the reedy motors are fast but overheat. what gear should i run it on. i ran a 23 and it got so hot it burnt the sautter of the wires. should i run a 16 maybe. and how do you clean the brushes.
@TheChaseisbeast I ran between a 17-19T most of the time, depending on the size of the track. I use a fiberglass pen to clean the brushes. Trinity used to sell them, I don't know if they still do or not.
hi wot sort of battery should i get i am getting the SC10 in a couple of days and i am thinking or racing it wot sort of battery should i get plz tell me URGENLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
can you answer this question? the stock brushed motor on the sc10 the reedy radon. does it ever overheat on you. because i was runnning it and it started smoking and i was running the stock pinion. i bought one before for my rustler and it overheated so i need to know if this is normal and what i could do to stop it.
@TheChaseisbeast Yes, the Reedy motors do tend to run a little hotter than some of the others that are out there. Keep the motors clean, check the brushes often and make sure you don't over gear it.
@TheChaseisbeast I'd stick with name brand batteries and stay away from the importers myself. Reedy, Orion, Epic and others all have really good packs. I've been personally using the Orion Molecular 45C batteries lately and loving them.
now my cousins r into RC's and i was gonna get into it myself and i was looking into getting the RTR SC10....do u think this truck is good for someone who is just starting out in the RC world?
@golfis4triangles4 All depends on your driving style. The SC10 has more steering and is a more precise-feeling truck. The Blitz has more rear grip so that if you struggle more on-power that is a better truck for you. They're both great trucks and you can't go wrong with either one.
@golfis4triangles4 No question the SC10 is a better truck. It is very durable and amazingly quiet, especially brushless. The HPI trucks tend to bounce under power which causes a lot of problems. The SC10 is faster but looser in the corners. Some people add a little weight to the rear end to make it stick better. It is amazing on the jumps. Learn how to handle an SC10 and you will run faster times than you could with an HPI. Blitz is a good truck, but SC10 is best.
@e10ist It all depends on what size track, what motor and what ESC you're running. All those factors make a huge difference in what gearing you should run.
Hey, I was wondering if this would be a good beginner truck, At the moment I race 540 at the club and do alright in that but have had no real experience with off road and have never done a real jump with an rc. Ps I was looking at the 2.4 ghz 3300Kv brushless. Thanks, Fordy
@fordyrox I'd say yes myself. The main thing is to work the setup and make sure you get the right tires for the track you're running on. The SC10 has won at every level around the country for a reason.
@FLUFFINATORofCA You do this by changing the length of the steering links. If the distance between the front of the tires is greater than the distance between the rear of the tires that's toe-out. You should really never run toe-in on the front end, that makes for some bad handling traits.
@RCBuggy100 Change your approach. If you just power up to the face of the jump your momentum is going to carry you backwards. Let off the throttle a bit on the face of the jump and/or tap the brakes in the air to drop the nose. I have not noticed the SC10 having the parachute effect more than any other SC truck.
one question with the stock motor. After about 1 battery pack or less it tends to lose the power and I have finally figured out that I have to remove and clean the brushes and commutator every time. Is that normal?
@notsoeezee If you're overgeared possibly. You should get several runs out of the motor before needing to clean it, but it all depends on the conditions.
@notsoeezee I can't seem to find any on our site any longer. You can go to an auto parts store and ask for a fiberglass pen or pencil, that will work on both the brushes and the commutator. As far as brushes you might have some struggles there as the motor uses stand-up brushes which aren't widely available anymore. I actually converted my motor to laydown brush hoods and used some Reedy 767 brushes and the kit motor sings!
would you consider this being better than the Traxxas Slash? and what happens if you would change the motor? would the run time of the battery be longer?
@Wiiman6905 It's different from the Slash, I'll say that much. If you change motors the batter life could be affected in either way, depending on if you go with a faster or slower motor.
@REXXDG134 Often yes, but the turn of the motor is only part of the equation. If you have better brushes and springs on the 17T it can be faster than a 12T. It's a total package.
Ok, i have a tc4 running with a 2s 5000 pack. I heard it is not reccomened to run a lipo with the stock esc. But would i be fine running it do you think?
@wakjob94 The HIGHroller will have more ground clearance than the SC10 but the SC10 will be faster and handle better on traditional off road tracks due to the lower CG.
I Bought an SC10 today and fitted it with a Venom Modified 15d Motor and it flies down the straight. Also got a ball diff for it. Is there anytyhing you recomend me doing to make it perform beter because it bounces around alot.
@RCBuggy100 That's all about shock oil and springs. Head on over to our website to the review I did on the SC10 Kit and check out the setup I got from Tony Phalen (It's a .pdf at the bottom of the article). That should help.
@1MrRCRACER get the front and rear spring sets, a selection of shock oils, pinions, if you don't have tools some good allen wrenches...that should get you rolling pretty well.
@FLUFFINATORofCA The FT Truck would be more precise and be better in a race situation. However the RTR/Kit truck is still really stout and, on some tracks, may be the better way to go.
@DontShredFingers It all depends on driving style. The Blitz has a lot of rear bite to it where the SC10 has more steering. The SC10's ESC does have both a reverse lockout and LiPo cutoff while the Blitz does not. However the Blitz comes with a ton of extra tuning parts and the SC10 really doesn't. @thatonehalfnigga Depends on your track. Some tracks keep the Slash class as Slash only, while others have just integrated the SC10, Blitz and others into the "Stock" class.
i want to race my truck modified and stock so i was wondering if i could swap out motors consistantly in 20 minutes and i also have a b4 and was wondering if a 9.5 xll is fast enough to race in modified classes if not what do most others run
@FLUFFINATORofCA 9.5 is a very strong motor and you should hold your own just fine with that. I ran my truck in both stock and modified at the Short Course Showdown and my mains were 3-heats apart. In that time I managed to marshall, change motors, change batteries and get back on-track in time.
I bout one and hade it less then a hour and took a jump and broke the chasy and none of my jumps are close to these e mailed them and they acked like ,,,,,,,, like the truck just wish they hade better customer service
@dbracr27 Again, it all depends on the needs of the driver. I am faster with an SC10 than a Slash due to the way the SC10 handles compared to my driving style. That's not true of everyone.
@the1humor i also have both, and i use both, but slash is my main one. how long have you had your slash? ive had my almost a year and have only gone through the stock motor. im running with a mamba now and its been fine. ive had some bad crashes and the slash seems to hold up better. faster doesnt matter on the track cus your never guna reach top speed on it. they are both good. but i prefer the slash far beyond the sc10
@FLUFFINATORofCA I haven't used it so I don't know honestly. In the newer LRP ESC's I've only used the SPX Stock Spec and the SXX and they're really smooth and have great power. Comparing my X-11 17.5 and the X-12 17.5 I have the X-12 has more power all through the RPM band. I really like the X-12.
@shadowXboxclan I've been loving the new 45C Orion Batteries. Major punch and great voltage. You're going to need more than battery though as, even with a higher C-rating, you won't pick up 15MPH. You'll need to go to a hotter motor to do that.
i fried my motor and went to associated factory and their installing a brushless combo for free so i was wondering what ur opinion is about the reedy brushless motors
@fearlessforever9 Overall pretty good, about the same as the B4 and T4 from AE. I have seen a few chassis snap where the front kick-up happens but AE has revised the molding to reinforce this area.
@shadowXboxclan That's a 6-cell LiPo! NO, that is not going to fit in this truck in any fashion. About the only vehicles that would work on would be the larger 1/8-scale e-conversions. Use a quality 2S LiPo and you'll be fine.
@FLUFFINATORofCA The motor caught fire?!?!? Did you spray it with motor spray or something when it was hot? I've heard of ESC's and batteries catching on fire but not motors. There's nothing really combustible there.
@MTown701 I've actually really liked the kit motor. Now I'll admit I clean it frequently and swapped out the OEM brushes but there is nothing wrong with the kit motor.
They just have released an Factory team edition 4 the SC10, the reason why i bought is was, it is just nor dureable, i am not really a guy who is tuning my car alot with camber etc. but i drive quite good. i dont trash my cars.
hey if you remember me i ended up with the sc10 over the blitz and i can run a 7 cell battery pack in the stock class the range on my radio is bad can you tell me how to make it better.
@FLUFFINATORofCA Make sure you get the antenna up as high as possible from the chassis. There's not much else you can do except for perhaps swapping the radio out for a Spektrum-equipped radio.
Can someone who ownes it plz tell me what the part numbers for the SC10's stock ESC and motor to put in me Losi Desert Truck plz. THe motor I have right now will blow up on 2s lipo. PLZ ancer cause I want to start state champion ships for 2WD Stadium Trucks plus how fast will this truck go stock with 2s lipo
@262nik it now does! before i did not sadly :(....i just raced elings raceway today and there was a kid by the name of jordan that was killin it out there with a sc10! i think im going to but one myself
But, i dont know the advantage of using brushless beside less maintenance for the motor. Can you explain the advantage of using brushless instead of brushed in the same speed level of the motor? (eg. 23T & 10.5R)
and what good brushless esc for mod SC? im thinking of the lrp sxx. the sxx TC spec or the sxx stock spec will be better?
and one more question, a 8x2 brushed motor have the same speed of what turn on brushless motor?
@MrPicaldy Brushless motors are more efficient, have more power, longer run times, and far less maintenance. A 10.5T brushless would be more like a 12-14T brushed motor. For Mod SC there's a ton of great ESC's out there. I've used the SXX and SPX in Stock myself and like them both. I'm not a huge fan of where the sensor wire plugs into the ESC but with the latest motors they all have removable hall sensor wires anyways. I'd say a 6.5 brushless would be similar to an 8x2
i was doing a video lipo vs nihm just a min ago as he didnt see the difference i use the Nihm or lipo and 10.5t if just huge differece the pure power of the lipo conpared to nihm i was shocked 10.5 with lipo just own
Well the 10.5 would be faster than the kit motor. Even if you convert the brush hoods to laydowns and use a super aggressive brush the stock would still be slower.
Between this and the Kyosho SCR rtr, what would you go for?

@the1humor i also have both, and i use both, but slash is my main one. how long have you had your slash? ive had my almost a year and have only gone through the stock motor. im running with a mamba now and its been fine. ive had some bad crashes and the slash seems to hold up better. faster doesnt matter on the track cus your never guna reach top speed on it. they are both good. but i prefer the slash far beyond the sc10
dbracr27 1 year ago
@dbracr27 He means faster around the turns and stuff like that. The SC10 handles better than the Slash. No if's and's or but's.

@dbracr27 not as fast i have both

what class would a 9.5 turn brushless short course combo race in
FLUFFINATORofCA 1 year ago
@FLUFFINATORofCA Open Modified.

i am getting the lrp short course combo in the x11 what are ur opinions on it
FLUFFINATORofCA 1 year ago
@FLUFFINATORofCA I haven't used it so I don't know honestly. In the newer LRP ESC's I've only used the SPX Stock Spec and the SXX and they're really smooth and have great power. Comparing my X-11 17.5 and the X-12 17.5 I have the X-12 has more power all through the RPM band. I really like the X-12.

what is a good lipo battery to make this thing reach around 45mph??
shadowXboxclan 1 year ago
@shadowXboxclan I've been loving the new 45C Orion Batteries. Major punch and great voltage. You're going to need more than battery though as, even with a higher C-rating, you won't pick up 15MPH. You'll need to go to a hotter motor to do that.
HorizonRCdotCom 1 year ago
i fried my motor and went to associated factory and their installing a brushless combo for free so i was wondering what ur opinion is about the reedy brushless motors
FLUFFINATORofCA 1 year ago
@FLUFFINATORofCA I haven't run any of the Reedy brushless motors, just the LRP ones. The new LRP X-12 motors are excellent.
HorizonRCdotCom 1 year ago
i know 17.5 brushless is legal in stock classes but is a 13.5 legal
FLUFFINATORofCA 1 year ago
@FLUFFINATORofCA No, a 13.5 is considered to be Super Stock

hows the durability
fearlessforever9 1 year ago
@fearlessforever9 Overall pretty good, about the same as the B4 and T4 from AE. I have seen a few chassis snap where the front kick-up happens but AE has revised the molding to reinforce this area.

is a LiPO 22.2v 3600mah 25c 6s a good battery for this truck? will it fit? and how fast will it go?? PLEASE RESPOND ;)
shadowXboxclan 1 year ago
@shadowXboxclan That's a 6-cell LiPo! NO, that is not going to fit in this truck in any fashion. About the only vehicles that would work on would be the larger 1/8-scale e-conversions. Use a quality 2S LiPo and you'll be fine.

would it improve my performance if i put a komodo dragon 19t in it and could i still race it in a stock class.
FLUFFINATORofCA 1 year ago
@FLUFFINATORofCA A Komodo Dragon isn't a stock-class motor, it's a 19T so you would not be allowed to run it in stock.

i have one of these and my motor caught on fire so i would like to know how to stop this from happening again
FLUFFINATORofCA 1 year ago
@FLUFFINATORofCA The motor caught fire?!?!? Did you spray it with motor spray or something when it was hot? I've heard of ESC's and batteries catching on fire but not motors. There's nothing really combustible there.

what should i get, a sc10 or blitz? i have a t4 that i have used for about a year and a half and i want a short course. please help. thanx
pbluvr737 1 year ago
@pbluvr737 If you have a T4 and like it I would go with the SC10. It drives and tunes the same way as the T4 does.
HorizonRCdotCom 1 year ago
dont know about anyone else, but the stock motor was a piece of junk for me. It only lasted for a week so i upgraded to the sidewinder 5700kv.
MTown701 1 year ago
@MTown701 I've actually really liked the kit motor. Now I'll admit I clean it frequently and swapped out the OEM brushes but there is nothing wrong with the kit motor.
HorizonRCdotCom 1 year ago
@HorizonRCdotCom ohhhhh i never cleaned mine.
MTown701 1 year ago
@HorizonRCdotCom haha i just switched to brushless because its almost 0 maintenance
MTown701 1 year ago
They just have released an Factory team edition 4 the SC10, the reason why i bought is was, it is just nor dureable, i am not really a guy who is tuning my car alot with camber etc. but i drive quite good. i dont trash my cars.
but that is the reason i bought the Slash 4x4.
Astronout07 1 year ago
hey i was just wondering if they do make a 4wd kit for it?
7dwon 1 year ago
hey if you remember me i ended up with the sc10 over the blitz and i can run a 7 cell battery pack in the stock class the range on my radio is bad can you tell me how to make it better.
FLUFFINATORofCA 1 year ago
@FLUFFINATORofCA Make sure you get the antenna up as high as possible from the chassis. There's not much else you can do except for perhaps swapping the radio out for a Spektrum-equipped radio.

Can someone who ownes it plz tell me what the part numbers for the SC10's stock ESC and motor to put in me Losi Desert Truck plz. THe motor I have right now will blow up on 2s lipo. PLZ ancer cause I want to start state champion ships for 2WD Stadium Trucks plus how fast will this truck go stock with 2s lipo
RCBuggy100 1 year ago
@RCBuggy100 ASC29140 is the ESC, ASC9626 is the Motor.
HorizonRCdotCom 1 year ago
@HorizonRCdotCom how fast will they go on 2s lipo

@RCBuggy100 I ran 2S LiPo in this video here, should give you a good idea
HorizonRCdotCom 1 year ago
can you run a 7 cell 8.4 volt battery with this truck in a stock class because that is my setup and i want to start racing
FLUFFINATORofCA 1 year ago
@FLUFFINATORofCA Most stock classes won't let you run a 7-cell in stock, you'd be limited to 6-cell.

is jumping with electric motors different than nitro?
do you still brake to nose down and gas to nose up? does it have the same effect with electric
ninibooboo4 1 year ago
@ninibooboo4 The feel is different but the technique is exactly the same.

@rcpro456 With a better driver behind the wheel any vehicle can beat any other.
HorizonRCdotCom 1 year ago
hey, i'd like to put a brushless system to my SC.
But, i dont know the advantage of using brushless beside less maintenance for the motor. Can you explain the advantage of using brushless instead of brushed in the same speed level of the motor? (eg. 23T & 10.5R)
and what good brushless esc for mod SC? im thinking of the lrp sxx. the sxx TC spec or the sxx stock spec will be better?
and one more question, a 8x2 brushed motor have the same speed of what turn on brushless motor?
thx!
MrPicaldy 1 year ago
@MrPicaldy Brushless motors are more efficient, have more power, longer run times, and far less maintenance. A 10.5T brushless would be more like a 12-14T brushed motor. For Mod SC there's a ton of great ESC's out there. I've used the SXX and SPX in Stock myself and like them both. I'm not a huge fan of where the sensor wire plugs into the ESC but with the latest motors they all have removable hall sensor wires anyways. I'd say a 6.5 brushless would be similar to an 8x2
HorizonRCdotCom 1 year ago
@HorizonRCdotCom thx alot, really help me :)

i was doing a video lipo vs nihm just a min ago as he didnt see the difference i use the Nihm or lipo and 10.5t if just huge differece the pure power of the lipo conpared to nihm i was shocked 10.5 with lipo just own
joe0wnzu 1 year ago
yh but my club says sc truck limit 10.5t or or stock brushed motor in the sc10 (strange) im gna make a video of it today
joe0wnzu 1 year ago
Well the 10.5 would be faster than the kit motor. Even if you convert the brush hoods to laydowns and use a super aggressive brush the stock would still be slower.
HorizonRCdotCom 1 year ago
whats faster the stock motor or a 10.5t brushless
joe0wnzu 1 year ago
10.5 would be faster
