  • APU?

  • Wonder what happened to the things that were taking electricity from it. Did they over-volt and blow up?

  • @teslapower220 Shouln't have overvoltage issue as the voltage is controlled electronically. However the frequency could go out of range. Normally there should be a protection for that which "disconnect" the generator (actually it shut off the field current, effectivelly stopping the production). However with a runaway engine this is even worse: no load now!

  • Wait till the turbo kicks in

  • Wow.

  • The generator wanted to race >:)

  • did it ever scatter or did they get it shut down in time?

  • @alecluke844

I think it came to a screeching halt without scattering.

  • where was the co2?

  • Wow...Clear!!!

That Flip Video camera shoots some good footage... Think I will invest in one...

So did that engine ultimately wind up turning in to a grenade? It was building a lot of speed at the end there...I can only imagine what the rest of the events were

  • CO2 fire extinguisher in the intake will do it

  • @triden55

Yeah that's what my uncle did to his truck... He has an old Long nose Pete with a Detroit 12v71TA..One day it decided it was going to run away... blew a turbo seal... So he grabs his fire extinguisher and shoots it in to the intake... The motor didn't reach a dangerous RPM but it was heading that way real fast...He replaced the Turbo and that truck still runs good to this day..
