It wasn't speed, it was entry angle. If you notice, your ball deflected to the right which usually indicates either low speed or low degree of entry into the pocket. Your ball simply didn't have enough bite to plow through the pocket. Perhaps you should toy around with putting more "hand" on your ball or finding better angles of attack. I would also suggest moving back a bit and speeding up your swing.
I have a tendency sometimes of popping out of it and not staying in the proper leverage position long enough. I felt myself popping up as I was releasing the ball. That in itself kills the roll and affects accuracy. I had a stronger ball with surface on the rack but the inserts were too tight on my finger. I thought I sanded them out thoroughly enough before competition but I didn't. For me, I prefer to go as straight as I can yet have the ball enter with sufficient angle.
The second ball I rolled [going for the spare] was what I was trying to do on the first shot. It's obviously I rolled that ball more smoothly into the lane and I actually got my desired ball reaction.
Since I didn't slide very well, didn't get decent leverage, didn't get the ball off my hand cleanly and lofted the ball a bit more instead of rolling it smoothly onto the lane, that was the result. Noticed on the spare attempt, the ball rolled much more smoothly.
