Heeey, in the PAL version, the invincibility music is the same speed as the title screen music in the NTSC version.
Then you got the speed shoes and it had a seizure. Makes me wonder what speed shoes + invincibility would sound like in the NTSC version (in that music, the invincibility theme way VERY fast).
but what's this about the rings? I mean you reach 100 and then reset to 0? What?! But that's counter productive. So after you collect 100 and then drop to 0 your other 100 rings don't count? Or how does it work? But that makes no sense. Its not like in the Mega Drive version where you go, go, go, and you rack up rings as you go by and by then have them added on to your huge-ass score. Well, i still enjoyed watching these! Great intro, great job on the vids.
@thefidlerontheroof In this game collecting 100 rings will still give you an extra life but you will end up with no rings again upon getting 100, on Master System 100 rings only gives you an extra try, it will still add to the score but only between 1 - 99 rings. In this game the way to get a really high score is to collect only 99 rings and advance to the special stage, once there in the special stage you go nuts scabbing as many rings as possible because they will give you a huge ring bonus.
@A ummm, whoah. Tons of info, that's nice. Dude, this would have made a great convo! Ok now i get it about the rings, thanks. And what you mentioned about Sonic 4 i already knew but good point anyways and i agree. And that;s what you call counter productive! But.... there has to be some sort of system for rewarding the player. It's a dead game--just any game-- without any reward, yah know?
I get the feeling someone's gonna come on here, read this, and then try to debate on it. Cheers.
@thefidlerontheroof In Sonic 4 Episode 1, SEGA completely changed the game status, once an Act is completed and your score is tallied and you start playing the next Act your score automatically resets back to zero, in other words it is completely useless trying to score points in Sonic 4 as it resets itself upon clearing every single stage and you know how much I hate that. There has to be more in a Sonic game than just constantly running to the right side of the screen.
excellent series! And i make this comment after seeing all 6 of 'em. I have gotten so used to seeing your Sonic gameplay in 16-bit form on the SEGA Mega Drive that this was very diffrent for me. New and fresh. The music and everything. Ah, yes, the music-- enchanting. I just hope you don;t get bullshit from others about your style of play and your pace. I certainly do not have a problem with either your play style or the PAL/NTSC rubbish....
@thefidlerontheroof Well I know you don't have a problem with my pace in playing Sonic and it's good that you understand my philosophy on how Sonic games should really be played, it's just a shame for everybody else who can't see that.
If anybody has a problem with these videos and how I played through this game then they can go and suck it! There is more to Sonic than constantly running right. The rings and item boxes are there for a reason, theyre not there to look pretty and not touch.
How can Europeans play sonic in this slow motion? Sonic is supposed to be fast pace! This version sounds so drab XD

Monitor at 5:08 says 'cope'. Nice subliminal message there to encourage you to keep playing, and make you believe you can win.
