I loved Lennie, since I first saw him on TV explaining Bach and showing so many ways in which Bach can be performed. I was only 12, He has been my hero ever since. I had the immense privilege of seeing him live in Zagreb in 1980ish. I am 56 now, and still Lennie is one of my greatest musical heros.
Bernstein was a human volcano of kinetic energy; he had more energy and enthusiasm than the average person, and he always brought an unmistakable warmth and passion to his music making. He was without doubt America's greatest conductor.
I have never seen somebody who died as such a handsome man, except Picasso. It's a miracle to me. It shows that focusing on art is what keeps us the most young and alive!
@ipublica Picasso was not only ugly, he pulled the world`s leg with his rubbish. Better substitute your remark with Dali oder Karajan. But regarding Bernstein, I agree - but wait until I reach this age ;O) !
What a genius. Lenny was awesome at so many things...from his compositions, conducting, teaching, etc. If you want to model your music career after someone, he sure whas the one to do it.

Forgive me if you get mad at this question, But have Leonard Bernstein and Herbert Von Karajan to ever get a chance to meet?

I was never a fan of Lenny's. But listened to his 58 recording of Rite Of Spring. I was sold.

Qué pena que no exista un video de aquel legendario Concierto Final el 12 de Agosto de 1990.

Muchos anyos atrás gocé leyendo su libro The Joy of Music. Berstein un verdadero renacentista.

I grew up learning to love classical music watching his Young People's Concerts on TV on Sunday afternoons. This was a truly great man.
