Nancy, I have everything Jesse has ever recorded. (To my knowledge.) I have every song listed at his website. I had the pleasure of meeting and hearing Jesse at a little road house in Leon Springs Texas in 1988. He showed up by himself and there weren't more than about 30 people there because of poor promotion. At first he was gonna leave and apologized, but we begged him to stay. He was so kind and considerate he stayed and did a show, It was very intimate. Like having him in your living room.

I had a similar experience when I went to his performance the first time he came to Atlanta after returning from Canada. The tiny crowd seemed not to know who he was. What a joy to see how he is received by audiences these days, though! I never miss a chance to hear him, myself...even travelled to San Francisco just for one of his concerts!

I have only recently discovered Jesse as a singer rather than just a talented songwriter. This song is a lovely song and I adore the Victorian/Pre Raphaelite paintings that have been used. It seems to me that Eulalie could have been from that century. The name (also spelt as Eulalia) is from Greek and means ' sweetly-speaking' also the name of a 4th-C martyr,the patron saint of Barcelona. It is common in Spain and France and also found in England,especially in Cornwall,as I expect Jesse knows.

Hey Paula! I'm really happy that you liked Jesse's song. He couldn't come back to the U.S. during and after the war until he was pardoned by Jimmy Carter, so for years he couldn't tour here. Just went to see him last Saturday...drove four hours each way. He is still writing amazing songs, has a beautiful voice and is a joy to watch. Yes, and it couldn't have been an easy decision to leave his home. He did well in Canada, but couldn't come back to the U.S. to tour until Jimmy Carter pardoned him (and the others) in 1977, nearly a decade later.

Thanks for drawing my attention to this gem! I'm a serious JW fan since 20 years and I have all his recordings (vinyl, CD or both) except for the live ones. I now have to add Live from Mountain Stage to my collection.

Another forgotten-but-great band is Amazing Rhythm Aces, partly JW's back-up band in the early years. Lead singer Russell Smith sings his song Third Rate Romance on JW's (always generous) 1974 LP Learn to love it. Anyone knows where on youtube I can find anything by the Aces?
