Oh, I never said it wasn't realistic. It's probably one of the truest plays out there. I'm just saying that none of the main characters have a single redeeming, or even admirable, quality.

Stanley might because he tries to look out for his buddy when he finds out Blanche is not what they think she is.

Blanche does not. At all. She lies, lives in a little fantasy that she's convinced herself should be true, and seems to refuse to believe in her recent past.

because I love this scene. As a whole I hate the play. Its about egotistical and uncaring characters who try to destroy each other's lives in the most brutal ways they can imagine. And to top it all off, they're flat characters. They don't gain any new understanding of the world, they just go on as they were even after Stanley rapes his sister-in-law, who was in love with his best friend, who really did nothing more to him than disrupt his sex life.

Gotta disagree with you.True,the characters are flawed ,but they also have their good sides,even Stanley.The point is,there are good people who can end up doing bad things to each other.The play is asking us to try and understand why these people are the way they are and end up doing the things they do,and the characters not learning their lesson forces us,the audience,to learn it for them.This is why many call it a modern tragedy.
