I was struck, by the the residual and thrown about 10ft, ( witnessed ) myself and 4 others in the high Sierra range by Pinecrest, CA. Now I stay inside during thunder storms.
Wow Man that is crazy stuff right there. I bet living through that makes you be alert at all times. I would be freaking out. But if I lived through it I would be jumping for joy also. I would be right back out there filming it again too. That was amazing man. I may have come close to lightning but never that close. Glad you are okay. Be safe out there.
something i filmed and experienced myself ....no matter what i say it doesnt matter to me what you all think!come up with your little theories and what not..I experienced this..I felt it..I filmed it..If anyone has a closer video to a bolt i would love to see it!please post it or shut up!
between 1:16 and 1:17 the bolt that clearly hits the ground just across the street is enormous..it is the most important part of this video.....to think one came crashing down so close to me twice is what scares me.If i had seen this bolt i would have went inside the house.instead i missed the warning!
You weren't struck. My video is close enough and everything in sight had gone white for 2 seconds before I could see again. If you felt anything it struck close to you or it's the vibration from the ground where it hit. Also your camera would have fried. A bolt of lightning can get up to about 50,000 degrees. The battery would more than likely explode if your face didn't melt. My girl's ex was struck through a metal doorway in an elementary school gym and his shirt melted to part of his skin...
we don´t see the magnetic pulse so the lightning stroke away from the camera guy... What he felt, was probaly the ground potencial... As the current of the lightning disperse through the ground it can make high voltage potencial in a short distance (let say a 300V potencial by 3 feet)... it´s like you stand up on your feet on a 110V outlet for a short periode of time. IT hurts a bit but you don't die because of that!
It hit me..and i lived..when i yelled MY FEET I FELT IT.. that was all i could say after the fact. becouse i could not move as it had a hold of me and my shoulders and feet felt like i was frozen to the ground.
It couldn't have hit you directly, you'd be dead. Humans do not survive direct hits. The survivors are the ones that are hit by secondary bolts branching from the main bolt, or by current through the ground. It must have hit your house, or close in your yard, and the current traveled through the wet ground. Had it hit you directly, or by secondary bolt you'd be dead or seriously injured.
im sorry to say even if it arced off and hit him its still lightning none the less. may not be a full impact but it still attached the the main bolt. so its lightning.
And it would still have injured him. You do know what kind of current lightning carries, don't you? Arced, secondary, flashover. IT DOESN'T MATTER. All would have caused him to at LEAST DROP THE DAMN CAMERA.
Hmm unless the camera itself was strapped to his hand in which case when the camera went down like that it seemed possible. My Media Tech teacher always told me to keep the strap on the camera tight so as to not drop it by accident.

You dont get lighting like that in the UK, but I remember seeing a huge lighting bolt somewhere in the distance, I wonder if it hit anything.
