Absolutely right on! Taught my wife how to safely handle the weapon. She is comfortable in cycling the shells. She will never clean it but that is not necessary. All families need one of these in their homes. If we are attacked by the Walking Dead we will be in trouble. But for home defense you are right on! Home defense weapons should be simple to operate. The 870 is perfect. Buy the cheaper foreign shotguns to store in your boat or truck or motorhome or workshop. Remington 870 .
When it comes to my primary shotgun, i buy foreign.
Dont worry though, with the markup for importation and the restrictions to castrate a saiga when it hits the continent, i assure you, those pricks on capital hill gets more than its fair cut.
0:24 Thats what I'm talkin about. Americans need to buy American because we don't live in China or India or Taiwan, we live in fuckin America, keep our country going by supporting American firearm, automobile, electronics, etc. companies. Remington FTW!
US made guns such as the remington 870 are my choice. The reason spare parts. If another country had a dispute with us we could loose acess to repair our guns. A simple broken firing pin would make our guns useless. I also like the 1911 and Ar-10/Ar15 guns for this reason.
There are other well made guns from other countries. I own them, but It is wise to keep guns that you can get parts for.
All you who speak of the Zombie Apocalypse, are really saying you are murderers. No murderer has eternal life. What is more, you are enemies of the creator, and you will die savagely. "He who leads into captivity, must go into captivity, and he who kills with the sword (That's you) must die by the sword." You will be snuffed out quickly, and your carcass eaten by animals. You are also tagged.
@putodedago No I mean made in AMERICA. If i walked to every corner of this world and I have, and said do you know where AMERICA is they would know exactly what I am talking about. You dont hear people saying God bless the United States do you? No its god bless AMERICA. SO yes your definition is correct but I stand by what I say by AMERICAN MADE
@shoktroop fine with me I'm Canadian and i never want to be related in any sense to your country, and also the 870 parts are made out of country and then assembled in the USA. So its not completely "all America"
@pballer3232 Thank you for posting your ignorance for all to see. Remington 870 shotguns are made and assembled in AMERICA. You are a perfect example of modern people sprewing out ignorant comments. You obviously did no research on that comment. It would take about 50 seconds to find out that information. I did you a favor and within 50 seconds I got my answer from Remington. ALL Remington 870 shotguns are made and assembled in the good ol USA. Thanks for playing.
@putodedago The official name of the USA is "The Republic of The United States of America" so in its title....America for short. So yes, Americans are true Americans where there is the Commonwealth of Canada to the north and the United States of Mexico to the south. See how it all works out?
As a Canadian I don't think Americans make the best of every firearm, but for shotguns and especially pumps, I'd go American anyday. Thank you America for the 870, it's a classic. I'm not thanking you for all the ar and 1911 articles in magazines though lol.
Amen brother I like that you buy American weapons I chose to do the same! I own an M&P 40c and a Remington 870 Express Synthetic, great American made quality weapons.
I'm pretty basic, I've got an 870 express with 18.5 in barrel with just standard tube. I figure if any bad guys are left after I shoot my last buckshot, I'll transition to my .40 cal.
@BareFootSurvivalGear I hope I dont offend you but side saddles are for Mall Ninja's, Wanna be tactical kids and would be military morons. You will never see a side saddle on a Marine shotgun that is issued by the Marines. If you can't get it done in 7-9 rounds of 00/000 buck your fubar'd! And lets say you do run out of ammo, do you actually think reloading a shotgun is the way to go? No you pull out your side arm and use that. You do not reload a shottgun in combat. Period. Stick to reality.
@shoktroop yeah I'm sure you didn't offend him lol. Side saddles are convenient for reloading and while some people put them on just to look cool others use them because they are useful. Not everyone has a sidearm and in the event you have to reload a side saddle is better than a thumbing through a box of shells. I own the exact same gun with the same setup and the side saddle does not get in the way.
@Daikenhunter Have you ever tried to reload a shotgun under duress? Stress in a gun fight? I have seen seasoned shotgun Marines fumble with rounds while in urban fights. Let me tell you with absolute certainty when you have a guy breaking into your house shooting at you with a semi auto rifle or hand gun and should you panic shoot and dump all your rounds, reloading one shell at a time while some guy blast at you with a semi auto rifle or pistol your gonna with you had a semi auto hand gun.
@shoktroop so your position is "if you haven't killed all the intruders in your home with 7 shots then your shit outta luck because side saddles are stupid"? When someone breaks into my home I wannna make sure I can dump all 7 rounds down a hallway and then reload as quick as possible. Their are police officers and SWAT members who put side saddles on their shotguns, are they wanna be tactical kids or military morons? You not putting a side saddle on is your preference but its not stupid.
@Daikenhunter If you haven't killed an intruder with seven 12 gauge shells give up immediately. Buying a shotgun was obviously a waste of money if you can't hit a human-sized target in a CQB situation with a scattergun...
@naedanger123 what about multiple intruders genious? 4-5 guys show up in a van to rob you of all your posessions, they're all armed. You only have 7 shots because you think side saddles are retarded. So now you get in a firefight and have to be pretty damn surgical with your shotgun. If 2-3 of your shots aren't kill shots YOUR DEAD. And don't respond with "I won't miss". A $25 attachment almost doubles your shots. Its such an easy decision it retarded, like you.
@Daikenhunter 4-5 guys showing up in a van, all armed=death. Period. It's not some video game where you can draw a firearm like some kind of cowboy on steroids and kill them all before they shoot you. You are being stupid. Buying a wider choke for your shotgun is better. Increases your chances to hit something. Mind you, against 4-5 armed guys in a van, an M60 wouldn't save you...
@naedanger123 I hope you don't have a family because your response to a home invasion is pretty terrible. I can't believe I'm arguing the reasons for having more ammo on you when you need it the most. This shit should be a no brainer but you obviously proven that wrong.
@Daikenhunter Shotguns take too long to reload. Refer to my personal message to you and shoktroop's replies for a bit of sanity to be brought back to you.
@naedanger123 it actually dosent take that long to load a shotgun and i would rather have the spread of a shotgun then the chance of missing with a rifle
@remington870ism Judging by your comment, arkadaş, I would say that you are well experienced in shotguns. Therefore, I'm mearly going to say (on a friendly note of course) that not every shooter has the dexterity required to rapidly reload a pump-action shotgun. I understand your point about the spread of the pellets though. Only problem with that might be that there is a situation where you live next-door to someone and your walls are made out of crappy plaster... cont.
@remington870ism and you might end up hitting your neighbour. That's pretty damn unlikely though. I just prefer to have 15 rounds in a rifle that I can reload in a few seconds instead of a shotgun with 9 rounds that take a bit of time for me to reload since I don't fire my shotgun often anymore. That other guy was talking about going against, what, 4-5 guys armed with automatic firearms in a van with a shotgun? Nah, that's suicide if you're on your own. Unless they're the worst shots ever... :|
@naedanger123 P.S.: When I said 'damn unlikely', there were other swear words I wanted to add there to get the point across about how unlikely it is, but no. 1: excessive usage of swear words isn't appreciated on vids, and no. 2: I didn't have enough characters. I guess I can use the Campbeltonian word for 'very', which is 'hoora'. Yeah, that's 'hoora' unlikely. Sorry for the number of replies, but I had a fair bit to get off my chest.
@remington870ism Of course friend. It is in opinion. I'm not saying a shotgun is bad for defence (if I were to say that you should be wondering how I can type in a straight-jacket), it's just that since I use my rifle(s) much more often than my shotgun (for reasons that are of lack of shotgun ammunition and the means to aquire more since I live far away from any firearm stores), I am much more adept with my rifle, and so prefer it 10 times more. Thanks for expressing your opinion properly man.
@Daikenhunter I understand what you saying my friend. I hope at that time when they break in your falling back to your safe room with the family, and calling 911. Let me tell you this most dirtbags robbing your house are going to hear you reloading that shotty and most know a shotguns hold 9 rounds at most. I would rather have a faster realoading weapon like a rifle or handgun with a high capacity mag that puts atleast 17 rounds of whatever in my hand quickly. Not one at a time up a 9 shot tube.
@Daikenhunter I didnt say they were stupid please dont put words in my mouth. Lets keep the conversation civil please. In my video i said "if all you have is a shotgun then i can see maybe putting one one" Yes swat does have them but they also never reall use them. You think a swat cop is going to reload a shotgun instead of yanking out that 1911 .45ACP and drilling the bad guys? You reload a shotgun in a lull of battle or when you have your team covering you. You should have a semi auto pistol.
@stedboy1990 I'm sure its a good shotgun. I do not have any hands on time with it. It is a clone and I am sure if the company held to the original specs it will do it's intended job.
@stedboy1990 A friend purchased the 18" security model last week. Solid and reliable so far. It has the cross bolt safety similar to the Remington (not the ambi receiver mounted safety of other Mossbergs).
The Maverick 88 is a cheaper version of the Mossberg 500 (all barrels and accessories fit both of them). Like he said it is made in China ( I think) and the MAJOR difference is that it is mostly aluminum. The aluminum allows it to be lightweight but also much weaker than steel. Over time the guide rails on an 88 can wear out and bend not allowing you to rack the gun. The chamber may overheat and warp with extended use and it may not stand up to much abuse.
I see you have a pistol grip version (excuse me if I'm not using the right terms). What is your opinion on that vs. the regular version (like a rifle)? Thanks a lot.
@NoGuff Your using the correct term. This pistol grip system is a KNOXX Spec Op Recoil Reducing System. In short there are two springs in the stock that act like a shock absorber in a car. As the shotgun fires the energy is displaced through the springs and you dont feel the full recoil of the shotgun. A pistol grip makes a huge difference in the way you fight and hold a weapon. This allows for more control of the weapon. Thats the basic explanation of pistol grips and the Knoxx RRS.
Thanks a lot. I was looking at buying a pretty standard 870 Express Tactical or an 887 Nitro Mag Tactical. What is your opinion? Also, how do I get the stock & shot extension you have? Thanks.
@NoGuff I have fired the Nitro Mag Tactical and i friggen love it. It is a beautiful design and whenever my friend would show up with it I would pick it up and just look at it. It's that sexy in my opinion. It functions very well and I have had no problems firing it. We have shot rapid fire skeet at the ranch and got the shotguns so hot they were smoking, litteraly and they kept firing. Don't get any more reliable than that!
Home Defense = CQB. I long ass shotgun is not good for CQB fight in the dark in some narrow hallway.
Also the 00 Buckshot will fly right through two sheets of sheet rock/dry wall and strike someone else in another bedroom....like your kids sleeping down the hall
@2204Alpha First off if some jerkoff breaks into my house I am grabbing my wife and falling back into our bedroom/saferoom and calling 911. If the jerkoff wants my TV he can have it. I am insured my life is worth more than any material bullshit in my house. If he comes back into our room and so much as TOUCHES the doorknob hes dead meat. Only a dumbass would go looking for trouble if an intruder breaks in. And my shotgun is more than a match than any AR or AK at short ranges. 00 buck = Dead meat
@2204Alpha 00 buck actualy will hold a good pattern (10") for about 30' but the idea is to not miss so that you dont penetrate interior walls, also assumeing a kneeling possition down on one knee will direct your shot up, keep this in mind unless there is a floor above you, but the same argmentis made for hanguns also, that is why its important to take a safety course that teaches target, and beyond target thinking, so you dont shoot the neighbors cat.
I live in Indianapolis and am recently married expecting our first baby in 3 months. I'm very interested in this shotgun for my home protection. Can you tell me what is a fair price, w/ the setup that you have on that model, would be?
@chraw1983 You can get one used in good condition for about 175 bucks or new plane jane 870 for about 300 bucks. Thats what I did. I then drilled out the bead sight and JB welded a tritium front sight, added an extended round tube extension and installed the KNOXX spec op RRS (recoild reducing system) I drilled out the forearm and installed a small weaver base to secure my tactial light. She is worth every penny. :)
@zzJerryShufflezz It would do well with hunting. Any shotgun would do well. However you cannot shoot slugs out of it. Let me refrase that. You can shoot slugs but it is NOTdesigned to do so. :) This barrel is not rifled and is designed to shoot buck & birdshot.
@zzJerryShufflezz You could get in trouble hunting with this though. You can only have a certain capacity of rounds for hunting weapons. Even if you don't load them up full you cannot hunt certain game with a 8 round semi auto shotgun.
@monstarmarkum You obviously never been in combat. I have. If you want to rely on spread or think your shotgun is some kind of trench broom your mistaken and probably will get killed. So go ahead and rely on your bead sight. I will put my rounds on target while you pray/hope your sweeper gets the job done.
Great Video! I also have an 870. The advertised magazine capacity is 7. I can only squeeze in 6 shells in the magazine tube, and 1 in the chamber. Mine has the 18 inch barrel, which looks the same as yours. Did you say you can fit 8 shells?
@shoktroop - I inspected the extended magazine tube on my 870. I see no plastic plug in there, with the exception of the orange one which tells you when the magazine is empty. Everything is made of steel and I don't have the tools or the know how to make that project. The only other thing is maybe get a different spring? Oh well, I'll just have to do with 7 shots. If I get mugged by 8 Zombies, I might have to take out the last one with my sidearm or Machete! :-)
@dudespin Thats why smart men have a secondary weapon and do not rely on just a primary. When I was in Iraq in my tank I carried 3 side arms including a S&W model 29 .44 magnum. Yes it was not authorized but I didnt give a shit. My life is worth more than some political correct bullshit. So carry or have a backup and ditch the bullshit machette crap. That is just a silly thing guys like to say. I can tell you for sure that if it came down to a machette I would rather run.
@shoktroop Thank you for your service, Sir. Sorry, I got carried away with the Zombie craze. I would probably run too, unless I was defending my wife and toddler son.
Awesome. I fully agree with your idea of a simple gun is the better gun. Anyway, regarding the cutting the block from the feed tube, I'm wondering if you know if the Mossberg 500 might have something like this. I have the 7+1 mossberg 500 persuader (I can only shoot left handed and the ergonomics work better for me) and with the 20" feed tube and barrel, I'm suprized it holds the same amount as yours.
@EJL2004 The best way to see if you can hold an extra round is to remove the shell tube and look at the follower. See if its a small one or an oversized one. Cut the oversized one where the original cut would occure if it was going to be a small one. They are molded the same just not cut during the manufacturing. There is a line were the cut is supposed to happen.
@mdssdp This one carries 8 rounds of 2 3/4 12g. 7 in the tube and one in the pipe.. It used to carry six in the pipe, There was an orange block to prevent an extra round from being put in. I cut off the orange block from the tube feed button. Now it holds 7 in the pipe/tube.
Nice set-up, the only thing I don't care for on this set-up is the barrel length, looks like you have an 18" barrel on there and not the 18 1/2" barrel seeing as your magazine tube extends a bit beyond the barrel. The 18 1/2" barrel would have solved that problem. I have the same stock and it works like a dream, I can shoot 3" magnum rounds with 00 buck and it's recoil is next to nothing. Nice video:)
@FUBARinDetroit Thanks FUBAR! As you already know I agree with you. I have friends that come over to my house and shoot thier shotguns and I just laugh at all the shit they got on them. They took a light weight quick moving shotgun and turned it into a heavy, slow to manuever "tactical shotgun"... Just like most idiots out there they think they need all that crap on them. Like my video says "this is all you need" A ight, tritium sight and extra ammo in the tube. A Knox RRS is definatly a plus!
870 is nice, but I love my Benelli Supernova Tactical. Oh and even though it is an italian gun and not American, the US marine corps uses the Benelli M4
@richemt911 Glad to see your atleast thinking American. Yes the Marines do use Benneli's. They are well made shotguns. Price is a bit much for me just for a shotgun. I have used them in the Marines. I did like them but in my area a plane jane benelli pump cost almost $150 more than a remington 870 Talo. I took the 150 I saved and put a Knoxx spec op RRS and a tritium front sight on my pig/shotgun. Sucks being a student and poor lol.
@shoktroop So you would have bought foreign if you had the money to throw around? Isn't that contrary to what you posted? Not to be an a-hole, but how about mutual respect regardless of what you purchase. This should be more about promoting home defense and the 2nd ammendment versus who bout what and from whom. I'm all for buy American, but sometimes being able to afford something less expensive makes sense...with the money left over (I bought the 12 ga NEF pardner) I purchased some food stores.
@isoh20 No I would not purchase or try not to purchase foreign made weapons. Yes your correct in saying that it does support the 2nd amndnmt. And yes not all can afford expensive american weapons. But try not to buy NEF/CHINA or other weapons of lower quality if you can. I would LOVE a benneli but that is out of my price range and its just a SHOTGUN! I can by a good semi auto remington for half the cost. so why buy benelli!? Thats just me. I try to support American workers who make our guns.
@shoktroop They are legal with an appoved ATF Form 4. As long as they are legal in your state, and in your town, and your local CLEO will sign off on your Form 4, and you pay the $200 tax for a registered SBS, you can legally have a shotgun with a barrel under 18". This is all public information listed under the National Firearms Act. The information, and PDF files of the appropriate registration forms are on the ATF website. You can even legally make your own SBS on a Form 1.
@shoktroop There is something know as an "SBS" or Short Barreled Shotgun. The process is similar to obtaining a "SBR" or Short Barreled Rifle. They are not illegal, but heavily regulated. Also, a shotgun with a sub 18 inch barrel with a pistol grip can be classified as a "pistol with a smoothbore intended to fire shotgun shells," therefor in the middle between a shotgun and pistol, therefor being an AOW. An example is the Serbu Super Shorty. I did my research, and I hope this helps.
@Ironmaiden666trp nothing sawed off is ever legal, u arent aloud to mod them, in canada we can own shortened shottys, they have to be factory made tho, sawing is shitty anyways, unless youre a pro you make the barrel all effed up at the end
@Taud Sir, you are misinformed. With all respect, I probably know my country's firearms laws better then you do. In the United States, you can get a shotgun with a barrel less then 18 inches (USUAL Fed Standard). You can apply for an SBS (background checks, other legal hoops) which after approval and a tax stamp will allow you to cut down the barrel. You can also buy an AOW "shotgun" such as the Serbu Super Shorty, which I mentioned in my previous post. Thanks and I hope this helps again!
@Ironmaiden666trp you took it too literally, thats not what i meant shortening a barrel a few inches isnt quite making a "sawed off" we cant shorten them here too a few inches i meant the kind that are hack sawed almost right off to make it like a pistol
@Taud if you send him a message, I am sure he will tell you what he sent me in messages, that I was right and that he was generalizing. Look up "how to make a short barreled shotgun" on google, click the first link, and there you go. He sent me a conformation that I was right in my messages. Trust me, I am right, and you are misinformed. Please do research before commenting on something you aren't sure about, it saves time.
@Ironmaiden666trp You are correct sir, and I respect an informed man who does his own research and learns his topic before spouting off. I must try and clarify what my fellow countryman ;) ( Canadian ) was trying to say..poorly. In Canada it is illegal for us to modify a shotgun barrel. We can however purchase a shotgun barrel of any length down to 8 inches , 8.5 inch being the smallest I've seen, without a tax stamp or making it a restricted firearm ( meaning range only ) ..........
@Ironmaiden666trp um..... we can only have 5 rounds in a semi auto long gun, unless it's a rimfire in which case we are unlimited. We can have up to 10 rounds in a handgun though..??? retarded...yes. We can take a .50 BMG into the bush and shoot all we want, but if we were to take a ruger mk.III (.22 pistol ) into the bush and shoot, that would be illegal. um... we have to store our firearms at home in a safe or trigger locked, but if in transport, they do not need trigger locks... wacky
@Ironmaiden666trp ..... just wanted to maybe clarify for him..... also... just had "number of the beast on!" love that track!....... check out my remington 870 vid, I act like a bit of a goof...but I may have been drinking :)
@J0Gu7 Come around corners? Barrel protuding out ya i get it. If I have bad guys in my house I'm grabbin the wife, calling 911 and going to my fall back/safe room. Let the cops deal with the bad guys. If it comes to that and they try to open saferoom door they are catchin mad lead. I dont have to worry about neighbors so my gear is loaded with +P ammo and sabots. Muhahaha! Rule of thumb in urban ops. Don't go into buildings unless you HAVE TO! Obey Rules # 17 Dont be a hero & # 2 Doubletap.
@shoktroop yay for double tap if someone breaks into my house im crouching at my door seal with my shotgun because im closest to the door then my mom and ill see them long befor they see me
@hopecamel Dont forget your main advantage to the common scumbag breaking into your house.. You know the layout of your house.. He does not. And just like the police say.." I feared for my life when he lunged at me with that sharp popsicle stick" lol..
@FalseShadowx Mossberg is a great shotgun. On par with the Remington that is for sure. I stick with the Remington 870 due to the HUGE supply of parts and aftermarket accessories. I had a 500 at one time. Ran like a champ. It is the accessories and availability of parts that gives it the edge over the 500. Thats it.
@shoktroop Which accessories do you mean? I like the design of the safety and the slide release on the Mossberg more. It is much more accessible. I like the feel of the Remington more though and have heard they are more durable.
@FalseShadowx I do not use the safety on any of my weapons. They are loaded and will not fire unless the trigger is pressed and the sear is disconnected. In a need to fire immediatly I dont want to have to push a safety. I just want to push the bang button. I have never EVER had a "Accidental" discharge. keep finger off trigger untill ready to go BANG. Accessories. The Knoxx spec ops RRS is one main accessory. Large choice of barrels, stocks, tubes & triggers. Just a bit more than the 500.
I am with you Shocktroop thanks for supporting America! Unlike these cheap ass people who buy Chinese crap! I have a Remington too! It is not as nice as yours but it will do the same damage.
@shoktroop I'm hand held firearms enthusiast and know quite well the most weapons from different country. I have to admit that USGI weapons are my favorites but your legislation do not allow individual foreigners to purchase not only your firearms directly in USA without FFL but the accessories for them. I leave outside USA and to buy Remington 870 I have to pay 3500 USD to second or third-hand dealer in my country and wait for it for 6 month. Don't blame me, I can't afford such sum for it.
@D3286S I am sorry to hear you have such a hard time getting rifles/shotguns/handguns. Become a US Citizen and you can buy pretty much whatever after that! :)
@shoktroop If the things will still go so, I might really change my citizenship :))) It is pleasure to have opportunity to own the most reliable and precision firearms on which you can really count on and the USA is the best place for it.
@YamahaMonster660 The funny part about your comment "Better heavier duty guns" is that you actually purchased a communist piece of crap made in china! Ya, China made shotgun is better than REMINGTON!? LMAO! Please don't make comments on things you have NO CLUE ABOUT! What weapon do you think the Chinese make better!? What weapons do you feel are not heavy duty enough for YOU!? Do not hate on Remington users cuz you could not afford one.
won't buy non american?well man what is your car? or tv? or cell phone?or wrist watch?or toaster? or electric heater, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc get your head out of the last century
First may I say you completely missed the part of where I said Buy American to keep OUR firearms industry alive and moving. As you stated and obviously you can no longer buy American anymore this country outsources just about everything. This country has a very unique right. The right to bear arms! I encourage the purchase of American firearms so we keep our firearms industry alive and Americans employed..
@blebby It holds Seven in the tube and one in the chamber for a total of 8. Yes it has an extension and i used a no set spring. That way I can have the tube maxed out with rounds (7) and one in the chamber.
"If you can't get it done with 9 rnds 00 Buck... It's not looking good for you." - lol The humor in that truth.

Change the foregrip, if it was shorter you could get a side saddle... (for extra ammo)
BareFootSurvivalGear 2 months ago
@BareFootSurvivalGear I hope I dont offend you but side saddles are for Mall Ninja's, Wanna be tactical kids and would be military morons. You will never see a side saddle on a Marine shotgun that is issued by the Marines. If you can't get it done in 7-9 rounds of 00/000 buck your fubar'd! And lets say you do run out of ammo, do you actually think reloading a shotgun is the way to go? No you pull out your side arm and use that. You do not reload a shottgun in combat. Period. Stick to reality.
shoktroop 2 months ago 3
@shoktroop yeah I'm sure you didn't offend him lol. Side saddles are convenient for reloading and while some people put them on just to look cool others use them because they are useful. Not everyone has a sidearm and in the event you have to reload a side saddle is better than a thumbing through a box of shells. I own the exact same gun with the same setup and the side saddle does not get in the way.
Daikenhunter 2 months ago
@Daikenhunter Have you ever tried to reload a shotgun under duress? Stress in a gun fight? I have seen seasoned shotgun Marines fumble with rounds while in urban fights. Let me tell you with absolute certainty when you have a guy breaking into your house shooting at you with a semi auto rifle or hand gun and should you panic shoot and dump all your rounds, reloading one shell at a time while some guy blast at you with a semi auto rifle or pistol your gonna with you had a semi auto hand gun.
shoktroop 2 months ago
@shoktroop so your position is "if you haven't killed all the intruders in your home with 7 shots then your shit outta luck because side saddles are stupid"? When someone breaks into my home I wannna make sure I can dump all 7 rounds down a hallway and then reload as quick as possible. Their are police officers and SWAT members who put side saddles on their shotguns, are they wanna be tactical kids or military morons? You not putting a side saddle on is your preference but its not stupid.
Daikenhunter 2 months ago
@Daikenhunter If you haven't killed an intruder with seven 12 gauge shells give up immediately. Buying a shotgun was obviously a waste of money if you can't hit a human-sized target in a CQB situation with a scattergun...
naedanger123 2 months ago
@naedanger123 what about multiple intruders genious? 4-5 guys show up in a van to rob you of all your posessions, they're all armed. You only have 7 shots because you think side saddles are retarded. So now you get in a firefight and have to be pretty damn surgical with your shotgun. If 2-3 of your shots aren't kill shots YOUR DEAD. And don't respond with "I won't miss". A $25 attachment almost doubles your shots. Its such an easy decision it retarded, like you.
Daikenhunter 2 months ago
@Daikenhunter 4-5 guys showing up in a van, all armed=death. Period. It's not some video game where you can draw a firearm like some kind of cowboy on steroids and kill them all before they shoot you. You are being stupid. Buying a wider choke for your shotgun is better. Increases your chances to hit something. Mind you, against 4-5 armed guys in a van, an M60 wouldn't save you...
naedanger123 2 months ago
@naedanger123 I hope you don't have a family because your response to a home invasion is pretty terrible. I can't believe I'm arguing the reasons for having more ammo on you when you need it the most. This shit should be a no brainer but you obviously proven that wrong.
Daikenhunter 2 months ago
@Daikenhunter Shotguns take too long to reload. Refer to my personal message to you and shoktroop's replies for a bit of sanity to be brought back to you.
naedanger123 2 months ago
@naedanger123 it actually dosent take that long to load a shotgun and i would rather have the spread of a shotgun then the chance of missing with a rifle
remington870ism 1 month ago
@remington870ism Judging by your comment, arkadaş, I would say that you are well experienced in shotguns. Therefore, I'm mearly going to say (on a friendly note of course) that not every shooter has the dexterity required to rapidly reload a pump-action shotgun. I understand your point about the spread of the pellets though. Only problem with that might be that there is a situation where you live next-door to someone and your walls are made out of crappy plaster... cont.
naedanger123 1 month ago
@remington870ism and you might end up hitting your neighbour. That's pretty damn unlikely though. I just prefer to have 15 rounds in a rifle that I can reload in a few seconds instead of a shotgun with 9 rounds that take a bit of time for me to reload since I don't fire my shotgun often anymore. That other guy was talking about going against, what, 4-5 guys armed with automatic firearms in a van with a shotgun? Nah, that's suicide if you're on your own. Unless they're the worst shots ever... :|
naedanger123 1 month ago
@naedanger123 P.S.: When I said 'damn unlikely', there were other swear words I wanted to add there to get the point across about how unlikely it is, but no. 1: excessive usage of swear words isn't appreciated on vids, and no. 2: I didn't have enough characters. I guess I can use the Campbeltonian word for 'very', which is 'hoora'. Yeah, that's 'hoora' unlikely. Sorry for the number of replies, but I had a fair bit to get off my chest.
naedanger123 1 month ago
@naedanger123 yeah i just prefere to use shotguns i guess it all in opinion
remington870ism 1 month ago
@remington870ism Of course friend. It is in opinion. I'm not saying a shotgun is bad for defence (if I were to say that you should be wondering how I can type in a straight-jacket), it's just that since I use my rifle(s) much more often than my shotgun (for reasons that are of lack of shotgun ammunition and the means to aquire more since I live far away from any firearm stores), I am much more adept with my rifle, and so prefer it 10 times more. Thanks for expressing your opinion properly man.

remington870ism 1 month ago
@Daikenhunter I understand what you saying my friend. I hope at that time when they break in your falling back to your safe room with the family, and calling 911. Let me tell you this most dirtbags robbing your house are going to hear you reloading that shotty and most know a shotguns hold 9 rounds at most. I would rather have a faster realoading weapon like a rifle or handgun with a high capacity mag that puts atleast 17 rounds of whatever in my hand quickly. Not one at a time up a 9 shot tube.
shoktroop 2 months ago
@Daikenhunter I didnt say they were stupid please dont put words in my mouth. Lets keep the conversation civil please. In my video i said "if all you have is a shotgun then i can see maybe putting one one" Yes swat does have them but they also never reall use them. You think a swat cop is going to reload a shotgun instead of yanking out that 1911 .45ACP and drilling the bad guys? You reload a shotgun in a lull of battle or when you have your team covering you. You should have a semi auto pistol.

what do you think about the maverick 88?
stedboy1990 3 months ago
@stedboy1990 I'm sure its a good shotgun. I do not have any hands on time with it. It is a clone and I am sure if the company held to the original specs it will do it's intended job.
shoktroop 3 months ago
@stedboy1990 A friend purchased the 18" security model last week. Solid and reliable so far. It has the cross bolt safety similar to the Remington (not the ambi receiver mounted safety of other Mossbergs).
huguenot67 3 months ago
@stedboy1990

NoGuff 3 months ago

Thanks.
NoGuff 3 months ago

2204Alpha 4 months ago
@2204Alpha First off if some jerkoff breaks into my house I am grabbing my wife and falling back into our bedroom/saferoom and calling 911. If the jerkoff wants my TV he can have it. I am insured my life is worth more than any material bullshit in my house. If he comes back into our room and so much as TOUCHES the doorknob hes dead meat. Only a dumbass would go looking for trouble if an intruder breaks in. And my shotgun is more than a match than any AR or AK at short ranges. 00 buck = Dead meat
shoktroop 4 months ago 21
@2204Alpha 00 buck actualy will hold a good pattern (10") for about 30' but the idea is to not miss so that you dont penetrate interior walls, also assumeing a kneeling possition down on one knee will direct your shot up, keep this in mind unless there is a floor above you, but the same argmentis made for hanguns also, that is why its important to take a safety course that teaches target, and beyond target thinking, so you dont shoot the neighbors cat.

Would this gun do well when hunting? Or is it pretty much for home defense only?
zzJerryShufflezz 4 months ago
@zzJerryShufflezz It would do well with hunting. Any shotgun would do well. However you cannot shoot slugs out of it. Let me refrase that. You can shoot slugs but it is NOTdesigned to do so. :) This barrel is not rifled and is designed to shoot buck & birdshot.
shoktroop 4 months ago
@shoktroop rifledslugs and a skeet choke, they are only slightly less accurate than rifled barrel and sabots
starshock01 4 months ago
@zzJerryShufflezz You could get in trouble hunting with this though. You can only have a certain capacity of rounds for hunting weapons. Even if you don't load them up full you cannot hunt certain game with a 8 round semi auto shotgun.
Look up gun laws in hunting where you live.
wtfdudenotcool101 4 months ago
@monstarmarkum You obviously never been in combat. I have. If you want to rely on spread or think your shotgun is some kind of trench broom your mistaken and probably will get killed. So go ahead and rely on your bead sight. I will put my rounds on target while you pray/hope your sweeper gets the job done.
shoktroop 5 months ago
Great Video! I also have an 870. The advertised magazine capacity is 7. I can only squeeze in 6 shells in the magazine tube, and 1 in the chamber. Mine has the 18 inch barrel, which looks the same as yours. Did you say you can fit 8 shells?
dudespin 5 months ago
@dudespin Yes. My shotgun came with a large plug in the shell tube. I cut out the plug and I can squeez 8 shells in. :)
shoktroop 5 months ago
@shoktroop - I inspected the extended magazine tube on my 870. I see no plastic plug in there, with the exception of the orange one which tells you when the magazine is empty. Everything is made of steel and I don't have the tools or the know how to make that project. The only other thing is maybe get a different spring? Oh well, I'll just have to do with 7 shots. If I get mugged by 8 Zombies, I might have to take out the last one with my sidearm or Machete! :-)
dudespin 4 months ago
@dudespin Thats why smart men have a secondary weapon and do not rely on just a primary. When I was in Iraq in my tank I carried 3 side arms including a S&W model 29 .44 magnum. Yes it was not authorized but I didnt give a shit. My life is worth more than some political correct bullshit. So carry or have a backup and ditch the bullshit machette crap. That is just a silly thing guys like to say. I can tell you for sure that if it came down to a machette I would rather run.

EJL2004 6 months ago
@EJL2004 The best way to see if you can hold an extra round is to remove the shell tube and look at the follower. See if its a small one or an oversized one. Cut the oversized one where the original cut would occure if it was going to be a small one. They are molded the same just not cut during the manufacturing. There is a line were the cut is supposed to happen.
shoktroop 6 months ago
@EJL2004 The 590 is a 9 shot and the choice of the US Military. I own both and prefer the Mossberg 590 much more.
RECONDO101st 6 months ago
is that an express model? i thought the magazine only carried 6+1?
mdssdp 6 months ago
@mdssdp This one carries 8 rounds of 2 3/4 12g. 7 in the tube and one in the pipe.. It used to carry six in the pipe, There was an orange block to prevent an extra round from being put in. I cut off the orange block from the tube feed button. Now it holds 7 in the pipe/tube.
shoktroop 6 months ago
Nice set-up, the only thing I don't care for on this set-up is the barrel length, looks like you have an 18" barrel on there and not the 18 1/2" barrel seeing as your magazine tube extends a bit beyond the barrel. The 18 1/2" barrel would have solved that problem. I have the same stock and it works like a dream, I can shoot 3" magnum rounds with 00 buck and it's recoil is next to nothing. Nice video:)

richemt911 11 months ago

You can even legally make your own SBS on a Form 1.
slt223 1 year ago
does anyone have an 18 inch barrel that they would be willing to sell or trade? thanks
TheOneAndOnlyTbone 1 year ago

Taud 1 year ago
@Taud Sir, you are misinformed. With all respect, I probably know my country's firearms laws better then you do. In the United States, you can get a shotgun with a barrel less then 18 inches (USUAL Fed Standard). You can apply for an SBS (background checks, other legal hoops) which after approval and a tax stamp will allow you to cut down the barrel. You can also buy an AOW "shotgun" such as the Serbu Super Shorty, which I mentioned in my previous post. Thanks and I hope this helps again!
Ironmaiden666trp 1 year ago
@Ironmaiden666trp you took it too literally, thats not what i meant shortening a barrel a few inches isnt quite making a "sawed off" we cant shorten them here too a few inches i meant the kind that are hack sawed almost right off to make it like a pistol

What is your opinion on the remington 870 vs the mossberg 500? Both well known shotguns made in America.
FalseShadowx 1 year ago
@FalseShadowx Mossberg is a great shotgun. On par with the Remington that is for sure. I stick with the Remington 870 due to the HUGE supply of parts and aftermarket accessories. I had a 500 at one time. Ran like a champ. It is the accessories and availability of parts that gives it the edge over the 500. Thats it.
shoktroop 1 year ago
@shoktroop Which accessories do you mean? I like the design of the safety and the slide release on the Mossberg more. It is much more accessible. I like the feel of the Remington more though and have heard they are more durable.
FalseShadowx 1 year ago
@FalseShadowx I do not use the safety on any of my weapons. They are loaded and will not fire unless the trigger is pressed and the sear is disconnected. In a need to fire immediatly I dont want to have to push a safety. I just want to push the bang button. I have never EVER had a "Accidental" discharge. keep finger off trigger untill ready to go BANG. Accessories. The Knoxx spec ops RRS is one main accessory. Large choice of barrels, stocks, tubes & triggers. Just a bit more than the 500.

First may I say you completely missed the part of where I said Buy American to keep OUR firearms industry alive and moving. As you stated and obviously you can no longer buy American anymore this country outsources just about everything. This country has a very unique right. The right to bear arms! I encourage the purchase of American firearms so we keep our firearms industry alive and Americans employed..

does that gun hold 8 rounds in the chamber? I didn't quite catch what you said. Do you have an extension?
blebby 1 year ago
@blebby It holds Seven in the tube and one in the chamber for a total of 8. Yes it has an extension and i used a no set spring. That way I can have the tube maxed out with rounds (7) and one in the chamber.
