@GamerHeavy Nope. My car is decently priced, has been chosen once year of the car in the US, does everything which this piece of shit does, if not better, receives top rating from consumer reports. It also has the gighest safety rating from IIHS (Volvo's are known for their safety).
However, This car being an over priced piece of shit has nothing to do what my car is. This car is a crap period. Over priced period. If you like crap fo buy one.
@Tautomerization12 in my opinion you are a racist bigot who can't digest that there are better Japanese cars around than European or American cars. My guess is you can't digest the idea that white race is not superior to others.
Just bought one and absolutely love it! Best looking crossover on the road inside and out. If you are thinking of purchasing a crossover I highly suggest test driving the XC60 last. Certainly the most solid car I have ever owned. Volvo hit the nail on the head with this car in every way…. Go Volvo!
@Major9999 It's built for Swedish conditions. Combining front wheel drive, state of the art anti spin technology and ABS brakes together with Volvo's long life of safety and technology, I'd say the XC60 absolutely is one of the best and safest car's you could possibly drive in winter terrain. I just recently got to start my XC60 in -27°C and it still worked like a charm. Took minutes before the heat got warm again. And the day after I put the pre-heater on which made it warm before I started it
Guy on my street has one in a beautiful snow white. Looks so good, especially during the night, with the shape of its lights and its silhouette... Best Crossover available right now
@LoveTheCity123 My parents got one a few weeks ago, it's a T5 AWD R-Design. It drives like a dream, it's faster than my old Audi (Sadly...) and it looks so sexy! Man, I love to drive it now that we have snow here in switzerland... :P
@LoveTheCity123 But I thought you were rich? Your family has 328's, 528's, 2 740's, an R8, and 2 multimillion dollar yachts? How can you not afford this piece of shit car?
Oh right, because you're fucking lying. Im stalking your comments for like an hour and all you say is lie about the car you have in the videos.
ouch haha. you just embarassed the crap out of him haha. i hate liars. he should watch the movie gullivers travel and actually learn the consequences of lying.
I had a 3 day test drive of this vehicle. It is superb. Other than numb steering feel it is close to a BMW X5 in handling and is a little smoother. The 300hp/325 lb ft turbo on the 2011 models is super smooth and one of the best engines I've driven (owned bmw and infinitis). It is packed with features and better looks in top R design trim. The downside is that it is mid 40's in price and resale on Volvos has been horrible. Seats are a little narrow for me, but V comfortable for most.
My dad was one of the project leading engineers working on this beautiful and sexy car. I have one of these awesome T6 AWD R-Designs back home and it's truly an amazing car! It behaves like a small sedan, It looks so sexy and it still feels like a luxury Mercedes inside. Volvo for life!
@wellerocks My parents got one (T5 AWD R-Design) too and I love to drive it! Congratulations to your dad, whatever he has contributed on the development of this car, he made great!
Sadly it's even faster than my old Audi, damnit... :P
I had a played at the GPS when I test drove the XC60 and it works well very acurate. The control on the column is very easy for the drive plus there is a remote control for the passengers to navigate too. Don't know why they said it's hard to use!!! Also the boot is the roomiest out of the Q5, X3 & X1, back seat space is more than adequate. Road feedback with new power steering will be even better. Go check it out for yourself.
MY11 model does not have the front driving lights. I was told that Volvo changed the power steering system and was not able to fit the lights due to the limited space left in the front. Does anyone out there know the reasons cause I am looking to buy one.
I'd rather buy an Infiniti EX37... 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds. You get a lot more bang for your money. Infiniti has better technology, reliability and a sportier drive. With that said, Infiniti's come from the same car company that makes the mighty GTR.
I would,nt call it small suv. I've seen them and they no smaller than the older xc90, and they didn't consider that small. It's gotta be bigger that a rave 4.
@andrewdishman26 No, the XC90 is still in production and it is only slighty bigger than a Rav4. The XC90 could squeze in 7 passangers, this can only carry 5.
God, I hate how he keeps comparing this to the GLK, in everycomparison between the two the Mercedes comes LAST!!!!! Does this guy know what he's talking about?
@quatlen i agree!! i have a Volvo C30, its mid range (so not the T5) but its far more luxurious than anything in its class, namely VW Golf, Mini Cooper or the cars with which it shares its platform, the Ford Focus XR5 (aka ST) or Mazda3 MPS (aka Mazdaspeed3)
@quatlen "I don't know why people think small means UNluxurious."
Because europeans think that way, Japanes cars always carry more value than European cars and they are smaller and more economical. To defame Japanese europeans must come up with a lie. Now europeans started to see light in the American market and they can invest in luxurious small cars they started to give a different image that's all.
Made a test and it looks great : good motor sound but not too loud, very nice exterior and interior design, very good seating, no wind noise at 180 kph (115 mph)
One slight problem : the suspension isn't firm enough on turns
@jubilantlady yep got it 4 weeks ago and its GREAT i love it, beautiful car (black sapphire color) although another slight disadvantage is the lack of seat holding, it's just too soft lateraly
And i took the high performance sound plus the subwoofer : WOOOOOOOOOOOOW great sound, i wonder what it sounds like with premium sound
@SF49ersfanatic thanks for your review. i am worried about the seats. I need good seats...but I guess you could be built with a diff sensitivity than me. I hope the seats dont turn me off...because I want to be comfortable driving for long distances. How far of a drive have you taken it so far? Sorry for the questions...
@jubilantlady Your questions are welcomed ! Buying a car is an important decision ! i drove for 1100km that is about 700 miles ; the problem of the seats is when you drive sporty in curves so don't worry for long distance freeway driving, it should be very nice as the base of the seats aren't as hard as in the S40. Four years ago that was one big fact that made me choose a car other than the S40. I'll be off for two weeks and driving 1500 miles round trip to France so don't mind asking again
not by a lot, but yes it is, indeed, bigger. height is where it has more on the others, if you ask me. it surprised me that he said this is shorter than the q5. the cargo room appears to be much larger in the XC60...
I've got 3 (winter, summer and parts car) 89 760 Turbo Wagons that are not Fords or "fiords". All for the price of $4,000 5 years ago. These 20 year old Swedish tanks are just now showing tiny specs of rust.
With paint jobs and new overhauls I did on both, I bet they will outlast the XC60's in another 20 years.
Why would I want this when the 760 wagons have more cargo space than the Jeep cherokee. They are the Anti-SUV's and proud of them.
I got thumbs down for making a COMPLIMENT on this car??
hey, Volvo's for the most part are not fun or exciting cars in any way. That's just a fact of life, this Volvo XC60 (and the C30) are both exceptions for that fact.
ha! well she would have draged you off in it if she had the t6, that is of course it you don't have the supercharged v8 range rover sport. Although they both have the same 0 to 60mph time (post 2010 range rover sport supercharged).

The volvo xc60 is really the safest car on the road today and crash tests prove it, in ANCAP (australian version of NCAP) the xc60 scored 36.53 out of 37 which is the highest result recorded so far. This is in comparision to the 2008 mercedes ml which scored 33.97 out of 37, the land rover freelander 2 which got 34.84 out of 37, saab 95 32.56 - 37. Compare it to any other car on ANCAP and the volvo xc60 always comes out on top for crash test results.
Thanks for the follow-up. That is very interesting. However, when it comes to really small cars, you cannot escape physics. Just look at what happened to the Fit, Yaris, and SMART recently in offset crash simulations.
Wormtail, as mentoned in the video, the XC60 is roughly the size of the current Toyota RAV4. It is nowhere near the size of a Fit, Yaris or SMART car. While described as small, it's still much larger than many vehicles on the road... sure, you can't argue with physics, but unless you're running head on into an 18-wheeler, you'll be extremely safe in this vehicle.
@Wormtail81 Volvo claims the XC60 is it's safest car made to date. I'm not quoting them word by word as I don't remember, but nonetheless it was a tall claim to make. I also also note this car may not be large, but it certainly is not small. And it's on the heavy side so you've got a lot of car goin for ya. I wouldn't think twice before getting in this and taking a long trip somewhere.
There's a difference between the fantasy of an aspirational vehicle and the utilitarian considerations of a more practical, and realistic one. (Even if I become wealthy, I will never actually purchase a Ferrari. I am as much a fan of the racing team, which is the company's true purpose.) Ferrari's are measured by their track performance as much as real-world performance.
Yeah, good point actually. i want a Volvo or Nissan Murano because of their sheer practicality, And if I was rich I'd get a porsche or something because of astounding performance. Not a Ferrari though, I like their cars in different racing series more than road going ones too. By the way, you sound pretty smart, haha.
A $50,000 car? Not quite. The Volvo XC60 starts at $37,000 with the T6 AWD, and $33,245 for the 3.2 FWD model being introduced next year. That figure is a bit off. Also, so many people lease luxury cars these days to take advantage of lower payments that even if it costs $50,000, what you pay at the pump still matters. This car's biggest pluses are its handling and safety features, but I stress again -- it's not really that small. Maybe by American standards, but have you seen one on the road?
That's probably because they are the most economical option, and people are probably more economically-sensible over there. Can't forget that diesel is often much more expensive here, too. Also, Volvo's in America are considered quite luxurious, nearly all being equipped with leather, etc. As I understand it, European Volvos can be relatively frugal as well.
European Volvo's are not frugal, in fact they are exactly the same. They also fall into the same segment, not quite BMW or Audi but probably a bit above Volkswagen.
Actually, specific example from the UK, Volvos have significantly less "kit" than their US counterparts. Having just skimmed the surface, I've found a lack of:
Std 8 speaker sound
Hill Descent Control
Bluetooth
Autodimming rearview mirror
Automatic transmission (1300P for automatic)
T6 engine (obviously, though the diesel is a much lower 2.4L)
*Volvo is not alone, though, as nearly all luxury vehicles in Europe come with less standard features than their American counterparts. This is the case with Lexus, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, etc, etc. This is probably due to the fact that we, as Americans, need to SEE what we are paying for, and do not often take into account solely build quality. This is not a fault, just an observation.
I think it looks great. I would be interested in one. In my city we have no BMW or Audi dealer. Just Mercedes and Volvo for luxury brands. That Slalom speed is faster than the BMW 550i in the video they posted before this one.
I think us Canadians have a change of getting the 2.5T/T5 engine, as well as a diesel model...the C30 up here does start off with the 2.4L producing 168HP

You've convinced me.
Wormtail81 2 years ago
But you like Ferraris though. That makes no sense man.
vhghe 2 years ago
There's a difference between the fantasy of an aspirational vehicle and the utilitarian considerations of a more practical, and realistic one. (Even if I become wealthy, I will never actually purchase a Ferrari. I am as much a fan of the racing team, which is the company's true purpose.) Ferrari's are measured by their track performance as much as real-world performance.
Wormtail81 2 years ago
Yeah, good point actually. i want a Volvo or Nissan Murano because of their sheer practicality, And if I was rich I'd get a porsche or something because of astounding performance. Not a Ferrari though, I like their cars in different racing series more than road going ones too. By the way, you sound pretty smart, haha.

Who cares about the gas buying a $50,000 car?
ss19800 2 years ago 3
A $50,000 car? Not quite. The Volvo XC60 starts at $37,000 with the T6 AWD, and $33,245 for the 3.2 FWD model being introduced next year. That figure is a bit off. Also, so many people lease luxury cars these days to take advantage of lower payments that even if it costs $50,000, what you pay at the pump still matters. This car's biggest pluses are its handling and safety features, but I stress again -- it's not really that small. Maybe by American standards, but have you seen one on the road?
candlize01 2 years ago
They're $50,000 with all of the available option on the t6 all wheel drive.

In Sweden all we get IS diesel. There is no petrol option. Weird.
r1swedie 2 years ago
That's probably because they are the most economical option, and people are probably more economically-sensible over there. Can't forget that diesel is often much more expensive here, too. Also, Volvo's in America are considered quite luxurious, nearly all being equipped with leather, etc. As I understand it, European Volvos can be relatively frugal as well.
bg1379 2 years ago
@bg
European Volvo's are not frugal, in fact they are exactly the same. They also fall into the same segment, not quite BMW or Audi but probably a bit above Volkswagen.
ipbalkenende 2 years ago
Actually, specific example from the UK, Volvos have significantly less "kit" than their US counterparts. Having just skimmed the surface, I've found a lack of:
Std 8 speaker sound
Hill Descent Control
Bluetooth
Autodimming rearview mirror
Automatic transmission (1300P for automatic)
T6 engine (obviously, though the diesel is a much lower 2.4L)
Power seats
Panoramic sunroof
. . . . . . . see below
bg1379 2 years ago
^^^^^^^^^^^^
. . . .Tire Pressure Monitor
Rear Center Armrest
USB+iPod connection
*Volvo is not alone, though, as nearly all luxury vehicles in Europe come with less standard features than their American counterparts. This is the case with Lexus, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, etc, etc. This is probably due to the fact that we, as Americans, need to SEE what we are paying for, and do not often take into account solely build quality. This is not a fault, just an observation.
bg1379 2 years ago
^^^^^^^^^ And I sure can't forget leather!

I think it looks great. I would be interested in one. In my city we have no BMW or Audi dealer. Just Mercedes and Volvo for luxury brands. That Slalom speed is faster than the BMW 550i in the video they posted before this one.

Nice body, why not a Diesel , 6 speed, 2 wheel drive ?
ubuibiok 2 years ago
Because USA doesn't like diesels.
I think us Canadians have a change of getting the 2.5T/T5 engine, as well as a diesel model...the C30 up here does start off with the 2.4L producing 168HP
