  • We did this show when I was a sophomore, and I was Sally. Even though o got to do 'My New Philosophy,' this was always my favorite.

  • fantastic...my favourite song ever

  • Good on you Charles Schultz. Thanks for everything.

    Made me cry.

  • Happiness is Kristin Chenoweth

  • 5 people only have four different crayons.

  • @sammeester your baby has an ear infection because you failed to take care of its ears!!!

  • I love u u are my idol I cry when I hear u sing i love you

  • Whether as Sally or G[a]linda, Kristen knows that 'Sparky' and Baum (as consequently Maguire & Schwartz) made classic franchises that make millions happy...them being Peanuts and Wizard of Oz/Wicked.

  • her voice is amazing beautiful

  • the whole cast..it is the finale

  • So sweet....she is the most amazing singer of our time....

  • One of the sweetest songs sung by one our country's most talented musical theatre actors. I am always reminded, when I hear this song, of the things that were important to me, us, when I was young, a child, and how these things should still be important to us even though we are older. Hopefully, we never completely lose those things that made us think, back in the day and really were, important to us. So simple.

  • I remember singing this song in music class in 4th grade. 30+ years ago. It was on page 26. Brings back such memories.

  • happiness is... morning and evening...

  • Oh, god. The dedicatory at the end always gets to me... ;~;

this song is so touching, and by Kristin, is just beautiful.... TTwTT

  • Actually, the 1999 cast was the Broadway Revival cast. Kristin played Sally Brown. And for "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" fans, Linus was played by B. D. Wong (psychiatrist George Huong on the show). If you listen to the song "Happiness", one of his lines is [Happiness is] "tying your shoe for the very first time". I picked that it was him before I ever saw the cast list, he just sounded exactly like he does in SVU, even though he was singing!!

  • I'd like to see Alexis Bledel play Sally. She reminds me so much of Sally Brown :-)

  • Was this before or after she was in Wicked? Kristin Chenoweth is a great singer.

For all Charlie Brown fans, "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" is now on DVD, as of January 26, 2010. Came out on DVD the same day as the DVD release of Michael Jackson's "This Is It."

  • @CommonSence2008 Wow!!! I didn't know it!! thanks for telling!! do you mean the one with Kristin Chenoweth in it or with another cast?

  • @CommonSence2008 yay!!!!!!

  • @CommonSence2008: YAGMCB was in 1999 (the original musical was in 1962) and Wicked was in 2003 (Wicked was penned in 1995).

  • ive seen this video about a hundred and three times and still makes me cry

  • @TomCollinsgirl Me too!!

  • *Kristen

  • No, you had it right the first time. Kristin. :)

  • Kristin never sounds less than superb.

  • y was she singing this?

  • Because she was part of the OBC for your a good man charlie brown, so i guess she was chosen to sing the song in memory of Charles.

  • If Kristin were part of the OBC, she'd be dead, lol. She was part of the original revival cast.

  • oh yeah LOL

    my bad !!

  • No, she was part of the original BROADWAY cast. It started out off broadway, and then moved to Broadway in 1999 and Kristin was part of the first broadway cast

  • I love her so much!!!

  • LOVE her voice

  • i liked it, but it was toooooooo slow.

  • I love how the public gets more tender and loving with each other as she sings!

<3 This song does that to you !

  • Fuck the Hell up, lifeless looser. Why would they even bye the tickets in the first place if they didn't WANT to hear this and enjoy it???? Go comment somewhere else!

  • Yeah cuz i'm sure they told everybody when they sat down that when this song went on that they had to get increasingly 'tender' as it went on. It's a good song, if the tickets are expensive it would make people appriciate it more not feel like they need to 'pretend' anything.

  • omg i loved this musical it was awsome when my school performed it i was in the esamble company

  • i lost it when she said you're a good man charles scultz!

  • 20th viewing of this and i have goose pimples

  • What's a lisp?

  • She has a lisp in this video??

  • It's the sound quality.

  • This musical means a lot to me. And this song makes me tear up each time, especially this performance and the dedication at the end.

  • I know TomCollinsgirl does mean a lot to me also and really hate that when that happens but they are tears of happiness so there not bitter but sweet tears.

  • I know what you mean. Although, my eyes rarely tear up. (They just did, but I think it's cuz of the brightness of the computer screen...)

  • she looks different

  • kristin is the only singer/awesome actress to give me goosebumps when ever i hear her ugh i love her soooo much

  • I did this song for SoloFest! LOL =)

  • So pure and perfect.

  • for more from kristin Everyone make sure you watch Pushing Daisies on Wednesdays at 8pm on ABC !!!it needs the ratings to keep it on our tellyboxes!

  • i love that show ^^ she is awesome on it!

  • that was so beautiful!!!!

  • this song is great

  • is it just me, or does she have a lisp here??

  • It sounds like she does, but I think it is probably more than likely the video quality because the picture isn't the best either.

Not a slam on the video at all, it is a great video, a great song, and it's sung beautifully, but the quality isn't as good as some others.

  • Or habit. She did play Sally Brown on broadway, and I always thought the actors lisped a little in the musical because it was in character.

  • not a lisp... i promise... I was there!! :) Just the video quality

  • Wow she realy doesn't look like her here...oh well still pretty and vonderul at singing

  • she looks so pretty in this video!

  • man she looks like renee zelwegger (sp)

    shes really good though

  • great singer, i dont own any of her stuff, but if it comes on the dab radio ill tape it.

  • kristin has the most amazing voice I've ever heard. its so beautiful. wow! i really want to meet her. i would be honored to act with her over joyed really! and i hope to, someday. -sulie

  • ksulie you crack me up! I see your comments all over the place, and you comment multiple times on the same video. I do the exact same thing! lol.

  • Ohhhh, that was beautiful! I cried at the end when she said, "You're a Good Man, Charles Schultz". :'(

  • OMG! Me too!

  • she has such a beautiful voice. Its just so natural. She can sing operatically or belt it with the best of them, but her sound is just so natural and soothing. Even untrained I'm sure she would still be phenomenal.

  • I saw a talk show where they showed a clip of her singing as a teenager and she was definitely great but you can definitely hear a huge improvement in her voice since her training. She's friggin amazing.

  • can you provide a link plz :D

  • kristin chenoweth is mt fav actress! she is also my idol. i hope to graduate and act with her someday, wish me luck! -sulie

  • persue your dream practice and you'll get there

  • ah thanx. it feels good to be supported. so, good luck on whatever you want to do in life. -sulie

  • Omg... My idol singing a song from my fave musical.. :P

    ITS LOVE XD

  • i love kristin chenoweth. I really want to meet her.

    she's amazing

  • I love her.

  • GO CHENO!

  • OMG! This is from "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown"!!!

  • brilliant deduction, Sherlock

  • Yeah, I did not read the little "About this video" thing, until after I posted the comment...=D

  • smart one

  • DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I am madly in love with her voice. She's so talented it drives me nuts.

  • I know! Talented and gorgeous!!!! But she also seems to be genuinely nice and so I can't hate her ;-)

  • Greattt! luv her <3

  • Greattt! luv her <3

  • It is a segment from the" A Capitol Fourth" broadcast paying homage to the great, and sadly late, Charles Shultz- the writer and creator of "PEANUTS". The song "Happiness" is however NOT written by him, but is from the musical Youre a good man charlie brown, by clark gesner---who also very sadly died around the same time.

  • I'm sure it's a memorial.

  • Is this a memorial concert or a funeral?

  • You know if you read the description you wouldn't have to ask this question. Its from the Capitol Fourth Celebration. The shut the whole washington mall down and have concerts and fireworks every year on the 4th of july...

  • Very beautiful -tear-

  • who sings this song in the actual play?? Is it sally?

  • Everyone does :)

  • Yes, and she plays sally.

  • On the site of the musical it says Anthony Rapp. Sorry I was wrong. As soon as I wrote it I thought nope that's not right.

  • Anthony Rapp (Charlie Brown) begins the song, but the whole cast joins in with their own lines.

  • @beachbabe8871

It's a full cast number. It's the finale of the show.

Each character has a different line, adding what they think happiness is to them.

  • @beachbabe8871 I'm in this show right now, this song is sung by the entire cast at the very end of the show

  • @beachbabe8871 actually the whole cast sings it but charlie brown sings most of the song...

  • Comment removed

  • @beachbabe8871

Everyone in the musical sings this song. Not just one person.

  • @beachbabe8871 actually, the company sings this song, it's the finale of the show

  • @beachbabe8871 The company. It's the finale

  • @beachbabe8871 Basically everyone sings it. Everyone has their own little interjection, but Charlie is probably the most prominent.

  • I'm guessing this was at a memorial held for Charles Shultz's. This is a really beautiful version of Happiness. Man she really hits those S's in Happiness hard. But Thats what your supposed to do.

  • it's the quality of the video. (with the s thing)

  • yeah!

  • i love kristin. she is my idol! and i hope to act with her someday too. -sulie

  • BRILLIANT!!

    Kristin Chenoweth is BRILLIANT!!

she is my idol and i just love her!

  • She is beautiful and talented. She started out

modeling and Broadway In 2002, she released her debut solo recording entitled "Let Yourself Go," a collection of old standards from the 1930s and '40s.

  • She started out on Broadway before 2002, she was in the revival of You're a Good Man Charlie Brown on Broadway in 1999 for which she won a tony for best featured actress

  • she was also in steel pier in 1997

  • Makes me cry everytime i see it.

  • she sings so good and so sweetly in my new philosophy so be sure to type that in on youtube its so good BEAUTIFUL VOICE MAKES ME WANT TO CRY THOUGH IT'S NOT TOO SAD!

  • THAT'S KRISTEN CHENOWETH?!?!? Seriously?! I wonder how she'd do as Diana in A CHORUS LINE or even Margarate? I can so picture her saying the thing about the Indian Cheif! On the CD it sounds like she's singing "Hello 12 Hello 13"

  • I agree! I didn't think it was kristen chenoweth for a minute!!

  • I absolutely adore her.

  • would anyone know who would have the clip of kristin chenoweth singing at the Kennedy Center Gala for the tribute to Julie Andrews?? I believe she sang the Mary Poppins song.... supercalifragilisticexpialidocious song... not sure if i spelled that right..

  • omigosh kristin performed at that?? DUDE kristin and julie in the same place?? that's amazing! i want to see that! lol

  • OMG where the heck did you dig this up at?! LOVES IT!

  • Actually it found me, it was on a dvd marked Wicked Stuff.

  • I saw YAGMCB the weekend sparky died. loved it

  • But in the meantime, thank you very much for uploading this. I actually remember seeing this. This was the year that Sparky passed away. Yes, that's right, I was a fan of Kristin's BEFORE Wicked AND ALSO BEFORE You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

  • You are quite welcome, I just thought it was really special and I'm very grateful to have found it. It's wonderful that Charlie Brown and Wicked finally brought her the attention and the audience that she deserves!!

  • Do you have the rest of the performance where Kristin does a speech about Sparky and David Benoit does a medley of Peanuts tunes including "Linus and Lucy" by Vince Guaraldi, "History Lesson" by Dave Grusin and "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" by Clark Gesner?

  • No, I wish I did. If I happen to find it I will be in touch.

  • aw YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN! the cutest musical ever!

  • it does sound a little odd. But this was awhile ago. Plus the recording isn't the greatest either

  • she is a trained opera singer. So it was great for her

  • i love kristin chenoweth

    she is my idol

i would love to meet her one day!

  • this is really sweet

  • awesome!! I am driving myself crazy knowing she was on PBS at least 3 times before she was on Wicked and NOONE has anything!!!

    thanks a lot :)

  • you can buy the Candide dvd online, and on 10/2/07 the concert with the Boston Pops is being released on dvd. She sings at least five songs on that one. I recommend it. You can pre-order it now.

  • Thanks,I will look into it!!

  • The Candide DVD is one of my most beloved possession ;) and I have seen the Pops but I didn't know they were releasing it... oredering it right away! thanks for the info

However, the PBS appearances I was referring to are much older... oh well... can't have everything :)

  • that was so good

  • actually I think it was from 'A Capitol Fourth' several years ago

  • Thank you very much, for the info!!!

  • a new cheno video yayy :)

  • Haha thanks for emailing me about this lol. I love it. I presume its around the time she was doing Your a Good Man Charlie Brown. She usually sings songs from the show she last done.

  • YAY new Kristin video! haha

All of the kids in the audience look like they are going to fall asleep!! :(

This must have been awhile ago, Kristin didnt have her teeth fixed here! haha But oh my, this woman is so incredible! I love her so much!! Her voice is so beautiful!! Her ending is so cute too!! <3 Cheno!

  • Cute shot of the baby picking his nose at the end! HAHAHA!

    Yes, Isn't she wonderful!!
