to Power of Love 12" way back. Didn't realize there was a video recording of it. Any helpers?

  • This is the version I've been looking for.

  • Got my vote...but then they always had it! LOL

  • nhjhhhh

  • nhjhhhh

  • I heard this live version with this bass solo the last time when I was 16 years old - 21 years ago! And I still remember it.

I can't tell you how I just felt after hearing this one again. So f*cking great!

  • Wow! Fantastic!!

    This stuff just doesn't age!

I was listening to this the first time around, and it STILL sounds fantastic today!

  • Yes hunkieboy10 Huey Lewis & the News

& Tower Of Power the best bands ever

  • you want the best you got the best that is Huey Lewis & The News . Love there music & Tower Of Power.

  • Guy knows his drugs. And I feel his suffering.

  • I'm a death metal drummer, but i have to say that this is one of the best songs ever!!!

  • classic of the 80´s. it´s good and i like it.

  • Huey are THE best star ever

  • siisti basisti äijä :)

  • OMFG -.- These aint from GhostBusters

    Ghostbuster is from this

  • @TheCROSSFIRE09 I know, as soon as I heard the intro I was thinking 'Ghostbusters'! As far as I know I'd never heard any music by Huey Lewis & the News, they sound like a great band & look like they were a lot of fun to see live.

  • Such a classic i love Huey!

  • Mario Cippolina.

    Coolest. Bassist. EVER.

    'Nuff said.

  • Gostbusters

  • Huey is hot.

  • WHO YA GONNA CALL!!!

  • yes ray parker jr. did a great cover of this song.

  • Great Concert! Great Time! Great Song!

  • The worlds coolest bassist . .

  • Great band. Great song.

  • I can see why there was a suit involved with the music for both I Want a New Drug, and Ghostbusters theme by Ray Parker Jr. However the context of the songs were different where Huey Lewis' target demographic was for an older audiance and Ray Parker's was designed for everyone. They're both damn good songs and they both deserve praise. 5 stars for both of them but i can now see why Huey Lewis sued for the music used in the Ghostbusters song....

  • I love this song!

  • This is the original riff, Ray Parker Jnr lost all the money he made off Ghostbusters coz he stole this tune!

  • Harsh but true.

  • and made it better :P

  • he was instructed by the movie studios to do so, because huey was hired first, and turned it down later for the back to the future movie :)
