I should be responsible? I came from an abusive alcoholic family. I started my business 35 years ago from the back of a used pickup truck. Now I employ 23 people. I sent 3 children to college as well as my wife and myself. I built and paid for my own home and a vacation home. I pay out of my pocket for any of my employees who have a child, plus, I give $1000 toward that child's education. I also donate over $4,000 a year to a no kill animal shelter and $5000 to a homeless shelter.

The only acceptable health care reform is totally private health care. Abolish mediscare. Abolish federal subsidies for schip and medicaid. The plan clearly reads, "in terms of senior health care, we plan to offer therapy counseling". Counseling? Like what, options for death? Why does the plan clearly define the plan coverage for non-seniors but when it comes to seniors, it simply states, "therapy in the form of counseling," for seniors. It's like they are setting it up to say, 'you've lived long enough, you should be grateful for the time you've had here". Are you willing to chance it with your grandparents or parents? I'm not!

I should be responsible? I came from an abusive alcoholic family. I started my business 35 years ago from the back of a used pickup truck. Now I employ 23 people. I sent 3 children to college as well as my wife and myself. I built and paid for my own home and a vacation home. I pay out of my pocket for any of my employees who have a child, plus, I give $1000 toward that child's education. I also donate over $4,000 a year to a no kill animal shelter and $5000 to a homeless shelter.

The only acceptable health care reform is totally private health care. Abolish mediscare. Abolish federal subsidies for schip and medicaid. Let everyone pay for their own health care and know how much it costs. The biggest problems with our current system is that government subsidies erode any possibility of cost control. No one compares costs when they don't pay what it really costs. 100% private insurance is the only moral choice. Any involvement of the govt in health care is unacceptable.

I don't like Steele or his policy stand. I do however agree that "lazy bitches" don't deserve government handout and unfortunately, Obama's plan will include such social parasites. Obama is going to throw our nation further into debt because 15% of the american population is not covered by healthcare. About 2/3 of those 15% dont have it cuz they don't get it on their own and dont do something about it. You wanna know why healthcare is so high? Cuz of obesity and smoking. If the government is in the same business (health care) wouldn't it want to do the best it could with an insentive to it's managers (promotion or pay raise).
Well, if a company had total control over its competitors, wouldn't it want to (eventually) force its competitors to be worse (be more expensive or lower)

If it's not the government then it's the same people that have been raping the small guy since health insurance became a business and not a right. Thank you kindly but I'll have the government. I'm in Human Resources and I love my private insurance but the fact of the matter is it's costing the company an avg. of 16k per employee per year. That number would be greatly reduced under a government sponsored plan or due to competition from the government.

From where I sit, all I can see that Obama has succeeded at is weakening America. He has weakened our economy by adding an enormous debt to the already large debt that was already in place and hasn't, as stated, created any new jobs. Unemployment is up greatly since the bail out. He has cut our homeland defense budget by 1/3 in a time when we need it the most. If he would have brought our soldiers home as promised he wouldn't have needed to cut our defense.

The plan clearly reads, "in terms of senior health care, we plan to offer therapy counseling". Counseling? Like what, options for death? Why does the plan clearly define the plan coverage for non-seniors but when it comes to seniors, it simply states, "therapy in the form of counseling," for seniors. It's like they are setting it up to say, 'you've lived long enough, you should be grateful for the time you've had here". Are you willing to chance it with your grandparents or parents? I'm not!

I got so tired of Blue Cross telling my doctor what procedures & tests he could give me -- the final blow came when I heard my doctor arguing for an hour with someone 1,000 miles away who'd never even seen me.
So as a veteran I decided to go to VA & now when my doctor wants a test done he orders it & doesn't have to argue with some jerk miles away.
We're not going to solve this problem until we get the FOR-PROFIT INSURANCE COMPANIES OUT OF THE PICTURE!

Obama said back in 2003 he want single payer Gov. healthcare. That is where this bill will lead us. I don't think Americans will be happy with even higher cost and less quality. Countries with these system pay 40% to 62% on middles incomes. Plus they wait for services. 25 weeks for heart surgery, up to a year for knee surgery. No one has ever said that a goal of this bill is to have the government "take over" anything related to health care. The Feds already run one of the most efficient health care systems in the world, the V.A. hospital network, of which I'm a satisfied and proud customer. If I had a nickel for each time the President has stated that he DOES NOT WANT the government to run all health care, I'd already be rich!

No. I want it to be run by doctors and nurses that know what they're doing, and that hopefully will act in the best interests of their patients. I certainly do not want it to be run by insurance companies that only look at their bottom line and how to improve it, and that's what's happening now. A public option would go a long way to leveling the playing field, fostering competence, improving quality, and reducing costs. This is about reigning in greed and corruption in private health care.
