I honestly think that Charlie did a great job in here :) The songs, though not those standard types that he used to do, still fits him very well. He absolutely sang it awesomely in my opinion. Well, I'm not the judge & they're the experts lol. But i think Charlie shouldn't be eliminated in this round & must have gone in the finals.

Singing this kind of song proves that he's a versatile singer. Thumbs up to Charlie! :D

The problem the judges had with this song is that it is an unpublished song...meaning that the song was never judged to be a Top 100 or Top 40 hit or any hit at all. The requirement that singers have is to sing a known song and not an unknown song. If Charlie's song had been published a few years earlier and it became a known song, then yes, the judges would have like his song.
