I remember that in the first episodes of Friends they had a different theme song and different starting credits from the ones that were used for the remainder of the season. I still remember when I saw the new credits (with the music by the Rembrandts, and the umbrellas and all) and noticing that they had changed the starting credits after very few episodes. I can't remember if this one was the initial one, but at first it was a different one from the one we all know.

The pilot was aired with the current theme song! And since a pilot is used as a poll to investigate interest, no additional episode had been made! In this theme song/opening- credits though, they use scenes from future episode, which hadn't been made! How could you not realise that!?......

The name may have been the original,but the video is NOT....i PROMISE you that, theoriginal video had them inthe fountain the ENTIRE time...as it was producers, didnt like that and so only the first episode had them at the water ffountain for the entire clip, as for every other episode since.. the montages have changed as the seasons and characters do.....

I don't mind this version of the credits. However, the show started in the '90s and ended in 2004. It had to transition, which I don't think these credits would have done as well as "I'll be there for you."

So from my knowledge and not being an extremely advid Friends fan, this is incredibly legit. Friends Like Us was infact the original title for the show. REM appears on the Friends Soundtrack and the song playing "Shiny Happy People" is played in an episode. I'm guessing they had this made before the title change but it's legit. Also to mention the shots of New York, same camera work and the shots of the show. So I say it's legit, you might want to add these details to the description.

Friends as a show was ahead of it's time. just like seinfeld, it moved from huge suburban families in huge suburban houses to singles in tiny NY appartments. with that came the completely different type of humour, which you could almost say these two shows invented. even today, not many sitcoms can come close to these two.
