  • wow allot of fry... good job, iv just started to try and breed my betta, the female has her stripes and iv got the whole foam cup thing going, but the male betta isnt building a bubble nest, do you know what i may be doing wrong ? iv only had the male in a bigger tank for breeding lfor about 3 days, how long does it take for him to start the bubble nest and what do you suggest i do that worked for you ? the female is showing all the signs thats shes ready to breed... but the male...well any help

  • @lilapandas123 well what do you wanna know?

  • how do you clean the tank and how often? and were can i get some bbs

  • @dakotab619

well you can use a pipet or turkey baster to suck up the gunk collected in the bottom of the fish tank. youll most likely suck up the babies so before disposing the gunk double check by slowly sqeezing out the water into another small container. as for bbs buy them online. i recommend aquabid.com

  • @dan004red can u let fry eat infusoria??

  • Have you tried using microworm? I think it's a lot cheaper.

  • @YuckyLuckyDucky

yes i have used microworms and i agree. although i dont think the fry grow as fast without bbs

  • @YuckyLuckyDucky Feeding microworms can cause the fry's ventral fins not to grow.

  • How do you get rid of the salt when feeding them bbs ? you rinse it ?

did all your fry turn out the way your male betta is ( i mean the fins ) ?

  • @Cybersix1980

you put the bbs in a fine mesh (bbs net/cloth/coffee filter lol) and simply rinse them gently with water.

only a few because the female wasnt a halfmoon betta =s

  • is n't the water you use for your shrimp has salt in it ? is nt salt bad for your baby fry ?

  • @Cybersix1980 yes in order to hatch the baby brine shrimp you need salt

and yes the salt is bad for the betta fry

  • @dan004red so... do u change water often like once a week..??

  • how much times a day do u feed the fry?

  • @trojanshawaii the first couple weeks i feed them once a day

  • oh hey!! did u just syringe some saltwater in the fry tank? or, the BBS was already in fresh water? help!

  • hi! how do you get ur BBS in such clean freshwater?! =D

  • HELP!!! MY BETTAS JUST LAYED EGGS! THERE GOING TO HATCH SOON AND I DUNNO WHAT TO FEED EM!! I DONT KNOW HOW TO MAKE A HATCHERY FOR BBS AND ALL I CAN GIVE THEM IS FROZEN BBS AND CRUSHED FLAKES!?!?!?!? WHAT OTHER FOOD SHOULD I GIVE EM??? IVE HEARD EGG YOLK? BUT HOW DO I KOOK MY EGG YOLK??

  • @jetmea hey! calm down..here's waht i got in mind. hope this helps. you can boil an egg..and when its done, only take the yellow part in the middle ( the yolk) and mash it a little bit with water..then just give a few drops (not too much as it can pollute the water quickly) too feed. the best food to give ur babies are microworms! =D you can get the worms at your local pet store..its much better than BBS. (: hope this helps!

  • Mine don't chase it like your's... am I doing something wrong here?

  • wat kind of plants are those at the bottom?

  • so nice, where do you get ur bbs from? do you grow ur own? and will my older betta eat bbs too?

  • My fry just hatched, and i just removed the father, i've got my brine shrimp hatchery going so in 2 days i can feed them. they're living off of their yolk sack right now.

  • holey crap how many do u think r there

  • jus to clear up for ya the dense one is brine shrimp

  • wow there is so many!

  • hey, is this batch of betta fry all from one spawn? there are so many fry in there!

also, you have any tips so to make my fish give off that many eggs?

  • yes it is bettas can have as many fry up to500

  • try to arfford an tank glass

  • haahaaahaahaaha

  • What is the best food for day old betta fry?

  • well there's alot. brine shrimp. sea monkeys and mores

  • wow this looks itchy but really cool!

  • What do you have them in? What is this container?

  • container??? it's just a glass of water.... :)) LOL!

  • and the other one is a bucket LOOOOL

  • dang, at first i thought that was ur betta fry.

i was like DAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN wtf! haha

  • I just got a male halfmoon betta yesterday. He's absolutely gorgeous! I named him Shane :D

  • @TheKeelaKat

    THATS MAH NAME! :O

    UR FISHIE TOOK IT!!!

  • how do you keep the water warm enough for them? my fry are just hatching now in my breeding tank but i have two other females waiting to spawn allready

  • well my room was around 75-78 degrees. so there were no need of a heater.

  • i nid 2 ask u somtin..

wats the temperature suitable 4 betta fries? please tell..

  • i heard as soon as the Frys hatch u dont have to take the Dad out cause he does more good for the frys then ppl say is this true?

  • its somewhat true but most cases its best to remove the dad cuz he might end up eating them..

  • From my experience I suggest you keep the dad around until the fry are free swimmers meaning they don´t swim vertically but horizontally like you see in this video. The dad purpose in the first days before and after hatching is to pick up fallen eggs and the weak fry back to its bubble nest. I usually condition my male and female betta beofre the spawning process to avoid the male eating the eggs and fry. After the female lay all the eggs you should take her out straight away.

  • Do they need a airpump in their first days?

And how do you change the water without dumping them?

Is it possible they keep them with a soft slow filter in that stage of age?

  • whats a BBS?

  • stands for baby brine shrimp

  • hey people i have found something way better and economical way to feed your betta babys, they will feed on your sperm, that's right, i already prove it, they will eat it the first week

  • wtf are u serious shit i can use tat cuz i fuck a lot...lol for reals though imma try tat

  • wait, how you get bbs?

  • how many could you breed in a pool? and the bbs dont move much, easy prey

  • u nee da bigger tank or something u know but who cares

  • a bigger tank would be nice

  • how ur fry is so big at 4 days?! O.O

  • also when do you take the male out because it's been four day if you count the first day of spawning and my baby fry's can't really swim yet

  • normally it takes 3 days after hatching that the fry can swim on their own. remove the male afterwards.

  • does the first day that they spawn count as day one? tell lme aspa okay thanks

  • i start count when babies hatch.

  • yeah, i cleaned the bucket of course and filled it with water and a cup of atisons betta spa (indian almond leaf extract)

  • i used a empty gallon tub of ice cream that you can find in any grocerie store.

  • i feed microworms but my fry is not as agressive as yours why???

  • baby brine shrimp

  • so wats bbs please respond back

  • Baby Brine Shrimp

  • hey just a question if u spawned them in the bucket? did u use any filters or anything or how did u get all the poo n stuff out??

  • i didnt use any filters and i got all the junk on the bottom by using a pipet/eye dropper.

  • were do u get microworms? plzzzz help

  • ebay

  • i have mines in a full 20 gallons tank, will they even survive??

  • well the bigger space actually is good cuz you dont have to make frequent water changes and the fry grow quicker.

  • mines are day 2 right now.. they are still all over the nest.. hope they will eat microworms by day 3 or 4.. dam they are way smaller then yours.

  • this is seriously the biggest spawn i've seen yet... they look pretty active...my bettas just spawn too but i dont know what to feed the fry cause were I live I cant get bbs nor microworms...i've been told to feed them infusoria or egg yolk...i have been trying that and they have survived for a week lets see what happens next...

  • haha thanks. well they can also be fed mosquito larvae. yolk seems to cloud the water easily so make sure you clean out whatever leftovers.

  • omfg i feel stupid lol XD,i though the first cup was filled with micro small fry lol, everyone has a right to call me a retard XD

  • haha its okay.

  • what is your method in harvesting them?

  • well first i put a tubing into the container with live bbs and have it sucked out and poured into a fine mesh like a coffee filter or a brine shrimp net. then rinse with fresh water into a small container so they are not salty.

  • wow nice man!! very cool!! now do you breed your bettas in that? or do you take them out of the tank and put them in that bucket?

  • thank you. i actually bred my halfmoon male and plakat female in this. i didnt need a heater because room temperature is about 78F. a week after i moved them into a different container to make better videos.

  • OH ok i will try that next time!! GOOD luck with them! :)

  • Damn nice!

  • thank you

  • Those bbs reproduced in that container?

  • oh no i hatched them in a seperate container then gathered them and put them in a smaller cup to feed baby fish

  • I know u been helping me out from the begining but how can i get those bbs? i have the freeze dried but my adults don't even like that! THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR HELP U KNOW YOUR STUFF AND U DEF HAVE A BIG PART IN MY FRY lol thanks again!!!

  • Oh well you can find brine shrimp eggs at petsmarts or mostly any local fish or pet stores. ordering online might take too a week or two to recieve... for your adults try hikari freeze dried brine shrimp or blood worms.

  • WOW THATS ALOT. those are all FRY!!! and i thought i had alot lol!!!

  • yeah it looks alot but ive had way more before lol. depends on your female and how much you feed or "condition" her before breeding.

  • how many of this fry u got now in this moment?and if ui cant find microworms,or hatch bbs for my fry, what else i can feed them??yesterday the were hatched.thnx in advance

  • i actually have half of original batch. they are doing very well and growing. to answer thats a little tough because there isnt much foods that will keep your fry living and growing. this is because they almost likely depend on movement which makes them prey on food.

  • well if you have a healthy male then they should automatically make one.

when i breed them it usually takes the male to make one over night.

  • what are your fry in? a bucket? By the way, was that where they were born or did you move them

  • yeah its in a bucket which use to have icecream haha but cleaned of course.

this is where they were born. i wanted to do it the "thai way" for this spawn. seems to work better for me and my bettas.
