  • that nerdy show host is one of my college tutors. He's awesome.

  • He is so gorgeous!!!!!!

  • never see artists interacting with kids these days

  • @linorf - no because the record companies and agents are afraid of anything going wrong which could affect sales. Unless the "something going wrong" is staged of course, for publicity purposes.

  • omg this is so sweet and hilarious at the same time!

  • Heartbreakingly beautiful! you just wish you'd been there to hold his hand or squeeze him tightly !

  • I like how the first thing he says about travelling is that he doesn't like airplanes... while it appears he's wearing a pretty glam airplane pin.

Like the thing about cars and driving, I guess.

  • was reading marc spritz's book on bowie and it referenced this interview, summin about bolan lookin like a puffed up pixie or summin like that, true he had lost some of his early 70's edge, not quite as bad as i was expecting though

  • this steve guy looks like chopin :O

  • Aw, so sweet and polite. And he was a real risk-taker in fashion as well as in music, I can't imagine anyone wearing the clothes he wore and looking as good in them.

  • Great I'd never seen that footage before,ex quality too

    nice one

  • THAT JACKET HES WEARING IS NOW IN THE 'HARD ROCK CAFE' IN MANCHESTER - I MET HIM JUST AFTER THIS INTERVIEW - HE WAS A COOL GUY - RIP X

  • Perfect gentleman I can't believe he ever went on a plane he was so scared to fly I miss him so much this really hurts

  • I get the strong impression Vince/Noel Fielding from the Mighty Boosh is copying him. Which is a good choice!;)

  • Marc is very intelligent and smart

  • Beautiful man & beautiful music

  • <3 marc bolan foreverrr

  • fuck all of you guys laughing marc bolan was a musical genius, amazing both lyrically and musically. soo he liked to dress differently most people did in the early seventies. so fuck you for not understanding. i love marc bolan :)

  • Be still, my heart. How lovely was this man?

  • host looks like a kiddy fiddler

  • Hes like a fairytale character :-) I love him so much. If only i was around in the 70s!

  • Totally gracious, Marc was.

  • Did anybody else notice that girl taking the piss, she's sitting just behind Marc (0:28)?

  • Funny how alot of rock artists say 'I can't do anything else'

  • Steve Merike looks like such a dork!

  • LOL Oh my god, its Alan Partridges father

  • the aura that surrounds marc is breathtaking:) thank you for posting:)

  • What the hell is that host wearing?

  • @headly66 AHAAAHAHHAAHAHA

  • LOVE HIM!

  • Marc Bolan woke England up with his music at a time when rock was becoming jurassic. Fact is Bowie idolized him in his own way, and if imitation is the highest form of flattery Mr. Jones certainly paid him such.

Marc, for all the love he continues to get, is highly underrated for all he's done for rock and roll.

  • how does one acquire hair like that presenter's? its nearly as amazing as marc's in its own way.

  • Man, he could easily play the CROW

  • i love this man!

noel fielding kinda resembles marc in this interview i think its his voice

  • nice fucking tux

  • English Clark Kent. Waiting for the host to whisk away to the nearest phone booth and turn into Superman.

  • Wow he was pissed at the end for the "Lazy" remark.

Holy shit. He must have easily played a murderer :).

  • No he wasn't. Marc said himself he was lazy.

Then Steve said he was lazy too.

Marc - "Well lazy are you?"

    Steve - "Very lazy."

  • I wonder what happened with that film he talks about? Would love to see it if it actually exists.

  • Comment removed

  • It doesn't excist

  • Wow - what happened to Steve Merike. Last I heard of him was on Smooth FM...

  • @trickytree2k he is a teacher at new college nottingham, he is an awesome guy

  • not many rock stars of his caliber would be so polite and kind to a nerdy kid's tv show host. much less even show up at all.

  • @putdownan8dude You wrote two years ago "not many rock stars of his caliber would be so polite and kind to a nerdy kid's tv show host. much less even show up at all" Some close friends said in interviews that MB had a nasty dark other side you do not want to meet. With other words...how people appear on tv or in public doesn't say how they are in real. No matter how kind and lovely (and nasty)someone appears to be, one should be carefull with a judgement..But I agree he is very polite and kind

  • This guy taught me at college, he works at New College Nottingham now under a different name

  • my dad got that signed lp lol

  • Just a question.....

Marc wears the most extraordinary clothes...did he choose his own outfits or did he get any help?

    XXX

  • I think the other guy's clothes are extraordinarily horrible - Marc's outfit looks cool in comparison, although admittedly it was probably quite outrageous in those days. I don't know who chose his outfits, but he wore the clothes that suited his personality.

  • They both look like they're wearing costumes, but Marc actually looks like he knows what he's wearing. I love when he wears the tight pants with mary janes...too bad we really don't get to see his bottom half.

  • I love this clip. The host seems like such a sweet, earnest guy who is surprisingly unfazed by the uber cool Marc. They're both charming...but in much different ways.

  • my last post was in response to theyorkshirewhites btw.

  • Marc put on a few pounds (and I don't mean money) by this time.

  • Shame now anyone can take his music and do whatever they want with it. Miss you Marc xxxxxxxxxxxx

  • if you dont like Bolan then why even post? Sure some of his music was abit more pop orientated the Bowie's but he virtually started glam rock singlehandedly and he does deserve credit.

try being objective and admitting the man had talent even if his music wasnt quite your cup of tea.

  • Gotta love Steve Merike's hair! lol!

  • check out his threads man.

  • my dad has that lp what he give out and signs his name how cool is that

  • The interviewer looks like Richard Whitely's ghost! Marc used to mention the "David Niven film" in every interview, but I don't think it was for real! Marc used to wind the media up all the time, he was a great showman!

  • he didn't make the film with david niven, did he?

  • that host is a dobber!

  • This host is a legend!

  • Sadly his time on the Smooth Radio late show from Nottingham came to an end recently with the networked show from Newcastle.....

  • That host is ridiculous.

  • zeitgeist..

  • I suppose I should be happy that he just looked like a dork and not like Ryan Seacrest.

  • this host is a dobber!,and a ridicuous LEGEND,what do you think,lol.

  • haha!

  • So is Bolan.

  • Steve's my teacher at uni. Sweeeet

  • I'm American. Thanks for posting this types of videos. I've never seen any of this. Love the hair!

  • he looks a little like johnny be goode from razorlight

  • dont you mean the guy from razorlight looks like him?

  • It's so bittersweet seeing all this footage that we Yanks never got to see while Marc was alive. Such an amazing artist and star (not that many who are both nowadays) and he is really missed even this far down the road. Thank you so much for sharing the footage.

  • not the mARK I THOUGHT I KNEW

  • amazing. love his style.

  • Oh bless, wasn't he the most gorgeous thing.

  • @pargaluvva Just looove him, what a cutie!!

  • @pargaluvva Yeah, he was beautiful!

  • My 2 comments were for bobbybolan. £1000 for pix, yeah whatever.

  • Haha my uncle is well embarressed about this!!!

Look at his clothing! We will torture him forever!!!

  • Porky pixie or not he's just darling, Marc in the heart most definitely!!

  • Marc was so beautiful.

  • he does seem a little sad doesnt he..

  • Crikey,Marc looks good and still lying about the film with David Niven. They don't make POP STARS like him anymore!

  • Not lying as such, Marc was a fantasist and enjoyed winding up tv and press people as he always gave them something interesting to listen too. He could talk a load of bullshit but it was all part and parcel of being a 'star' and he was the brightest star ever!

    Delf n Kaz x

  • don't that host/presenter look like one of the python dudes in a skit? Looka that hairline and the suit!

  • Sweet boy, so ahead of his time and music!

"Where have all the good times gone?" Miss you sooomuch!

  • Oh my pretty baby! He was so unassuming. His face, voice, hair, everything about him.

  • Marc's bubble has clearly burst, he seems a little deflated.Sad

  • I wanna see marc playing a murderer

  • yeah i know...did they ever make that movie? lol

  • he looks pretty bad

  • Is there somebody out there who has and want to upload the "T-Rex tea party"?

  • damn. why aren't rock stars as charismatic as bolan these days?

  • I think it's because for Marc he lived and breathed the music. It was all about the music and his love of the music. And he had true talent. Who nowadays has true talent, a real gift? All anyone is in it for anymore is money and getting laid, nothing more. Just a bunch of pretty faces with empty heads. And a bunch of people with empty heads who buy their cd's and other crap are what keeps them in business.

  • I'm on my way. I could never be as good as Bolan, but good, catchy music WILL return soon.

  • I can think of one who is.Paul Smith.Very charismatic.

  • I met Marc a few days after this TV show was recorded - It was at 'The Palace Lido' gig on 'The isle Of Mann' and - he was still wearing the same clothes! - RIP Marc x x - Robbie - Liverpool UK

  • Can you send me the pics PLEASE.

  • YEAH SURE! SEND ME £1000 !

  • ROFL.

  • HA HA

  • I met him few days just after this interview in 1975 on The 'Isle Of Mann' where he was performing a gig in the 'Palace Lido' - he still had the same clothes on what hes wearing in this TV interview! (Ive got the pics to prove)!! RIP Marc x x - Robbie - Liverpool UK

  • tanx that was lovely.......wasnt marc honest? love him.....

  • THAT MADED MY DAY TANX

  • AWESOME!!!!!!! He surely was the King no? 'To lazy....and"I do cheat alot!!"Ha, ha!! Always so honest he was!

  • I thought the interviewer was Christopher Walken at a first glance.

    Thanks for posting!

  • The guy asking the questions is Steve Merike. He was the first ever DJ on Pennine Radio in 1975, which is now of course the Pulse. If I remember right am sure he once stood in for Tony Blackburn on Radio 1 in the early 70s for a few months. Worked all over place Trent, Picadilly etc..

  • Ah, thank you! That's interesting.
