O dear. Look what I found. Research into the Pastor Jerry issue has led to your channel. And here I'm treated to your contradicting Christ's dictum not to hide our Light under a bushel. But what else should I expect? My God, you're seeking to make this religion even duller than it already is, and that's why you hate it in the first place! I'd do cartwheels through that cancer ward. And for that brief moment, you'd be getting a kick out of life. You might even catch the Spirit and praise God.
This debate was really good, and I commend you. however, (and I hope you get this point) complaining that Jerry's happy about not going to hell, when you have the same choice available to you, is, how you say, "bonkum". And that was a bad analogy, because unlike the freedom / choice you have to go to heaven or hell, the cancer patients didn't exactly choose to have cancer.
If you are talking about 'freedom to go to heaven or hell' you are clearly not a calvanist like Pastor jerry. the Pastor believes that we are predestined from before our births (in fact from the beginning of time) to either be saved of condemned to hell for our sinful nature.
Plum! How can he be compassionate if he worships a God who, according to him, is going to torture you? How can you say you can get along with him? Ok I understand, a cup of tea, whatever, I can see that, BUTHE IS NOT COMPASSIONATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like I say, he is compassionate on a day to day basis but I'm not sure, like a lot of folk, he really grasps the notion of the suffering the object of his worshipping is going to subject us to.
It's like the gas chambers or killing fields, the numbers make things a little impersonal. Sometimes I think people who would wince at someone who twisted their little finger back cannot comprehend the thought of billions suffering for an infinite period.
What i would say is that Jerry, in my view, takes no joy in people going to hell, unlike some christians and muslims, who happily savour the prospect.
That's a really good point. Thanks for responding-- this kind of thing really bothers me. In fact, I just made a silly rant about it (like just now) and was thinking of posting it. I did it because I wanted to express my point of view without necessarily getting into a long discussion. I will post it as a video response. PS: I just adore your videos-- keep up the good work! :)
didn't want to keep you in suspense-- I hesitate to finish and post the video I started because I really don't have the time to do it justice. I've saved what I have and perhaps I will post it in the future. :)
I made two videos the other day, all ready for posting and have deleted them for the same reason, I jjust wasn't happy that they were good enough (I'm going to redo them though, no question).
I know the feeling. My other concern is that I have so much on my plate with my "real" work, that I'm afraid to engage in discussions on You Tube-- I really don't have enough time.
its not about winning or losing its about where can i get that shirt! and no not the actually one your wearing that would just be wierd. time for the gun show.
Thank you Noel & pastor Jerry for an interesting exchange, I don't think that anyone "won", I think you both brought forth a bit of enlightenment in who you are for all us Youtubers to see.
A very good conclusion, this should serve as an example to us all... Very thoughtful, honest and respectful...
I guess, "mission accomplished"? What did you personally gain from this discussion experience? How did it help, to make you a more understanding, perhaps a better person? Is the result, what you had expected or were there many noticable surprises?
I was surprised pastor jerry engaged with me for one thing. he actually did what he is supposed to do (as a minister), and what a lot of people don't, which is to stick up for that which they profess even when challenged.
Did his arguements and answers brought anything with them, which you would consider new insights or a better understanding?
Does the outcome of this discussion affect eventual future engagements with people holding the same or at least kind of the same positions? If it does, how so?
It didn't bring a new understanding inasmuch as there was nothing I hadn't heard before as far as i recall.
Does it affect future engagements? probably, though I couldn't tell you how. As it goes i get surprisingly few theists who engage with me in this kind of a way (i get quite a number of pm's about different matters)
Having watched both vids i'd like to say your points were stronger and better but this isnt abiut victory it's just about a wonderful debate amongst adults. Something very rare on YT
I'd like to thank you and PJ for these great vids Noelplum
Nicely stated. I'm not sure exactly how nice PastorJer is though. I think he toned down his style for a few videos due to what you said, but he's already back to his old self again. Neither Jer or Jordan seem to have much empathy for anyone else but themselves. Just my opinion though.

Because God marked him for killing his brother.
Either that or his missus can't get enough of the aforementioned 'gun show'!
