i got my kids out of bed to watch this display they loved it shame abot the ending should have gone on longer perhaps next year they can use a million and actually make it last a minute
Haha, we got there two hour early to get a good spot, unfortunately we chose the other side of the pier so didnt get to see half of it as they all exploded very low hence the fire. we heard on the speakers that there would be five minutes of normal FW the one minute of the record break so we all (and i mean half the beach) waited for a good ten minutes afterwards expecting to see the record break. not realising that we had just watched it. 170,000 dissapointed people hey.
I was talking to a few people at the Winton café this afternoon. They said some (170 thousand turned up)!
Glad someone video the event so we can watch over and over still a lot of money up in smoke! But if its for good curse and setting a world record fair play.
roar on the shore more like, a cats meeow. but at the end of the day they set a new record. And i had a great night i was getting off with some hot chick, while her boyfriend was somewhere in the crowd!
Yeah, watched it too from Branksome terrace. Knew something had gone wrong in the last 5 seconds when it looked like a mini nuclear bomb had gone off!! Poole Fireworks 30mins later were 50 times better!!
i was there last night i was expecting much more from that! they were shit as ever!! the end was great reallt bright but fire ?! wtf lol ? 2 hours or more getting out the carpark i mean i wish i never went :L/
Isnt that what they always say? The more thing change the more they stay the same.
Why go when we can watch it on Youtube in few hours after the event. Thinking about now I gthink its a sheer waste of money because its not like spending the money on something that can be played over and over with the same impact! This was a once in life time up in sheer smoke waste of money!
we were waching this on our boat, we were really close, lucky we didnt die!!! i know it should be really sad, but that was jokes! But i think i saw someone on the barge where the lauched it, i think (not to sure)
This was a fail on epic proportions. Thought the fireworks themselves were sub-standard, plus on their website is a youtube video of what they were trying to beat. And it was the same company. Last time they did 55,000 in about 30 secs and it looked way more impressive. Would have more respect for them if they put their hands up and say they messed up other than claiming it was a success and claiming they have the new record as they have on Bournemouth Echo website. .
The record was beaten, its just looked nothing like we all imagined - total crap and a massive waste of time. People seem to be very unhappy and feel mislead. Bad publicity for the town....
It wasnt a BAD evening.. Sat on the beach.. Had a laugh.. The fireworks just made the night better.. Luckily I walked to my friends house up the road and waited out the traffic.
Has any of you guys looked on the Echo site? They must have put that story on a timer to post it once it was done because it's saying that the attempt was successful, but thats a lie
What a gaff, still nice night to drop the roof on the old convertable and had a little party in the traffic que. Glad we brought a flask of coffee and some bic bics (also glad I know every little rat run around bournemouth. was home in no time-sorry poolepaul!)
the first display was pretty good but that was an epic fail.....but the later epic fail was trying to get out of the town centre after the event....dont think they had a "traffic plan" in place
it wasn't a fail, they beat the world record, but they went of too fast lol =)

Bore on the Shore?
Sorry, I don't mean to be cruel!!
We the rockets actually "launched" or did the whole lot just catch afire!!

Yeah, they look like the misjudge something here.
I'll always argue that the most fun (if used safely) a person can have with fireworks is with shop bought ones they fire themselves.
I've been let down at professional displays in the past too- I prefere to fire my own!

LMAO.Only at fuck-it-up Bournemouth could there be such a spectacular failure.
Weymouth and Poole know how to do it and seriously, I've had better displays in my back garden.

The best part of the 'attempt' was when the barge caught on fire

I agree with poolepaul. It was a nightmare to get back to Winton and beyond via bus.
Also, the whole event was nowhere near as dramatic as the previous attempt in my home town back in 2006, which can easily be found on here.
