Really I don't see why you don't try to get OEM turbo parts from another Lebaron from a junkyard, if not the whole powerplant. (your heads and pistons will not work with much boost at all, you have to reduce the compression ratio or detonation will destroy it quick- and water injection helps but only so much)
If the answer is "I'm on a budget" I don't think you'll be able to work the bugs out of the trunk scheme for less. (if at all)
@batvette Well I've done my research online like at allpar.com and talked to some guys at dealers here and it seems like my car should handle 10psi with the current Felpro head gaskets. I'm gonna start it at the stock 4psi that this turbo, which is from a turbo LeBaron, is already set at and gradually raise after I've aquired an additional motor, just in case.. First gear in this car is fantastic, I'm only looking to make it faster in the other gears mostly, not like a Supra running at 40 psi..
I have owned 16 dodge turbos in my lifetime. The biggest issue is the H Gasket and the automatic trannies.
I ALWAYS change the HG when I buy dodge turbo. It is very easy and if the old gasket is holding, you do not need to check the head for warpage. I use the HG from Mopar Performance and always use new new head bolts. It is cheap insurance. My current ride is a 90 Dodge Shadow ES turbo. Fulll manual valve body a413, 22psi , +40 injectors Powerstroke intercooler . Cheap fun.
U must spend ur life around shitty cars. An sl500 is nice and wayyyyyy comfy too. I would know cuz I own one. And it is way faster than a lebaron. Lmfao
@e30guy12 and yours cost how many times mine?? Mine is roomier, actually has a back seat, decent cargo space for a convert not including the rear seats, gets 30 mpg in the city, 38 on the highway doing 75, and don't forget the 93 million miles of headroom. Like I said, mine is a nice car, not the nicest in the world, but its a fun little sports car with a little price tag and its so easy to work on.. When your Merc gets to 188k miles with no major problems then we'll talk.
@lamboleum all im saying is the amount of money you dump into you LeBaron and that you're going to spend you could have turned around and purchased a nicer, quicker car.
@e30guy12 yeah probably but then I'd have to pay a lot more for insurance and won't have much room for improvement without even further expenses. I also don't want to have just another car you see everyday. I have 110 hp at the wheels right now. So after I do my less than $500 turbo job then we'll see what a $2000 car can do in comparison to higher end ones. I'm not expecting to beat Lingenfelters, but I will stomp on Camaros and Mustangs with stock or slightly built engines. Hopefully. lol
looks impressive. I used to have a turbo LeBaron and a Dodge Daytona 5 speed turbo. The Daytona was a wicked little ride. When you nailed that car it would spin the right front wheel and pull the car to the right, especially if the highway had those tar repair for cracks. I would play with another Daytona. the LeBaron wasn't as wild as the Daytona, but did ok when you nailed it. Both are fun cars to play with.
I have the turbo for it and most of the oil and cooling lines too. I'll run 7lbs for starters and its gonna be a remote mounted setup since it doesnt have quite enough accessible room in the engine bay for a decent setup without making full on headers for it.. I have a new rebuilt trans with stronger clutches and a shift kit I'm gonna put in this week and hopefully the turbo too if I have the time. I'll post videos if I can remember to take some.. lol
@lamboleum "its gonna be a remote mounted setup since it doesnt have quite enough accessible room in the engine bay for a decent setup without making full on headers for it.."
For a turbocharger? You can't be serious? Ever hear of "turbo lag"? It's gonna take several seconds for that thing to spool up at the minimum. That was the gripe with most early turbo vehicles, because their pipes were too long. Where you gonna put it, on the front bumper?
@batvette Dude there's no lag with those type of setups, all that down talk about crazy lag times is a total myth.. Look at some videos of a remote or rear mounted. When the gas explodes in the chamber it is expanding from the combustion itself too, not just the heat. So even if its cooler when it hits the turbine its still coming really fast and under pressure, even back there. Early turbo's were, well, just like early engines. Not as good as nowadays. And Its just going where the muffler was.
@lamboleum Well you can believe anything you like but don't say nobody warned you: You're forgetting it takes time for the expanding exhaust gas to reach the turbo, the further away the turbo is from the combustion chamber that's more time it takes before it spools up. Your intake plumbing on the pressure side will also be distant as it goes through the turbo. This means when you punch the throttle it's 2-3 seconds before the kick comes, squirting through traffic becomes a nightmare and well ctd
@batvette Well we'll just see whos right when its installed. Money's tight but only one thing left to go. Now about the exhaust. The air from the engine coming out doesnt flow down the pipes like water. It pressurizes the whole thing at once.. I'm not gonna have 4 inch pipe going down the way. Its 2 the whole way. You know how cooler air is more dense? Its the same with all gases. So even if its not as hot when its back there it still hits the turbo with the same force. Take a physics class.
@lamboleum was one of the big problems with the 79 mustang my roommate had in the 80s, I drove it a few times and he had a dymo label made and stuck it on the dash- "IDLE FOR 30 SECONDS BEFORE SHUTOFF" to slow that turbo down, yet stil he had to replace the turbo once from "coking" the bearing from lack of oil after shutoff- virtually all new turbos have pressure apparatus to continue oil flow after shut down, you may know all this but if not it's vital. good luck. Oh, physics schmysics. :-P
@batvette This LeBaron turbo I have only turns freely when its under oil pressure. So as soon as you turn the engine off it stops nearly instantly. Its a Chrysler/Garrett turbo, its designed for everyday usage, tons of starts and stops for over 100k miles, not just a couple runs on the track. And with it being in the rear it won't need to have a cool down period since its already gonna be 500+ degrees cooler back in the rear. Ball bearing turbos do need cooldown tho since they spin so easily.
@lamboleum I must not have stated that clearly, what idling for 30 seconds before shut down does is not cooling any components, it's "spooling down" the speed of the turbo to its lowest before you shut off the engine at which point old school turbos would not have oil pressure on their bearing- thus making the time the turbo spins without oil pressure, its shortest possible. I don't know of any braking system on the turbo as you imply in the first sentance. This is crucial, check it out.
@batvette No you did state clearly. I know my turbos. I'm not saying you're wrong, cause in most cases you're right. My turbo isn't a ball bearing turbo. It uses oil pressure to suspend the bearings. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but they can last for over 200k miles if driven properly. Somewhat because they stop quickly. Yes cooling down the turbo cools it down which helps to prevent the high carbon build, it also makes it slow down so when the oil pressure is lost it doesn't spin much.
@lamboleum tuned NA cars start kicking your ass because their throttle response is instantaneous. That 2-3 seconds is for early turbos with long underhood plumbing. Putting it on the muffler near your trunk is just insane, you're probably going to have 5-6 seconds of lag with that- you know your intake plumbing has to thread back and return, right?
Contact any reputable tuning shop with turbo experience with the trunk idea, they will bust out laughing.
@batvette And like I said i'm not looking to white smoke my tires all thru forth, or beat cars with 10k of parts in them. My whole setup will cost less than $600 for everything so thats a $2100 car total. And with automatics sometimes a delay is a good thing for traction. This car has really good low end power so all I need is an upper end boost. Plus I don't need an intercooler, its easier on the turbo bearings not being so hot and its easier on the car in general heat wise. It will last longer
@lamboleum well either you're not as crazy as I first thought or you have a lot of company in your rolling nuthouse:
v=RyZF_--BHFY
I think there will be spool up lag and these people experience it, they just get used to it BUT it looks like many of them are using big motors to begin with, not a 2.2 4banger. Pay attention to the universal recommendation concerning an additional oil return pump out back, makes sense and perhaps you can incorporate an after shut down pressurizer- this (ctd)
im not gonna lie lebarons r descent cars...i hav an 88 ebaron convertible with the 2.2 turbo and its deff a fun ride...i wld b interested in talking to you about ur little electric super charger to because im thinking about adding one to my other lebaron thats nto turboed
Was the car on 4 jackstands when you made the video? Its easy to make wheels spin when they are not on the ground and your speedometer would climb FAST!
I don't know why everyone thinks they can hate on a LeBaron when they've most likely never set foot in one. They aren't the fastest or the nicest or the best on gas compared to some but overall it is the nicest car I've been in my whole life and my life is spent around cars. Its quick enough to be fun and I never have a sore butt from driving 12 hours in it.. Oh! And I will be putting a real turbo on this car by the end of the year I hope so we'll see what it can do then.. Just fyi..
@lamboleum are you kidding me, take the money you will spend on a turbo and buy a different car man!!!!dont be foolish and spend money to put a turbo on that car . just leave it like it is and save your money till you can buy a car that is worth the effort. spent your whole life around cars? best car you have been in ? where do you live? a junkyard......
@sinister99gt I have friends with some cars with good power, and I work with classic cars when I'm not around the others. A 450 whp SRT4 Neon, 420whp TT 300ZX, a 500hp Del Sol, several Camaros and some others. I've even been in Lambos too. But none of them are as comfortable as mine, it can take corners way better than expected, it has a decent sound system, and its convertible. Its an amazing everyday and all around car.
@lamboleum yea we used to own a lebaron.. its nothing special whatsoever. i liked the car, but it wasnt particularly attractive, fast, or comfortable compared to any other car
@lamboleum LOL...YEAH RIGHT. You ain't ran with any supercharged grand prix in that joke of a car. Your speedo indicates you are in Ford Escort land, kid. And a lebaron is not all that comfortable either. Small, crampy, rough ride, slow and ugly. Not to mention all the oil smoke from the exhaust pipe coming in the windows at the stoplights. But, at least you got those electric hairdryer superchargers going for you lol.
@LT1HILLINGHOE well see I've fixed the smoking and leaks. Those stock valve seals are junk. And those supercharged Pontiacs in the late 90's were slow. They aren't hair dryers, those would push more air probably. lol
@lamboleum You are flat out fucking delusional. A Lebaron... nicer than a fucking Lamborghini? You're insane. I find your level of denial fascinating. The Lebaron has always, always been a piece of shit. It's good for a first car, or a beater, that's about it. If you would genuinely rather have your lebaron than something nicer, such as a Mustang, Camaro, WRX, or 1JZ Supra, you're absolutely, hands down, fucking retarded. If you mod this car it will be a never ending money pit. MARK MY WORDS!!
@xilix I didn't say it was nicer than a Lambo, just more comfortable. If you've truly been in both then you'd know that. But I would lake a Gallardo over any car in the world any day. Take your Mustangs and Supras across the nation on a road trip and see how sore your butt is. lol I'm not looking to do 8s in the quarter with this car, just give it more pepper under the hood. And faster never means nicer. And the LeBaron had one of the highest ratings in its days.
My 94 vr commodore 3.6lt auto. only extractors, exhaust, cold air intake and chip. (by the way on my provissional plates). would leave this car for dead. all you will see is my rear lights
I did put one of those 2.5 PSI electric intakes on my 1990 Corolla with a strut bar, and now it really makes a fun little car for zipping around town. But my 1988 Supra Turbo is my real baby. :D
The LeBaron GTS was a pretty fun car to drive. I had a buddy who had one for awhile, but he just sold it to buy some new stuff for his F-150 though...
I would have bought it if I had the garage space....
Sorry, I meant 91... here, let me edit. Well, probly only 86 because a)cheap b) car tuned for that stock. If I stick 91 in my accord, it runs like crap, gotta do 89 for it to run right, 86 doesn't quite do it... 1 month ago.
They do actually sell 95 here, that's why I was confused. Spanish Fork Airport, Utah, they sell 95 on Saturdays, and open the air strip for people to drag race on. :D
Well, probly only 86 because a)cheap b) car tuned for that stock. If I stick 95 in my accord, it runs like crap, gotta do 89-91 for it to run right, 86 doesn't quite do it...
@TheSqeeek Where in the hell do you find 95 octane? You must not be in the u.s... The most I can ever find on the west coast of the states is 91. The gas is crap. I know brits have much higher octane, e.g. 102 at sum fuel stations although it wouldn't make a difference on most cars...
@mcarthurwallace yah high octane gas here in san diego is hard, and theres only one place that i know that sells e85... so my 450+ project has been halted...
we got 95 and 98 octaine, but now its fucked up here! 95 octaine "gasoline" has 10% ethanol inside it. Ethanol has 33% higher octaine than gasoline, so the gasoline used in our "95e10" is worse than before. And even the 98octaine has 5% ethanol on it in here. ..now MOST of us MUST buy 98, because the 10% ethanol WILL break up some cars.
@Xaevi there are different standards of measuring octane. Most countries use RON (Research octane number). The US goes by the AKI (Anti knock index). AKI is usually a lower number than RON for the same rating.
the ones on ebay r BS, since theyre 3 amps. a reasonable solution at least for my rather small engine is a leaf blower. i found one at lowe's that runs on an 18V battery (i adapted it to run from my car battery), and puts out around 170-180 cfm of air. it works great at low RPMs, but above 5000, i made the system feed it 24V, so it puts out more like 230-240cfm, which keeps positive pressure. and now, it does nto drain the battery, the alternator can feed it enough.
Guess what bud I do have Two turbos on my car. They're 0.25amp motors, don't do a ton. Guess what yours has? Exhaust pressure driven.Tthere's an enormous difference. You have a 4cyl. I have a 6cyl I get better gas mileage than you as well.. Lets install your size turbo on mine and see who's faster. My car only wieghs 3,000lbs, I've weighed it. So not quite a tank.
dude bottom line is compare ur car and my car u have electric so called turbos sounds weak and half the people on here wouldnt do such a thing but to each his own my car DOHC inline 4 turbo charged by BOOST and INTERCOOLER the same as the infamous WRX<EVO all turbocharged 4cyl u cant compare so back off i would smoke u and ur tank enough said.
and like u said YEAH lets put my turbo on ur car 16g turbo with boost controller YEAh maybe ur engine would be considered fast LOL like i said u cant compare.
How much did all yours cost? Car and upgrades alike. And whats your horsepower rating or have you dynoed it yet? You're tellin me to back off? lol You're the one attacking and putting down my car. I'm just showing electric turbo results. thats it. No bragging anywhere, cause I know its not of that status yet.
well lets see my $1200talon CAME STOCK TURBO and stock tsi talons automatically comes with 210Hp 215TQ +other aftermarket full exuaust that i did myself custom air intake i did MYSELF with K&N filter so dude i know i have more horspower and tourqe than a stock talon an definatly a all metal dam lebaron
I'm pretty good with cars dude, you don't need to capitalize things. I've done tons on my car my myself as well. Thats the only way it should be done I think.. Yours is only 150lbs lighter than mine you know. Of course turbo Talons are faster but with that turbo on mine I'd beat you easy. My engine is really torquey. right now i'm at 150 ft-lb but only 115hp at the wheels. And yet I beat the bigger and more powerful V6's of Mustangs Camaros and Firebirds. And thats with a bad trans too.
@5secret the newer ones yeah, but if this guy thinks he's beating them with an auto LeBaron, dream on. A 3.8 Mustang runs 17's, high 16's with a good driver and a 5 speed. Most 5 speed GT's until 04 were high 14's to low 15's stock. V6 Mustangs are slow, unless you are talking about the all new 3.7 or the 04-10 4.0's. The 4.0's ran with Fox Body 5.0's. The new 3.7's should disenegrate 2V 4.6 POS GT's.
@alscort93 my bad man i totally did not say what i meant to say my comment was directed to GM 3.8 liters not ford i didnt think about that when i posted it the only reaosn i even commented was because i have a 2001 Pontiac grand prix GT with the GM 3.8 liter series 2 and i run 15.4's all day i even got vids of it on my profile which is the same engine in the camaro's my bad for not clarifying that man
@lamboleum V6 mustangs are horribly slow stock. a mid 90s stang does about a 9.9 0-60 a 96 saturn sc2 does 8.5 and its a saturn haha. beating a v6 mustang isnt proving anything
@normanaw just saying they're rated at 200hp and mine is 140. LeBaron 0-60s are 8-8.5 when running fresh. mustangs are supposed to be good sports cars. a granny car just beats it. lol just find it funny is all.
@chopmop08 u forgot to add u stupid fuck that's not whp and also ur talking about 170 to the wheels if that in a 2500 plus pound car and most likely its fwd give me a brake your talon is slow i hate people who thin they know what they are talkin about cool u got a k n filter and ricer exhaust u dont now shit so stop acting like u do not to mention ur car is prob the worst turbo car to ever exist
@chopmop08 u forgot to add u stupid that's not whp and also ur talking about 170 to the wheels if that in a 2500 plus pound car and most likely its fwd give me a brake your talon is slow i hate people who thin they know what they are talkin about cool u got a k n filter and ricer exhaust u dont now shit so stop acting like u do not to mention ur car is prob the worst turbo car to ever exist
lame ricer. there are no such thing as electric turbos. i doubt that you were even able to produce 1psi of boost. plus, your car is TBI and doesnt have the turbo computer, fuel pump, injectors, pistons or cam to support any real amount of boost.
This generation used multipoint EFI. Stock computer is useless as this generation was designed to save fuel. The stock injectors are good up to 200 horsepower(stock is 147) as is the roller camshaft. The compression ratio is a lowish 8.9 to 1, but the pistons and the internals are forged. This engine was used in japanese forklifts, but ended up as the great twin turbo 3.0 that powered the Mitsu 3000 GT. That said his Lebaron is exactly as fast as mine, and I don't have all that electric shit.
stock 150 hp form the turbo motor. not the crappy TBI one that he has. The CR for the turbo engine is 8.0:1. Your right the NA version is 8.9:1 but thats way too high compression for boost. The pistons are NOT forged. The forged crank was added in the later TurboII engine
@norco500 You are correct if that engine was in a pontiac.
The lineup of 87-95 mopars were the 2.2 and 2.5 4 cyl, offered in tbi or mpi turbo, with the 2.2 having the option of the lotus 16 valve head. That same year the mitsubishi 3.0 was imported with the 2 valve heads. 2 prototype turbo 3.0s were made by dodge, both owned by the same guy today. In '90, '91 the 3.3 and 3.8 came out, with the 3.5 being the last of them for the 93 model year, with 24 valves and overhead cams.
@Gazdatronik , lol i dont know much about all that im a honda guy lol, but what i know is that the chrysler lebarron my dad had was a 3.1 turbo covertible
You have no idea whats been done to my car. I do have a higher performance fuel pump and injectors but haven't updated the computer. I'm waiting to get the tranny fixed on it so i don't kill the car.The turbos don't add to the super performance a real one does, obviously. All they do is maximize the available air to the intake at all times. These cheap little turbos increased my top speed by 15mph. They're really only effective going faster. The engine block, pistons and shafts can hold 300hp.
Maximize the available air, HA! All those things do is restrict airflow, plus put a large drain on the charging system which takes more engine power to compensate for than those pieces of crap could ever dream of producing. Plus the car's computer absolutely would not make use of any extra air those things might hope to make anyway. Hope you got those things cheap or for free, because if you actually paid for them you wasted that cash.
Have you tried these on your car? Ever known someone who does? Nope? Didn't think so. Why don't you come down and see the difference yourself. I'm not claming them to make my car a Lamboghini, just aid with airflow. They take almost no power, I can run them off a small RC car battery. And if they're so bad on the airflow, explain this: I get 35-38mpg on the highway where as with the stock intake I only got 28mpg.. They're taking cold air from before the radiator. You must not know about airflow.
I tried so many fans and blowers on my car. Does it help? yes! and no. If the electric motor is too powerful then your battery can not feed it and you loose power. if you have an optimal power motor it takes away 2-3 seconds on 1/2 mile and your engine consumes up to 50% more fuel since the air/gas balance is wrong
Is there a big difference between normal and boosted ?

@lamboleum tuned NA cars start kicking your ass because their throttle response is instantaneous. That 2-3 seconds is for early turbos with long underhood plumbing. Putting it on the muffler near your trunk is just insane, you're probably going to have 5-6 seconds of lag with that- you know your intake plumbing has to thread back and return, right?
Contact any reputable tuning shop with turbo experience with the trunk idea, they will bust out laughing.
Not being a dick just giving you advice.
batvette 9 months ago
@batvette And like I said i'm not looking to white smoke my tires all thru forth, or beat cars with 10k of parts in them. My whole setup will cost less than $600 for everything so thats a $2100 car total. And with automatics sometimes a delay is a good thing for traction. This car has really good low end power so all I need is an upper end boost. Plus I don't need an intercooler, its easier on the turbo bearings not being so hot and its easier on the car in general heat wise. It will last longer
lamboleum 7 months ago
@lamboleum well either you're not as crazy as I first thought or you have a lot of company in your rolling nuthouse:
v=RyZF_--BHFY

Was the car on 4 jackstands when you made the video? Its easy to make wheels spin when they are not on the ground and your speedometer would climb FAST!
CurtShaw22 1 year ago
I don't know why everyone thinks they can hate on a LeBaron when they've most likely never set foot in one. They aren't the fastest or the nicest or the best on gas compared to some but overall it is the nicest car I've been in my whole life and my life is spent around cars. Its quick enough to be fun and I never have a sore butt from driving 12 hours in it.. Oh! And I will be putting a real turbo on this car by the end of the year I hope so we'll see what it can do then.. Just fyi..
lamboleum 1 year ago
@lamboleum are you kidding me, take the money you will spend on a turbo and buy a different car man!!!!dont be foolish and spend money to put a turbo on that car . just leave it like it is and save your money till you can buy a car that is worth the effort. spent your whole life around cars? best car you have been in ? where do you live? a junkyard......
sinister99gt 1 year ago
@sinister99gt I have friends with some cars with good power, and I work with classic cars when I'm not around the others. A 450 whp SRT4 Neon, 420whp TT 300ZX, a 500hp Del Sol, several Camaros and some others. I've even been in Lambos too. But none of them are as comfortable as mine, it can take corners way better than expected, it has a decent sound system, and its convertible. Its an amazing everyday and all around car.
lamboleum 11 months ago
@lamboleum yea we used to own a lebaron.. its nothing special whatsoever. i liked the car, but it wasnt particularly attractive, fast, or comfortable compared to any other car

come on you got a chrysler lebaron. i will race you in my wifes grand am and i will even take one of the wheels off to make it fair for you.

@s10383 my sister had a 3.8 supercharged grand prix 2 door and i won't say it ripped hers a new hole but it did beat it by a car length or so.
lamboleum 1 year ago
@lamboleum LOL...YEAH RIGHT. You ain't ran with any supercharged grand prix in that joke of a car. Your speedo indicates you are in Ford Escort land, kid. And a lebaron is not all that comfortable either. Small, crampy, rough ride, slow and ugly. Not to mention all the oil smoke from the exhaust pipe coming in the windows at the stoplights. But, at least you got those electric hairdryer superchargers going for you lol.
LT1HILLINGHOE 10 months ago
@LT1HILLINGHOE well see I've fixed the smoking and leaks. Those stock valve seals are junk. And those supercharged Pontiacs in the late 90's were slow. They aren't hair dryers, those would push more air probably. lol
lamboleum 9 months ago
@lamboleum You are flat out fucking delusional. A Lebaron... nicer than a fucking Lamborghini? You're insane. I find your level of denial fascinating. The Lebaron has always, always been a piece of shit. It's good for a first car, or a beater, that's about it. If you would genuinely rather have your lebaron than something nicer, such as a Mustang, Camaro, WRX, or 1JZ Supra, you're absolutely, hands down, fucking retarded. If you mod this car it will be a never ending money pit. MARK MY WORDS!!
xilix 10 months ago
@xilix I didn't say it was nicer than a Lambo, just more comfortable. If you've truly been in both then you'd know that. But I would lake a Gallardo over any car in the world any day. Take your Mustangs and Supras across the nation on a road trip and see how sore your butt is. lol I'm not looking to do 8s in the quarter with this car, just give it more pepper under the hood. And faster never means nicer. And the LeBaron had one of the highest ratings in its days.

They do actually sell 95 here, that's why I was confused. Spanish Fork Airport, Utah, they sell 95 on Saturdays, and open the air strip for people to drag race on. :D

@TheSqeeek Where in the hell do you find 95 octane? You must not be in the u.s... The most I can ever find on the west coast of the states is 91. The gas is crap. I know brits have much higher octane, e.g. 102 at sum fuel stations although it wouldn't make a difference on most cars...

we got 95 and 98 octaine, but now its fucked up here!
MikkoMuhis 1 year ago
@Xaevi there are different standards of measuring octane. Most countries use RON (Research octane number). The US goes by the AKI (Anti knock index). AKI is usually a lower number than RON for the same rating.

the ones on ebay r BS, since theyre 3 amps. a reasonable solution at least for my rather small engine is a leaf blower. i found one at lowe's that runs on an 18V battery (i adapted it to run from my car battery), and puts out around 170-180 cfm of air. it works great at low RPMs, but above 5000, i made the system feed it 24V, so it puts out more like 230-240cfm, which keeps positive pressure. and now, it does nto drain the battery, the alternator can feed it enough.

keep dreaming pal u have no turbos at all slo azz tank chrysler:) and if u do have atleast 1 turbo its still slo my talon would earff that pos.
chopmop08 2 years ago
Guess what bud I do have Two turbos on my car. They're 0.25amp motors, don't do a ton. Guess what yours has? Exhaust pressure driven.Tthere's an enormous difference. You have a 4cyl. I have a 6cyl I get better gas mileage than you as well.. Lets install your size turbo on mine and see who's faster. My car only wieghs 3,000lbs, I've weighed it. So not quite a tank.
lamboleum 2 years ago
dude bottom line is compare ur car and my car u have electric so called turbos sounds weak and half the people on here wouldnt do such a thing but to each his own my car DOHC inline 4 turbo charged by BOOST and INTERCOOLER the same as the infamous WRX<EVO all turbocharged 4cyl u cant compare so back off i would smoke u and ur tank enough said.

well lets see my $1200talon CAME STOCK TURBO and stock tsi talons automatically comes with 210Hp 215TQ +other aftermarket full exuaust that i did myself custom air intake i did MYSELF with K&N filter so dude i know i have more horspower and tourqe than a stock talon an definatly a all metal dam lebaron
chopmop08 2 years ago
I'm pretty good with cars dude, you don't need to capitalize things. I've done tons on my car my myself as well. Thats the only way it should be done I think.. Yours is only 150lbs lighter than mine you know. Of course turbo Talons are faster but with that turbo on mine I'd beat you easy. My engine is really torquey. right now i'm at 150 ft-lb but only 115hp at the wheels. And yet I beat the bigger and more powerful V6's of Mustangs Camaros and Firebirds. And thats with a bad trans too.
lamboleum 2 years ago 2

@alscort93 no mid to high 15's actually ive seen some even as slow as 16 and a half bit not 17- 18
5secret 1 year ago
@5secret the newer ones yeah, but if this guy thinks he's beating them with an auto LeBaron, dream on. A 3.8 Mustang runs 17's, high 16's with a good driver and a 5 speed. Most 5 speed GT's until 04 were high 14's to low 15's stock. V6 Mustangs are slow, unless you are talking about the all new 3.7 or the 04-10 4.0's. The 4.0's ran with Fox Body 5.0's. The new 3.7's should disenegrate 2V 4.6 POS GT's.

@alscort93 my bad man i totally did not say what i meant to say my comment was directed to GM 3.8 liters not ford i didnt think about that when i posted it the only reaosn i even commented was because i have a 2001 Pontiac grand prix GT with the GM 3.8 liter series 2 and i run 15.4's all day i even got vids of it on my profile which is the same engine in the camaro's my bad for not clarifying that man
5secret 1 year ago
@lamboleum V6 mustangs are horribly slow stock. a mid 90s stang does about a 9.9 0-60 a 96 saturn sc2 does 8.5 and its a saturn haha. beating a v6 mustang isnt proving anything
normanaw 1 year ago
@normanaw just saying they're rated at 200hp and mine is 140. LeBaron 0-60s are 8-8.5 when running fresh. mustangs are supposed to be good sports cars. a granny car just beats it. lol just find it funny is all.

1- they arent turbos
2. i doubt they even overcome the vacuum that your engine produces
Obctg 3 years ago
lame ricer. there are no such thing as electric turbos. i doubt that you were even able to produce 1psi of boost. plus, your car is TBI and doesnt have the turbo computer, fuel pump, injectors, pistons or cam to support any real amount of boost.
Obctg 3 years ago
you can't call it a ricer lol. it's an american made car.
sdv6 3 years ago
This generation used multipoint EFI. Stock computer is useless as this generation was designed to save fuel. The stock injectors are good up to 200 horsepower(stock is 147) as is the roller camshaft. The compression ratio is a lowish 8.9 to 1, but the pistons and the internals are forged. This engine was used in japanese forklifts, but ended up as the great twin turbo 3.0 that powered the Mitsu 3000 GT. That said his Lebaron is exactly as fast as mine, and I don't have all that electric shit.
Gazdatronik 3 years ago
stock 150 hp form the turbo motor. not the crappy TBI one that he has. The CR for the turbo engine is 8.0:1. Your right the NA version is 8.9:1 but thats way too high compression for boost. The pistons are NOT forged. The forged crank was added in the later TurboII engine
Obctg 3 years ago
you are thinking of the 4 cylinder.
the chrysler 3.0 NEVER had a throttle body. EVER. Nor was it ever turbocharged. The internals were always forged.
People who have the money have intstalled real turbos on their chrysler 3.0 safely with 9 pounds of boost
Gazdatronik 3 years ago
@Gazdatronik the 3.1 was turbo
norco500 1 year ago
Gazdatronik 1 year ago
@Gazdatronik , lol i dont know much about all that im a honda guy lol, but what i know is that the chrysler lebarron my dad had was a 3.1 turbo covertible
norco500 1 year ago
You have no idea whats been done to my car. I do have a higher performance fuel pump and injectors but haven't updated the computer. I'm waiting to get the tranny fixed on it so i don't kill the car.The turbos don't add to the super performance a real one does, obviously. All they do is maximize the available air to the intake at all times. These cheap little turbos increased my top speed by 15mph. They're really only effective going faster. The engine block, pistons and shafts can hold 300hp.
lamboleum 3 years ago
Maximize the available air, HA! All those things do is restrict airflow, plus put a large drain on the charging system which takes more engine power to compensate for than those pieces of crap could ever dream of producing. Plus the car's computer absolutely would not make use of any extra air those things might hope to make anyway. Hope you got those things cheap or for free, because if you actually paid for them you wasted that cash.
Infinitrium 3 years ago
Have you tried these on your car? Ever known someone who does? Nope? Didn't think so. Why don't you come down and see the difference yourself. I'm not claming them to make my car a Lamboghini, just aid with airflow. They take almost no power, I can run them off a small RC car battery. And if they're so bad on the airflow, explain this: I get 35-38mpg on the highway where as with the stock intake I only got 28mpg.. They're taking cold air from before the radiator. You must not know about airflow.
lamboleum 2 years ago
I tried so many fans and blowers on my car. Does it help? yes! and no. If the electric motor is too powerful then your battery can not feed it and you loose power. if you have an optimal power motor it takes away 2-3 seconds on 1/2 mile and your engine consumes up to 50% more fuel since the air/gas balance is wrong
aleksankazakov 2 years ago
its not your battery that cant feed it, its the alternator that cant supply the amps
