Wow amazing vids - dare i say the most simple to understand and most informative on youtube regarding the maschine.... a deffo must watch for people like me who is on the verge of investing in one of these! I literally just use fruity loops at the moment as im new to producing but i have the cash to invest in a maschine and by looks of things i should just move on to this what you reckon? Could i start out producing solely on the maschine and fruity? Thanks again for your vids
how do you find and set the bpm of your sample? im having trouble figuring that out! especially when I change the pitch of the sample! please help! lol
hey knock I had a question. I recently bought the maschine and Im not sure how to connect it to my soundcard so I can sample. Whutever I want to sample, the maschine doesnt seem to pick it up, I was wondering whut I could do to make it work. I have a soundcard and an audio interface. If you can get back to me thts be cool !!
Hey I love your video alot: I had seen you playing a bass line on the keyboard there; so how was you able to play a sound off another keyboard and record a keyboard sound on to the maschine?
I have maschine and a MPK 49. How can I use maschine and Abelton live lite akai edition together? I also have the NI Audio Kontrol 1. I am confused can you help<
man I got the same gear like you i bought a couple a days ago also the maschine and the akai mpk49 but I'm new to those guys and I have the learn how to use them
Thank you so muck, I think your probably the only guy that actually explained how to extract the sample and record it from the record player and every thing, once again, thanks. This helped me out so much. All I need is a damn record player that can connect to the Machine now!
Man thats a tight ass feel good beat @3:40. You in D.C. huh im from Alexandria. Anyway my Maschine coming in tomorrow sometime so all ive learned from you will most definitly come in use bra.
Sorry knock my dude aint been on in a while been busy with maschine I'mma try routing like you suggested but I just been convert to wav and going rom there...using asio4all though
Any idea if this thing is usable for stuff like industrial or electronica and stuff like that? Seems like everyone who has one on youtube is doing hip hop, is it especially tailored specifically for that, or would it work well as an all purpose sampling rig? Nice video by the way. Very nice.
@beantownn54 Whats Up. Yeah if they are wav files then you can definitely load them. I load my personal kits through the software by clicking the Disk button (next to the LIB button ) then finding the folder and right click on it . It will give you the option to "add to Library"
I have this mp3 I want to sample from. Can I import the entire mp3 and crop the parts I want to sample using the maschine and make them a pad. Please help or point me in the place where I can get the info.
i was just wondrin speakin as someone with very little experience would you say this drum machine does it let you create exactly what the idea in your head is saying?i know its a pretty vague question but i mean ive had experience with an old boss drum machine, and i find it pretty hard to actually get what i want from it. it keeps quantanising and fixing the beats im playin etc
iwant to be able to record all my kicks, then layer my snares, ride etc,and i just can get it man!
I've been thinking about getting a maschine for a while now and after seeing your videos i have no doubt this is the maschine for me haha keep making great beats, you're better than any producer these days
had maschine for 3 days and love it!! I've been djing for years, but this is a whole new ballgame. Thanks for the videos, they really help. I've been having trouble locating where to download a manual. It said it should be able to be viewed right from the maschine help page under the Open Manual section. No luck though, nothing there. Anyway, thanks again for your videos, great stuff. And like you said... Maschine is IT!!!!

Hello Everyone. I'm thinking about buying Maschine 1.5 but im totally new to beat-making. I don't want to start off with something complicated, but this MPC seems very simple... what else do I need to buy to be able to compose ?? I'ld apreciate it if you could type down all I need from A-Z . Thanks.
KNOCK!! ,you are one real inspiring mutha *&^%$#. Thanks a milli+ for these vids. Keep more of em just like this coming. What interface do u work with??
Loved this video. I've been drooling over Maschine for about three weeks. Plan on getting it in about 6 weeks. Been looking at as many Maschine vids as I can. Yours is one of the best. Blew me away when you tweeked that effect on the old record sample. Thats why I'm getting Maschine.
Don't buy this from this piece of crap company. I bought one off ebay from Seller djdeals_inc and he told me that there was no difference between the educational version and the regular. I sold it on craigslist after I decided I didn't like it. The new buyer was not able to register it because YOU CANNOT TRANSFER THE LICENCE. So now I'm supposed to be stuck with it. The ebay seller was a dick for misleading me and taunted me through e-mail. Native instruments was uncooperative and didn't help!
You I just got Maschine 3 days ago and have the same setup as you. Maschine, MPK49 and Protools.....you can pretty much do everything you need with those 3 things, being that you can also use Maschine as a plugin in ProTools and record it straight to ProTools!! (or whatever DAW it is that you're using) I'm in heaven....like a hermit now....just school for audio production and home making music....
just love the old school flavor you put on your beats man, i'm currently using a mpc 2000xl and thinking about switching things up and going with the Maschine but not sure if i can afford it, not the maschine but i dont really have much of a computer. So dont wanna have to drop $1000 on a new laptop ya know? i like to play live and no way ima be dragging a desktop with me everywhere =P
hey knock just got the maschine , was wondering is there a way to sample from Itunes without using a Ipod and if there is how would I go about doing that
@dabeatknocka whats up man... welcome to the Maschine Fam :) There are some softwares out there that let you sample what you hear. After you sample then you import into maschine. Now If you want to hit sample on Maschine and have it sample whats playing on Itunes it all depends on what audio interface you have. I have one with multiple ins and outs and I can just route the main audio to maschine and sample whatever i hear . what type interface do you have?
duplicate is cool my mpc 1000 takes some time there is some stuff wrong with it from what i heard but the samples in it are sik i also heard.but fuk all the bull shit and hatters just have fun with it mpc does take longer of a process .
Great Demo...the best part is you actually somehow overlayed all the audio into the vid because its so clear...compared to other vids where they record thru their camera's mic comin straight from their monitors
@alex927 I myself jus start'd out..had tha maschine 4 two months now..i have neva owned a mpc and real talk..u will b amazed at how u can create drum patterns and sample..My suggestion would b..go with tha Maschine..master it..then move on 2 tha Mpc's..Chuuch!!
For anyone wondering... yes, the pads have KILLER sensitivity... and it's SO easy to chop samples, like this guy did. Incredibly fast, incredibly easy. I LOVE MASCHINE!!!
id love to get one of these to start producing with, and maybe to use in my djing as well if it works well with my setup. seems kinda daunting to get into though
I Need this! I have never seen anything that allows you to make music so quickly. I hate messing around with horribly meticulous things, this would honestly get rid of all that non-sense.
@ryanhendrix get it. I'm so glad I did. Combined with a good sequencer, you're golden. I can put together full beats and songs within one hour (per song). NI got it right. The MPC is dead.
Damn, I really dont know if I can switch, I'm just too used to the MPC and love it, all though the work flow can get a little slow & annoying at times. Thanks for this vid, making me think pretty hard about it.
i know how to work my reason with axiom 61 hardly need the mouse but you can search thru sounds and play them with out stoping keeping things rollings brings the best out im buying this for my studio thanks for showing me how easy this thing is too work with Peace!
ha...thanks... celebrating yourself is like the kiss of death when doing youtube vids..lol..that brings the haters out real quick....besides..I celebrate myself OFF CAMERA (just kidding..lol)
ahhhh man..sorry for the long delay Pr0 yes it works good with the MPK... but then again i only use the MPK to play midi notes in maschine... i dont use the transports and things like that on the mpk because I use the maschine hardware
man, this video made my day. im an mpc head, i sample vinyl like that, ive got motu bpm and it aint like that! i really like how fast you can manipulate the sasmples. question: is pitching the sample up or down quick as well? like do you just hit a pad and use the knobs to change the sample pitch? like you would on an mpc?
you need to have a computer. good news is you dont need to touch your computer once you maschine is loaded. you can do everything from the hardware. I see you rockin that 404... good sh*t bro...I need a beer too..lol
Does it sound like the speakers are cracking? cuz thats what I had, and I had to download some sort of new audio driver. idk, i cant really remember. but if thats what the problem is tell me, and I'll send you the link to download.
I also have the maschine. Excellent piece! But can you maybe explain and show exactly how to make a fully song? Is there a detailed explanation? cos i create a loop pretty fast, but neet intro, variations, breaks and outro for a complete song. how can I make that easily?
yo knock ur a master at sampling how can i do it like u whats the object behind sampling....like do u record the sample 1st then add the beat or make the beat 1st...idk....i do it and it sounds like a train wreck
Maschine workflow is actually faster than any MPC. You don't even have to look at your computer screen. You can do pretty much everything with the hardware.
this is so dope. I was talking to a guy at work about this, and he told me about it. I looked it up because i wanted something like a mpc 1000 without spending a grand. This is $499 on sweetwater and can do pretty much everything that the mpc can do. I'm totally sold on it, just saving up! Thanks for posting this vid!
what up Groove... you working on laptop? or desktop. You need to feed your audio INPUT on your computers audio interface then set Maschines inputs to match whatever your computers input is.
MANN!! im diggin that quick piece you put together especially towards the end! i picked up a maschine last month and i can only hope to be as good as you. please make more clips, they are inspiring!
Thanks iron mike !! Wellyou DO need a computer to hook to Maschine hardware. REMEMBER... you MUST have a computer to use Maschine. You can however turn the computer screen off and still do everything i did in this Vid... so its almost like you arent using a computer
Watched all your vids! love em.. i actually bought a MASCHINE after watching you haha so you should get like commission or summn cuz i think a lot of ppl did the same as me haha... CAN YOU TRY TO MAKE A BEAT WITH "The Carpenters-Superstar?" sampled i think it would work out good but cant seem to make it work!
great video! only one thing... your voiceover is waaay down in the mix, quite unbalanced against the beats you're making. I'm keen on the maschine... thanks for sharing!
Some bugs anyway. Also installed the update but I hope there will come more cos its not 100%ly stable in my opninion. Anyway. i got a question:
How can I turn the sensibility on the pads OFF so the volume is automaticly 100%? In FL Studio its Velocity that I can turn OFF. In Maschine I can see also Velocity and Sensibility, but I tried everything and still the same :-( any idea?
Yes! I allready made a beat with maschine really easy to use and straight! I only got some bugs while changing the groups whila playing. not good. it crashes. hope there will come an update. but a very cheap machine for the action you can use. definitly THE groovebox and MUCH better then my sold roland MV 8800. sorry MV user, but before hatin me, just test this beast ;-)
for those looking to sample from the web like itunes and shit like that,,,I got your answer do a searh here for user "MCSG27" he got a GREAT vid on how to do it and its a split screen showing the software ANY hardware... hit that up cause its on point
Great!!! Just GREAT! I sold my MV 8800 because it wasnt pretty plugged to the PC (USB 1 only) . You are one of the guys who impressed me to this one ;-)
I had the opinion to get an Open Labs Timbaland MiKo for 2600 EUR. Pretty much but cheaper than usually. The Maschine only costs here 550 EUR. what do you think? :-/
well..honestly you can do more with the Neko. Maschine is dope...but Neko is full workstation. But let me say... working with samples there is no hardware faster than Maschine. Thats one of the things they stress... get lost in the flow (lost being a good thing...lol)Helll Get both !!! lol
Nope ! But yo..there are programs on the web that you can record what you are listening to or playing (like Itunes) and make a wav file out of it.. then drag to maschine.
mine will be here in 3 days!!!

Thank you very much!

Hey Knock this is the exact setup I'm considering. How well does maschine and the mpk play with each other?
pr0lyric 2 years ago
ahhhh man..sorry for the long delay Pr0 yes it works good with the MPK... but then again i only use the MPK to play midi notes in maschine... i dont use the transports and things like that on the mpk because I use the maschine hardware
KnockSquared 1 year ago
Thanks for being such a great inspiration! Keep doing your thing bro!!!
pr0lyric 1 year ago
@KnockSquared Just picked a mpk 49 & maschine because of your advice. Much love!

love the sample and the beat went with it very nice. Keep making vids, inspiration by each video man. Thanks
tacoffice 2 years ago
man, this video made my day. im an mpc head, i sample vinyl like that, ive got motu bpm and it aint like that! i really like how fast you can manipulate the sasmples. question: is pitching the sample up or down quick as well? like do you just hit a pad and use the knobs to change the sample pitch? like you would on an mpc?
zeektheemcee 2 years ago
can you use it as stand alone or only with a computer??
djyourgofromlelystad 2 years ago
you need to have a computer. good news is you dont need to touch your computer once you maschine is loaded. you can do everything from the hardware. I see you rockin that 404... good sh*t bro...I need a beer too..lol
KnockSquared 2 years ago
thanx man..now i take my second beer beer..cheers haha
djyourgofromlelystad 2 years ago
After seeing this you have seriously made me think about buying this rather than the Motu BPM.
It seems very creative and instant and works like hardware giving the benefits of software where its needed.
This video should be on the NI site as I feel its more relevant.
Thanks man.

glenn..thanks for the love man. Did you get BPM? I have it also (althought its collecting dust)

SWINESdimes 2 years ago
I also have the maschine. Excellent piece! But can you maybe explain and show exactly how to make a fully song? Is there a detailed explanation? cos i create a loop pretty fast, but neet intro, variations, breaks and outro for a complete song. how can I make that easily?
Big thx in advance!!!!

yo knock ur a master at sampling how can i do it like u whats the object behind sampling....like do u record the sample 1st then add the beat or make the beat 1st...idk....i do it and it sounds like a train wreck
entyce66 2 years ago
This Maschine looks bad-ass!!
Only problem is it needs a PC/Mac to function :-(
I use the MPC 2500 & I also sequence on my computer.
I like being able to make a track without having to turn on my computer (improves the workflow).
But I guess it depends on your approach.
Your drum sample quality sounds pristine!!
ShynAwkward 2 years ago
Maschine workflow is actually faster than any MPC. You don't even have to look at your computer screen. You can do pretty much everything with the hardware.
mutantvisions 2 years ago
this is so dope. I was talking to a guy at work about this, and he told me about it. I looked it up because i wanted something like a mpc 1000 without spending a grand. This is $499 on sweetwater and can do pretty much everything that the mpc can do. I'm totally sold on it, just saving up! Thanks for posting this vid!
guitargeek9 2 years ago
you can find them on ebay for maybe 300 dollars now.

yo knock im trying to get samples in to the maschine any advice ? i tried evrything i can think of i dont sample much but i want it if i need it
groovemaster1965 2 years ago
what up Groove... you working on laptop? or desktop. You need to feed your audio INPUT on your computers audio interface then set Maschines inputs to match whatever your computers input is.
KnockSquared 2 years ago
does it have autochop?

KetchupKid1 2 years ago
You can just copy a sample like this with the maschine??? you dont need nothing else??
Thanks man and Props for youre beats
ironmiketyson777 2 years ago
Thanks iron mike !! Wellyou DO need a computer to hook to Maschine hardware. REMEMBER... you MUST have a computer to use Maschine. You can however turn the computer screen off and still do everything i did in this Vid... so its almost like you arent using a computer

Finally I got the Maschine!
Thanks!!!
Micro Mantis
flowflash 2 years ago
yo.,,, did you find out how to adjust the velocity?
KnockSquared 2 years ago

YnGbR33Z3x1stEnt 2 years ago
Fam... do s search here for MCSG27...he got the answer for you in a hot vid... believe that.
KnockSquared 2 years ago
by the way. do you have an academy version?
flowflash 2 years ago
no i got the "expensive as hell" version...lol
KnockSquared 2 years ago
you right. but i will buy the maschine. its cheaper and my workstation is the pc ;-)
flowflash 2 years ago
Great!!!
Micro Mantis
flowflash 2 years ago
well..honestly you can do more with the Neko. Maschine is dope...but Neko is full workstation. But let me say... working with samples there is no hardware faster than Maschine. Thats one of the things they stress... get lost in the flow (lost being a good thing...lol)Helll Get both !!! lol
KnockSquared 2 years ago
is it possible to drag a sample from itunes into the maschine??
if so how??
mnlkthms 2 years ago
Nope ! But yo..there are programs on the web that you can record what you are listening to or playing (like Itunes) and make a wav file out of it.. then drag to maschine.
KnockSquared 2 years ago
could you please help a brotha out
and tell me which program i could do that with???????????
mnlkthms 2 years ago
if you got mac..look for "Audio Hijack" if you got PC look for "power record" from Blaze Audio company
KnockSquared 2 years ago
