Rambo as many war veterans had mental problems because of trauma in the war He attacked the first time because he thought he was back in vietnam when they were trying to shave him In a mine where i worked a WW2 vet was there and a man tried to scare him, which in turn caused him to have a flashback turn around pin the man to the wall and stab him to death. He got out with no charges because he couldnt help it

@markbotv3 another thing, i know of a particular case where something similar happened. Rambo as many war veterans had mental problems because of trauma in the war He attacked the first time because he thought he was back in vietnam when they were trying to shave him In a mine where i worked a WW2 vet was there and a man tried to scare him, which in turn caused him to have a flashback turn around pin the man to the wall and stab him to death. He got out with no charges because he couldnt help it

@METALLICA6547 before rambo showed up the town was peaceful. when he got there all hell broke loose. so its not the sheriffs fault it is entirely rambos fault. i only wish the sheriffs of montana would do the same thing to californian imigrants. that would keep them from trying to move here.

@markbotv3 technically they arrested him for trying to walk into the town to get something to eat. According to the book, the sheriff was a korea vet, and was jealous because the vietnam vet's were getting all the attention.

@MnSPictures and what was he going to pay for the meal with? he didnt have any money. even to this very day in washington state you can be arrested for vagrancy if you are unemployed and have less than $35 in your pocket. i found that out the hard way when i was hiking from klikitat to kennewick. i was pulled over and he counted my money. luckily i had enuff and not too much cause if you have over $800 cash they call it drug money. and confiscate it. he gave me a ride to the yakima county line

Teasle did the right thing. he tried to avoid trouble by punting him to the next town but when confronted by a superior criminal he called for back up. i wish my sherriff was like that.

@amyhuk just to clarify things amyhuk i am not a leftist liberal hippy, im a republican. illegal immigration is after all illegal but this is completely different situation rambo wasnt in their town to cause trouble he wanted something to eat and was disrespected even tho he was a vietnam vet. as a republican i believe in a strong military and respect to all our armed forces. but the sheriff went overboard with rambo i understand he was just being cautious since rambo was a drifter in his town

@amyhuk but the situation could have been handled differently. no i dont think its justified that rambo destroyed the whole town for being mistreated by police. but the movie sends a message that vietnam vets needed help with post traumatic stress, especially at that time. but do i enjoy this scene of course, who wouldnt enjoy revenge, especially people who have done harm to u or the people you love, generally speaking.

@driftnman the sheriff and some of his deputies were also VETERANS and you dont see them commiting vagrancy or blowing up small towns. lets say you are right and the sheriff let rambo eat at the diner...then what? somone willing to blow up a small town because they WOULDNT let him eat a sandwich at the diner is cabable of anything. rape murder child molestation. what do you suppose he would do if someone didnt give him a cigarette when he demanded it? rape a nun and slit her throat?
